Another loss, if they are going to lose anyways they might as well go back to the lineup they had when they were on a winning streak. I think it will be all over tomorrow. Chicago will put them out of their misery.

When Anthony first returned -- and it still appears to be the case -- Lin would bring the ball up court and try to run D'Antoni's system. When Anthony would abandon the offense, Lin would not pass him the ball, which irritated Anthony, sources said. So when Lin tried to talk to Anthony on the court, Anthony would turn his back to the point guard and tune him out. The two never had heated exchanges, though, and the players tried to come to a compromise, agreeing to run D'Antoni's system while also mixing in post-ups for Anthony.

"But it's just a mess because D'Antoni's system is not designed for that," one source said.

If anything it's Melo that should be telling him what to do. I don't think Lin has yet earned the right to be posturing at vet players. I bet there is a lot of resentment on that team.

Why? I know Melo is a superstar but he isn't playing like one so screw him. Bring in Shumpert.

I haven't been paying attention, but has it been established that this guy was just on a hot streak and nothing else, or has he actually BEEN consistent?

Code:
By Position GP	MIN	FGM-FGA FG%	3PM-3PA	3P%	FTM-FTA	FT%	OR	DR	REB	AST	BLK	STL	PF	TO	PTS
As Starting Guard	18	36.3	7.0-15.6	.448	1.1-2.9	.358	5.1-6.7	.752	0.7	2.8	3.6	8.6	0.3	2.4	2.5	5.1	20.1

His numbers as a starter are still pretty consistent. But those numbers aren't translating into wins. I can't watch every NYK game, but he's basically a rookie, playing +36mpg, every other day, without practice. So... Hey. I think he's capable of being a starting PG in this league.

Over the losing streak he's averaging 16 and 7, with 3.8 TOs. He's super bad with the TOs, but it's below his starting average of 5.1. 16 and 7 is plenty respectable for a PG.

He's getting that 16 points by averaging about 15 shot attempts per game and shooting under 40%. 15 shots to get 16 points is not that great.

It's horrible for some who hasn't earned the right to take that many shots. I'd be mad if i were melo too.

He should be mad at himself. Everything was going just fine till he showed up. Give us back the old starting line up, they at least had some heart. I don't even care if they don't go very far, they'd win a game once in a while but the way it is going now they are destined to lose everything. I can sympathize with Baron Davis though, he is actually useful eventhough he is not what he used to be.

Well it can't be just a big coincidence that since Melo is back they lose almost every game. Kinda hilarious that they traded their whole team for that guy.

So the problem is Melo and Lin haven't figured out how to play as a team and their styles clash too much?

Shouldn't it be D'Antoni telling Lin and Melo what to do and how to play together?! Basketball is weird yo

Maybe the only way you can run that team is by playing . I figured out the solution, Mike D'Antoni should get a jersey and put himself in the starting lineup. At this point what does he have to lose?

You're kidding yourself if you think Knicks are any better with Lin being the man. During that miracle stretch, Knicks played shitty ass teams outside of Lakers and Mavs (and both Lakers and Mavs have 50 year old's as their starting PG). Plus, Lin surprised a lot of teams with his play initially, but once they watched some of his tapes, teams were figuring him out left and right - which turned him into a turnover machine.

Just look at the game vs. Heat, Lin had statistically THE worst game of all time in NBA history (no lie, this was posted here and in NBAGaf), that's quite a feat.

With that said, I think Lin will be a solid starting PG. Maybe potential for top 15 PG in the league.

Yep seems like it.

He was a turnover machine during the stretch as well and of course they're better with Lin than with Chumpert at PG, but Baron should easily be better than both of em.

Melo doesn't really understand the D'Antoni offense yet.

I blame LaLa.

I always blame LaLa.

So is Melo wrecking the system's spacing or not?

With Dantoni gone, tonight will be interesting at least.

I'm not watching the game right now but it seems they are not going back to the old system so it is up to the superstars to play like superstars today. I don't think they want to lose another game and this is not a great team so they just need to do their jobs. They cant lose another game.

Do you understand how basketball works? The coach calls the plays. The players (led by the point guard) are to run those plays. I don't care if you're Michael Jordan himself, you (Melo) are not above the team or above the coach.

It's clear the guy was just on a hot streak but the media won't let that go.

Pardon me if I missed your sarcasm but again, if you watch basketball it's obvious he's legit. Can he coexist with Melo is an entirely different question, but if Melo was playing coach as suggested above then he needs to get shipped to another team where he can wonder aloud why he's got one career playoff win.

lol what the fuck? Knicks win by 42 points today after D'Antoni resigns :lol

Did you see the game or some of the highlights? The players on the other team were like zombies, their minds were somewhere else. Unless you expect JR Smith to blow past Miami on a blaze of three point shots this doesn't prove anything. The Knicks were celebrating like it was the championship game.

Nah..just saw the score and posted. I figured the other team must have done very poorly though.

Which apparently is what happened here with Melo yea? So the players are just happy and go around shooting like madmen, having fun? I guess it doesn't hurt to go against what seems like a terrible team.

Is this actually true? I don't follow bball that much, do coaches leave teams midseason often?

teams tend to get a bounce after a coach leaves before returning to their previous ways in a week or so. this always results in people singing the praises of the new coach before inevitably hating him just like the last one once the team starts to sink again, and rest assured the knicks will start to stink again. changing the ship's captain doesn't change the fact that the hull's rotten to the core.
