Calvin getting paid like he's Unicron.
Tell that to Dan Snyder. Though I guess they have no choice but to pay guys big in FA after dealing away all those early draft picks. That CJ deal frees up some cap space as well. Good deal.
I'm actually not that upset about them not doing much in free agency. Build the team through the draft, for the most part.
He's open in triple coverage. Can't scheme that.
Biggest NFL contract ever? I think.
RT @EaglesInsider: BREAKING NEWS: #Eagles have traded OT Winston Justice and a 6th round pick to the Colts for a 6th round pick.
When did the Yankees start signing football players?agreement with WR Calvin Johnson on a seven-year, $132 million extension that includes $60 million guaranteed.
:jnc good god.Under new deal, Calvin Johnson's average weekly in-season paycheck is $1,109,243.70.
Things are looking up for Minnesota football! The Vikes and the Gophers are both going to win 5 games next year!
Biggest total contract in NFL history topping Vick's $130 million.
nfl contracts becoming the new nba contracts
in other news: the texans are embarassing me
I didn't think it was possible for there to ever be a deal that would make Larry Fitzgerald's look kind of small by comparison.
Is it possible to say that Megatron is over paid now?
Teddy ginn and his family visiting the lions. Doubt he signs there after seeing how unfirm jim scwartz's handshake is
Considering the lions offense would basically be dog shit without him, cj got underpaid!
yankeehater said:I am sad to see Winston go. He wasnt very good but still it is nice to have extra OL for depth plus swapping 6ths is basically no return. I wonder how much this move saves the Eagles?
No numbers as of yet but apparently enough to make it worth moving him.ESPN Blogs NFC East ‏
Eagles trade rationale: They lose a big salary they didn't want to pay, and they move up from middle to top of sixth round.

Eagles also annouce they have signed restricted free agent DT Antonio Dixon to a one-year contract.
the 'real' number will presumably be significantly lower, but that number will probably be pretty big.
Which means nothing until there is a better breakdown of the contract. A good deal of that guaranteed money could be backloaded for all we know.jmdajr said:it said 60 million guarantee.
Except I don't expect CJ to tank now that he has his money.
CJ's "guaranteed" number is $60 million but talking heads are saying that means absolutely nothing.
The happiest person with this deal? Matt Stafford.

And then have an unhappy player? No, way. The contract is a good one for all involved and saves them cap space now. That's all that really matters for the time being. How much for CJ? Dude better win three Cy Youngs and pitch, like, 10 no-hitters. Could have just slapped the franchise tag on him every year for the next 7 years and saved a ton of cash.
Lions beat writer is now saying that deal saves us $9 million in cap space this season alone.
Hype rising. Possible Tulloch re-signing.
it said 60 million guarantee. Who else has guaranteed that much?
In many cases, that's how NFL contracts are structured yes.jmdajr said:So the shit isn't really guaranteed then if he doesn't play all 7 years?
Did the Patriots sign anyone yet?
Lions now need an oline, lbs, and defensive backs
Matt Slayer and Koutovides.
Dream team
Slater is one the best ST guy so thats good.I don't know what Koutovides does.

Gotta suck to be a Vikings fan nowadays. Toughest division in the NFL and the Queens aren't making any noise!
The Weems pick up is interesting. Does this mean Knox is won't be ready for the start of the season? Or maybe the Bears are going to shop Hester? I believe he is due a 10 million dollar bonus next season.
Edit: Holy cow at Megatron deal! Got paid!
Ah, the good ol' days...I'm convinced people who say this never watched many full games of Campbell in washington. So many games he just never put together more than one scoring drive, yet managed to rack up 250+yards with maybe one pick and one td and so analysts would call him "consistent" or something.
His career can be summed up in one play, 4th and 10, less than one minute left, down by one score, and Campbell throws a 2 yard pass to the flat.
In many cases, that's how NFL contracts are structured yes.
I'll use Terrell Thomas' contract with the Giants as an example. He signed a 4 year, 28 million dollar contract with 11 million guaranteed and an option built into the contract. The option means that in reality - it's a one year 2 million dollar contract. If after the first year, his knee doesn't hold up the Giants can release him with no hit and no obligation to pay the remaining guaranteed money. Terrell walks away with 2 million at best.
Smart teams either build in those types of options, move the money through play incentives (i.e. this money doesn't get triggered unless you reach this milestone) or structure the contract so a good bit of the guaranteed money is in the later years when it's feasible the player will be cut anyway and they don't have to pay it.
