And I don't feel bad for the Magic one bit. They are run by morons. For one, they do a HORRIBLE job of surrounding Dwight with talent. They build shit around him for years. His second best players were crap like Jameer, Vince, gimpy Arenas, Hedon't and Shard.

Secondly, they handled this terribly. They should have shopped Dwight HARD during the off/preseason. That would have been the best chance to get some real talent in return, because teams who would rent him for a year would have been in play. They had delusions of grandeur about thtis whole situation, thinking they could convince him to stay when he's had one foot out the door for over a year.

It was such a mirror image of the Lebron situation, where Cleveland did a shit job of surrounding Lebron with talent, only at lead you could kind of forgive the Cavs because in hindsight they couldn't trade him because he was the hometown boy, and until the Cavs were exposed, they thought they had a legit shot at a title that might convince him to say. Orlando should have looked long and hard at that situation and not repeated the same mistakes.

Beasly and a PG without giving up Pau would be nice.

Pretty much.

Beas as a 5th option ain't bad. Still a headcase, though.

MWP, Beas and Barnes on the same team?

At least we'll have a decent PG.

Fisher/Sessions
Bean
Beas
Pau
Manum

MWP, Mini-Mamba, Barnes, McBobs off the bench.

Hmm...why not?

But at least they finally got 1 win in the Finals.

Plus the only reason they wanted Dwight to opt-in was so they could get better offers for him.

Such a terribly run team.

Yeah, I think teams in the future need to learn that when a guy doesn't sign an extension with you in the previous year, you should trade him during the off season. Waiting until the deadline kills any leverage you have.

No. Bench is Sessions. Why would you put Fish on the bench? he can't do anything for them.

As a starter, he still gets open shots. On the bench, watch his turnovers skyrocket and shooting percentages drop more.

Plus, Sessions is NOT a spot up shooter. He is a PnR guard. he doesn't fit in as well with starters. I'm telling you, Lakers are better with Sessions getting all minutes off the bench, but playing 32 mpg at least. Minimize how often he's with the 2 bigs + Kobe until closing time.

Look, I hate Fisher starting and playing right now as much as anyone, but this is about basketball. Basketball wise, Sessions is better with the bench unit than Fisher. It's about what makes the team better.

of course, I'd rather have Blake start and Sessions as the backup...

I agree with everything you say, though you and I both know that Murphy would still play over McRoberts.

Hope this trade will go through.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON.

I think it's a bit different from the cavs. The elimination games that the cavs were in Lebron seemed to be pretty indifferent/passive. At his best he's easily the best player in basketball and i don't think it was ever an issue of talent when you have the best record in the NBA.

But yeah, bad scene all around. Amazing that they all saw "the decision" but yet still really didn't learn the lessons and thought it didn't apply to them.

The only thing I can think happened if Dwight really does opt in is that Deron got word out to the Nets and to Dwight's people that he is leaving NJ no matter what. Everyone just assumed he would stay if Dwight became a Net but there has been too much smoke to the "Deron to Dallas" fire all year long for that not to be a legit option for him. Plus Dwight might be seeing what is happening to Melo after forcing a trade to a singular destination and having too many non-basketball reasons to do so and is having second thoughts. Instead of going to rot in Jersey with a Deron-less Nets team, he can basically give teams another year to get their shit together, woo him and put better offers together.

If true the Nets are kind of screwed. Do they even have time to field offers for Deron if Howard signs the opt-in?

Man, wouldn't that like be a downgrade for them? Wouldn't it just be better to get Sessions?

.

I'm glad Bynum is staying healthy and finally having a great season. Happy for him. Really. I do not trust his knees. I don't want to have to decide in a year whether or not we will give him a 5 year/$75 million. I'd rather have Deron, roll with him, Kobe and Gasol for the next 3 years and then blow it up around D-Will.

ehhhh fuck that's such a tough call. Bynum is balling SO HARD right now.

SO MUCH THIS. We hate on the players for screwing teams and the management never does anything until the players threaten to leave. I for one don't feel sorry for orlando magic. Same thing happened with lebron. Look at the lakers, kobe/shaq, kobe/pau and now maybe even pau/kobe/bynum. Can't say the same for dwight or lebron while in cleveland.

EDIT: And kobe had to threaten to leave to get even pau there but notice they didn't get a washed up player like vince, arenas or aarp shaq.

Does Deron want to play in LA? I mean I can see why the default assumption is that everyone wants to play for the Lakers, but I don't know if that is what Deron wants. It's hard to say because he hasn't had a chance to be a free agent yet.

Yeah, that's actually a legit concern. I must admit I've been on the whole Magic shouldn't trade Howard for Bynum because of injury results, so I got suckered into forgetting about how injury prone he is. But Deron, Kobe, and Gasol would be a sick trio, would Gasol just play the 5 in that case?

The Lakers have such an advantage with their size, I'd be very reluctant to get rid of Bynum but of course, his health history might "win" out in the end.

Dude is way wider than Dwight and it's common for him to get 2 foot good looks.

I think he can hit freethrows as well, not sure his percentage.

I think there was a report that he wouldn't mind staying in LA. Apparently he has a place there or something?
