NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

It's the same as with RG3. SEA, MIA, CLE and WAS were desperate to fix their QB issues. MIA and SEA were out b/c that was too far to move, and so WAS and CLE both bid a ton.

Manning is at DEN or TEN, and Flynn is at either MIA or SEA. So CLE and at least one team need a QB. They have to do something. CLE will take Tannehill at #4, b/c they know MIA or SEA will take him if they try and trade too far down.

Tanny at 4, I could only imagine how pissed of Browns fans would be for such a reach.

Tannehill at 4? Yikes.

Has there ever been a draft where 3 QB were drafted in the top 5?

'99 had top 3 all QBs

It's not so much that he's worth it there, or that most teams would do it. But CLE has an image problem with its fans, just like the Skins did. They can't trot out McCoy w/o a QB of the future on the roster and not have the fans revolt

Makes sense. If it works out it will be interesting to see where Foles and Osweiler land.

And this:

1 Cleveland Browns Tim Couch
2 Philadelphia Eagles Donovan McNabb
3 Cincinnati Bengals Akili Smith

Not a very inspiring group, hopefully the 12 class has a better result than this <_<

now that we have resigned carlos rogers it looks like eric wright wont be coming to san fran. or should i say eric wrong LOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

49ers reportedly re-signing Carlos Rogers, so the D remains intact. Adding Parrish Cox spells the end for Shawntae Spencer as well IMO, which is fine by me.

We're clearly going WR in the draft outside of Moss, so all that really remains is RG and, of course, QB.

I'm not expecting many surprises.

Getting Marshall should be great for the Bears offense. Before Cutler went down we had the 6th highest scoring if I remember right? Still have plenty of cap space to improve our Oline and get a solid DE/LB. Then draft WR, TE, And whatever else. Strange no talks about teams interested in Manningham though.

poor mcribb being included in such trash. mcribb had a very solid career and remember going by dead member duce22. 4 nfc championship losses is better than 1 sb win ok.

Peyton should know: Broncos have played 519 home games in 52 years. Avg. temp at kickoff: 60.1 degrees

Interesting little tidbit. Denver is much nicer than the reputation it gets.

Rogers official now, 4 years at $29.3m. Held beside Finnegan's 5y/50m deal, Rogers seems like a freakin' steal.

EDIT: Deal is even better, 29.3 instead of 31.3. Lolrams

These numbers are meaningless until we get years, guarantees, and levels of guarantees.
To a degree, I understand what you're saying. Years we have though, 4 for Rogers, 5 for Finnegan.

The only other info is Finnegan's deal is front loaded, $33m over the first 3 years. Guaranteed and/or incentive bonuses are unknown so far.

Bears gave Campbell 3.5 m.

I knew they were gonna overreact to the backup QB situation but yeesh.

Worth it. If they had him as a backup two years ago Bears would have been in the Super Bowl and would have been very much in the Playoffs last year. And I don't think it was mentioned in here but Bears extended CB Jennings who I believe graded out the be the 11th best corner last year and was one of two CBs to not allow any TD passes all of last year.

Oh I didn't know Finnegan's numbers were out. Wow. That's too much. Depends on year 3 and level of guarantee that year

Great that we signed Carlos, glad to see the entire defense is going to remain intact.

So glad we didn't sign Eric Wright, that guy is fucking awful.

So now in the draft we address WR, OG, SS, FS, and QB.

Doubt the 49ers will look at a QB. Alex will be back, as will Kaepernick and Tolzien.

I remember him from that Thanksgiving game against the Dolphins, I think he caught 2 TD's in that game? Anyway I won't be too mad if we sign him, but man what a downgrade :(

He is not in any way a #1 receiver. He is an underrated #2 if a team has a legit #1 to play on the other side though. Probably the best WR that nobody really knows about and the way he has bounced around the league is a mystery to me.

I agree. I'm amazed Mario Manningham hasn't gotten any bites as of yet if guys like Robinson are being sought after. Mario would be an excellent #2 on some of these teams.

I've liked Laurent Robinson since he was drafted by the Falcons. I wish we had kept him originally, but injuries and Harry Douglas sidetracked that.

He's a solid #3/2 WR, depending on the team.

You have to be kidding me

SEA and KC will move up for a QB. KC could bring in Weeden to compete with Cassell. CLE may draft Tannehill at 4 if they can't trade down a little.

I can't see the Seahawks trading up for Tannehill.

I'd be ill if we did. I'd rather grab the best pass rusher we can and then take Osweiler in the 2nd.

I still don't think they beat the Pack that game, although possible. And they probably would have made the playoffs last year but wouldn't have advanced through the playoffs with Jason freaking Campbell.

They spent 15% of their remaining cap space on an insurance policy. With holes all over the place. Not a back-breaker by any stretch, but I disagree with the insistence on spending for a backup QB because if Cutler goes down again, there's no Super Bowl. Still.

It can prove itself worthy, say keeping the team afloat for an injury to Cutler mid-season. But with all the other holes on this team it hurts to see that much money go to someone who could easily not play a single snap.
