But I'm still struggling to think of how that would fit in the ending? Shepard would wake up... and then what?

So, you'll pay for a proper ending to every future game you buy?
With the way all those twitter responses sound, it would be the most amazing and legendary thing to happen in gaming if all of this was just a massive trolling by BioWare and they had a real ending, for free, waiting in the wings. But sadly the likelihood of a such devious plan is about as probable as this simply being a horrible dream I have yet to wake up from for over a week.
That's why I backed up my autosave before choosing one of the endings.
Btw I don't know if I missed it but how did the reapers get to our galaxy now? I thought I destroyed that terminal.

Series reboot would be an option. With all the galaxies separated and isolated without the Relays, and with the entire bulk of the galactic fleet in the Sol system, it just means that the new galactic order will be totally different and it will take hundreds of years of rebuilding before space travel like what is possible in ME1-3 will be possible again.
I'm sure that's one of the things they considered while developing the ending. It would give the universe a fresh start whenever they want to continue the series with more stories later on. I think what they didn't anticipate was the backlash on the Super Space Jesus God Citadel ending, and now they're trying to backpeddle on it asap. Lololz.

Just knock the difficulty down to story mode and you can pretty much just run past most enemies on Earth. It's a breeze.
They probably can't because they might actually be deciding it right now. I doubt they expected the sort of backlash they are getting. They probably thought it was pretty "smart" and "gutsy" to have a huge Bioware decision moment at the end where you decide the FATE OF THE UNIVERSE in 3 extremes, followed by the destruction of the Mass Effect Relays and Shepard becoming a LEGEND.

If Bioware really planned out the current endings, then fine, we should stick with Mass Relays exploding and potentially the geth/EDI dying, or Shepard becoming the Flying Dutchman, or everyone becoming husks. But they should at least flesh out what that entails with videos that aren't direct copies of each other.
If they slapped on the endings last second with little thought to it, then maybe they really should create new endings that fit the original vision better.

Network traffic wouldn't necessarily tell you that that data is being tracked. Unless it was to something obvious like weindoctrinatedyourass.reapers.bioware.com.

they track data on players trough the 'gameplay enhancement' option that is enabled by default.
options > online > turn it off.

I'm aware they track user data, but it says it's for network purposes. They did that with ME2. However, this person said that they track the player's last choice.
I'm okay with the endings, but dissatisfied.
