It's either that or paying Garcon 50 mil, would you want that? All the other established top tier WRs are gone for ridiculous money. Quite curious actually how much Welker will get.

Actually, yes, I would have over-payed for Garcon. Then target a WR in the draft and hope he develops to a true #1. You can't forever not make a move b/c you are slave to value. You end up like the Cleveland and have a perpetual QB problem.

BPA and that stuff is for teams that don't have gaping needs.

edit: Mario Williams has left 1 Bills Drive for the evening. He plans to stay in Buffalo for the evening and return to 1 Bills Drive in the am.

The Pats seem reluctant to pay him a lot of money at this age.
WR contracts are ridiculous right now. Laurent Robinson just got 1 million less in guaranteed money for the life of his contract than DeSean Jackson. It's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison as we'd need to see breakdown of what he's getting up front since DeSean got 11 million right off the bat in a signing bonus but when clear #3 guys are pulling that in....yikes.

I wonder what's taking so long for the Bills to sign him. Didn't the Bills offer him one of the biggest contracts ever?

So...Laurent Robinson, that better be a lot of incentives because it seems like he's only had a few good games.

Great talent. Always hurt. Slight frame.

Bill Barnwell: Remember, folks who insist Jags have a late-rd grade on Tebow and won't change; Jags could have had Robinson for free and passed. Now $32m.

Garcon getting more guaranteed money then djax is insane.

I kinda see your frustration but flashy FA signings on offense rarely pay off. Build the line first, give your QB a running game. Flashy receiving threats will have to wait. Besides, I'm not sold on Garcon sans Manning (pardon the pun).

He out produced Wayne and Clark combined without Manning last year. The big question is can he produce as a #1? He had good a good year last year but I think the majority of his stats were in garbage time and he drops a lot of balls.

No team has dumped more into the OL than the Rams. Ground and pound doesn't work anymore. There are fluky, non-sustainable exceptions like SF last year. But to consistently win, you have to throw it. I'm not saying Garcon and Meachem are the answer. I'm saying that coming out of FA and the best WR on your roster is Brandon Gibson is asinine.

Actually that's not fair. I'm not sure if he's under contract or not. b/c no one, anywhere, even his parents, care where the fuck he plays

"I've played under the franchise tag before, back in 2005, and that ended with 13 anchors in my right shoulder and a 25 percent chance of playing football again. That didn't work out too well for me. I've talked to the Saints about this many times. They definitely know my desire to have a long-term deal, and hopefully they want me to have that as well. We will continue discussions and hopefully get a long-term deal done."

that didn't work out too well for you drew? a 6 year, $60 million contract "doesn't work out too well"? this guy is a gigantic fucking douchebag

They were in the running for Tolbert as well from what I remember. Still wouldn't mind the Giants bringing in Mike for a look see. If he's not expecting big money.

Hope this means The Lawfirm stays in NE, apparently the Chiefs were interested.

Also, WHY CAN'T I JUST LOG-IN ON THAT WEIRD IRC CHAT THING!

Padding stats, padding wallets...

..and with that Hillis signing comes another RB deal:

Interesting. Wonder who Denver goes after, once these Manninigans are done with. I doubt he comes to Denver, but I wouldn't mind adding Michael Bush.

He has his moments, I'm just not sure it's worth 50 mil is all.

The KC deal with Hillis was a cheapie one, too.

Adam Schefter ‏ @AdamSchefter

Turns out that former Browns RB Peyton Hillis signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Chiefs.

From Madden cover boy to a one year deal. I'm sure he expected to get big money coming off of the year he had.

Of course, from his point of view it makes a lot of sense. But I don't think he should openly say it like that. "Give me more money over a longer time cause there's a real possibility of me getting hurt and being unable to play" doesn't sound like a great pitch to me.

It's a terrible sales pitch, but he's being honest about the realities of professional football. I don't fault anyone for being honest though, especially coming from a guy whose proven himself to be a winner on and off the field like Brees. The Saint's FO are the ones acting like bitches.

cards sign former niner guard adam snyder. some niners fans might complain about this was he was pretty bad. he only seemed decent because he replaced chilo rachal.

With all of the quality guards available this year the Cardinals appear to be taking the line of least resistance and aren’t allowing themselves to be drawn in to a bidding war for their services. Instead they are starting right at the bottom of the pile and according to Adam Schefter they are on the verge of signing Adam Snyder from division rival San Francisco. Snyder was consistently poor for the 49ers where ever he started but did have two of his better games (-0.2, +0.3) against the Cardinals this season. This is better news for the 49ers than the Cardinals on two counts. 1) They get to face Snyder twice a season, Ray McDonald should be very excited. 2) They get to clean house at right guard with the infuriatingly inconsistent Chilo Rachal also hitting free agency. Word has it they have a visit lined up with former Cardinal, Cowboy and Lion G Leonard Davis about filling their open spot at RG with other options being explored by the front office as well.

This is exactly how I feel. We have Kilgore... I just hope he doesn't literally kill Gore.

This FA madness and NBA trade deadline is driving me nuts.

Players just visit Buffalo to get offered deals to use as leverage for teams that are actual contenders. The team is a joke and should get the hell out of upstate New York and play somewhere they may actually be respected.

(No Toronto is not any better there... have you seen the Blue Jays land a coveted free agent in baseball and make a playoff run lately? How about the Raptors?)

Excuse me, but what's wrong w/ Buffalo? I mean as a city.

well we need to bring in a vet RG. we all saw what happened with anthony davis: when chilo, who is a fucking loser and has no fucking clue what he's doing, was in there then davis couldn't trust him and his fundamentals broke down. then adam snyder comes in, who is a veteran and is much better than chilo, and suddenly davis is no longer a liability and actually had a pretty good season.

i'm very happy with FA so far though. we got all of our defense resigned at fair deals and we picked up some depth and dirt cheap prices. for the rest of FA i think we need to find a guard and maybe a couple more WR's. on the WR front, i just want to sign enough WR's to guarantee that kyle williams gets cut and is blackballed out of the league so he can go play for the whitesox.

the best part about us handling our business in FA is that we can truly draft BPA in the draft. when was the last time we could say that as niners fans? there was always some huge hole and now we're pretty solid across the board

p.s. lulz almost completely forgot about alex smith. yeah we need to sign him too. something doesn't sit right with me about him not signing yet. i wonder what's going on...

Alex is going to sign with the Jets and we are going to unleash Kaepernick. The league ain't ready.

Can one of you 9er faithful tell me why Snyder is not very good? I don't watch a ton of their games besides our two meetings a year.

He gives up pressure quickly against stronger DE/DTs and isn't very athletic, he's solid though.
