Mario Williams is leaving Buffalo tonight.

Bad news: Probably headed to Chicago for a visit.

Good news: Detroit has the cap room and may be one of the other 2 teams interested.

And then we could cut Vandenboesch's old and useless ass! But really, I would rather see Tulloch resigned or Lofton signed. Gotta have at least 1 competent defender!

wow imagine detroit if they had a defensive line. watch out NFC!

Your words can't hurt me!

Why overpay for a guy who wants to reunite with his old coach, but get stingy when it comes to giving the $54m QB anyone to throw to? Maybe they want him to fail so they can cut him next year and not pay him $15m? I hate to be tin foil hat guy, but the alternatives all involve incompetence

Dude has a history of playing well in Fisher Ds. Market for CBs is a bit high these days, everyone is jumping on the "it's a passing league" thing. He's still 28, I think it's okay for that price.

Breakdown of the DeSean Jackson contract:

He gets $10 million to sign, along with a $750,000 base salary and a $250,000 workout bonus in 2012.

In 2013, Jackson receives a $6.75 million base salary, $4 million of which is fully guaranteed. The other $2.75 million is guaranteed for injury only. He also will receive a $250,000 workout bonus, which increases the two-year take to $18 million.

In 2014, Jackson will receive a base salary of $10.25 million, $250,000 of which is fully guaranteed. $500,000 of it is fully guaranteed. He also will be eligible for a $250,000 workout bonus.

In 2015, the base salary will be $9.75 million, with a $250,000 workout bonus.

And in 2016, the base salary will be $8.25 million, with a $250,000 workout bonus.

All I can think is Hakeem and Victor are going to be pricey as hell to sign. Nicks especially is going to get a helluva pay day if he continues his level of production.

Looks like 2 years, $18m with a third year option.

Hopefully he plays every down and not just a rotational guy for that kind of money, I wonder if this means we're sticking with the 3-4? Oh well, not a bad move I suppose. I just hope we also sign Langford so our D-line would remain intact.

Please don't re-sign Chilo ...Please don't re-sign Chilo....

Sad to see Snyder go.

This about sums it up. If the 49ers can't find a right guard through free agency or the draft, they should just put a uniform on the Gatorade cooler and wheel it out to the line.

It would still give better production then resigning Chilo.

But why was that the first move? All Fisher had to do was call him and tell him he would take care of him. What they needed to press was the WR position. The reality is that they are wasting another year of whatever Bradford has. Rookie WRs just don't contribute right away unless they are AJ Green/Megatron talents, and there isn't one of those in this draft

It's more about the Rams and their inability to address the WR position as a franchise. Since 2007, the Rams are 15-65 and they have thrown the fewest number of TD passes (69) in the league. Think about how few TD passes that is. The last WR of any note was Torry Holt. It's no coincidence that Kurt Warner was at his best when he had Bruce, Holt, and Fitz as targets

Rumour going around Browns are trying to set up a trade for Ben Tate.

Not that I don't think he's an improvement over our crud RBs but I don't think he's as good as last season showed. I think the Texans O-Line was a major reason for the great numbers.

Let's see him try to run on our broke down shit line.

Don't we have our draft pick from last year? Daniel Kilgore? Harbaugh has a nose for offensive talent, so if he feels he is able to step in I trust him. Snyder wasn't very good anyway.

Cards getting Snyder is good. Now they won't steal DeCastro before we can draft him. Jerrah just re-sign Robinson and we can call this offseason a success, well except for the whole 10 million lost in cap space thing.

Players just visit Buffalo to get offered deals to use as leverage for teams that are actual contenders. The team is a joke and should get the hell out of upstate New York and play somewhere they may actually be respected.

(No Toronto is not any better there... have you seen the Blue Jays land a coveted free agent in baseball and make a playoff run lately? How about the Raptors?)

Brees is a bit bitchy:

"I've played under the franchise tag before, back in 2005, and that ended with 13 anchors in my right shoulder and a 25 percent chance of playing football again. That didn't work out too well for me. I've talked to the Saints about this many times. They definitely know my desire to have a long-term deal, and hopefully they want me to have that as well. We will continue discussions and hopefully get a long-term deal done."

Nah.

When sitting at the kids table, the only way to get out is to build through the draft.

It's a vicious cycle as you can't get the best coaches, who you need to develop the draft choices, so your teams sucks, and you have a shitty rep, so you can't even attract good FAs, and you can't get the best coaches . . .

Nope but I did see the Blue Jays win two world series and spend like crazy back then. They're well on their way back, it'll take a while but they're rebuilding the right way.

Raptors, can't say nothing bout them.

I wish this Manning fiasco would end already. Are you coming to Denver or not?

Bud Adams is trying to pull out all the stops.

Long day at work. With the way things are going I would be surprised if Peyton did become a Bronco. Sounds like the Titans will do whatever it takes to land him. I understand that Bowlen will match him blow for blow as far as money is concerned, but I'm sure Adams has something more to offer.

The good part about not landing Manning is that we have a ton of cap space. We have draft picks this year. We are still in a weak division. Maybe Tebow improves, maybe we land a good QB prospect. I'm still excited even if we don't get him.

I just wish the process would hurry up so we can get to work. Sign Bunkley first of all.

Or land a stud FA with a chip on his shoulder and build around him.

The only way to get a stud FA when at the kids table is to overpay, which tends to cure chips on shoulders

lol at Brees. They've offered him a huge contract. Whether he chooses to sign it is up to him. Don't act like you are being forced to take this giant injury risk by playing on a one year deal. You are the one with the choice

Giants sign their new TE: Martellus Bennet

Ralph Vacchiano @TheBlueScreen
Ladies and gentlemen, your new Giants tight end ... RT @MartellusB: I'm officially a New York Giant!! #NYG

Edit: I hear deal is 1 year $2.5 million

It's either that or paying Garcon 50 mil, would you want that? All the other established top tier WRs are gone for ridiculous money. Quite curious actually how much Welker will get.

How so? He's pretty much saying he wants long-term guaranteed money in case something guys awry and he gets hurt.

Of course, from his point of view it makes a lot of sense. But I don't think he should openly say it like that. "Give me more money over a longer time cause there's a real possibility of me getting hurt and being unable to play" doesn't sound like a great pitch to me.
