NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

No way the Bears can afford Willaims now. Too many holes to fill still at DE, LB, S,TE. Also according to Bradd Biggs of the Chicago Tribune the Bears owe Marshall no guaranteed money in the deal. So if this new incident turns out bad things might still be ok.

I woke up to news that we gave away our best WR, douche as he might be, for two 3rd round picks. To the team with a QB who threw 100+ passes to him a million times. Way to negotiate, Ireland...

So, now we're picking a WR in first round or what? Jesus... Marshall/Manning combo would've been interesting. But now, I'm not even sure I want Manning at this point, maybe just rebuild from scratch with Philbin. I hope he has a good influence on Ireland come draft. We need one speedy WR with good hands. And O-liners, plenty of them... And a safety who can actually run at LB speed. Oh, fuck...

Edit: Marshall in a fight with a woman again. If the trade doesn't get voided, maybe not so bad then. I dunno anymore. I give up.

So, Cuevas, are you happy now? I think if Marshall isn't suspended and learns how to defend his wife's samurai sword attacks, he should be up for 100+ catches in Chicago.

Guess I was wrong about bringing back Josh Morgan. Alex doesn't build rep that fast with his receivers. It may be a talent upgrade, but a step back in timing and trust.

so is it the general consensus that marshall will be suspended?

here's hoping we get Mario too.. god damn that would be amazing
for anything under $70 mil

Too early to tell, might be just someone trying to cash in on his reputation by just provoking him. Either way, even with 4 games, you'd still get your QB's favourite target.

As a Colts fan, I love getting Wayne back. Watching every game last year, I was actually surprised Wayne kept his cool and focus the way he did because 2-14 after years of 10+ wins and a year of Collins/The Painter/The Big O would be hard to put up with. Dallas Clark showed as I really thought he gave up and dropped more balls than Pierre Garcon throught the season before he got injured.... again. Sure, he's getting older, but I still think he has a few years of being a solid receiver and its good to have some sort of veteran leadership on offense. (Plus, this way, I still have a jersey of an active Colt!)

Colts are making all the hard choices, but the right ones. Ive pretty much agreed with everything they've done so far. Next few years going to be a bit rocky though.

I figured so. Curious how the Niners replace him.

Brandon Lloyd has a visit scheduled.

Morgan, while being the 49ers most complete WR, is a 3rd WR at best. At this point in his career, he's slightly better then Crabtree. Crabtree is the more talented player, but Morgan plays harder.

Really hope the 9ers don't sign Lloyd. Cmon Patriots FO!

BREAKING: #Browns have not pursued GB QB Matt Flynn and reports that they're set to make offer untrue, league source tells PD.

Browns fans need to face it that we are building through the draft. You don't see teams like Green Bay, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or New England going crazy in FA. Plus, honestly who would want to come to Cleveland.

I know it to be true. But my heart...it keeps making me want to believe. :(

I look forward to seeing Roddy/Julio blow by Eric Wright next season.

This.

Some Falcons fans are already going insane, "we haven't signed anyone! the sky is falling! might as well have the Smith family back!". :jnc

Yes, because every team but them in the league has made moves. Since Dimitroff and Smith arrived, they have always played their cards close to the vest.

I'm gonna pay for Marios gas for all his cars for a week . And I'm takin care of Myers landscaping #whatugot- Shaun Cody

Mario don't leave Texas...I heard there's lots of confusing gun laws in NY #askplax #houstonwhatugot- Connor Barwin

Not enough :jnc's.

Eagles have extended Trent Cole's contract:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/14/eagles-extend-trent-cole/

Eagles announced a four-year extension with defensive end Trent Cole.

Cole was already under contract through 2013, at base salaries of $2.9 million and $3.4 million, respectively, over the next two seasons.

A fifth-round draft pick in 2005, Cole became a full-time starter in his second season. He has 68 career sacks, including three straight double-digit seasons.

I wish we could get some update numbers on how much cap space the Eagles have freed up the last 2 days. I wonder if they are loading up to make an offer to tulloch.

Just when my hopes get up with Wright signing elsewhere, freaking Tedd Ginn jr is visiting the lions today or tomorrow. So mlive tells me.

Punt return specialist?

Because I can't possibly see any other reason why.

If the Niners don't resign Ginn, I really hope we draft a capable KR/PR, or try and utilize Hunter/Reggie Smith/Cox more. I obviously am less angry at Kyle Williams now that time has calmed me down, but I just don't see a kid that young overcoming how horrifically damning his PR mistakes were in the NFCC game.
