The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

Join the winning team. Once you play iOS games on iPad it's impossible to go back to iPod touch/iPhone!
Can't justify spending that much money on a tablet. Already bought a Windpad 110W for $350 and harder to justify it when it's just an oversized iPhone. Near-enough to the same resolution and essentially same capabilities, I'm not jumping in.

No offense but that thing looks terrible. Seems like an iPad 2 at $399 would be infinitely more recommendable.

My gaming on my iPhone outnumbers my iPad gaming (and general use) by a huge factor. I think the iPad is a bit unwieldy for gaming most of the time.

I've had an iPad 1 and 2 since their respective launches essentially btw (little bit later on upgrading to the 2).

See, I didn't buy it for looks. I bought it for Win8, Android, out-of-the-box MKV support and compatibility with all x86 applications. And a base-model Windpad is far more functional than a base-model iPad 2.

An iPad just isn't for me. I'm not denying it's not a cool device, but I really don't see any point when I have a 4S.

I feel the same way. My 11-inch MBA is so much more functional than an iPad yet just as portable, with the same great SSD speeds and instant-on action the iPad offers. And since I also have a 4S, I can't think of where in my life an iPad would fit.

That screen alone is so tempting, but I can't justify the purchase. I try to imagine scenarios where an iPad would offer an immensely more satisfying experience than my MBA, and I'm at a loss.

If the MacBooks still get the shitty low-res LCD treatment this year, wrists will be slashed

Fireball Special Edition (aka Fireball SE) from Radiangames (that's me) is out now. It's $0.99 for the first week ($1.99 after that), and is a Universal app (iPhone 3GS or later). As a fee for posting about my own game, here are 3 free download codes:

YMEPHMKNN9PT
XA9LMJKXY6RJ
4N7W7HKF6EA9

Fireball SE is an object-avoidance game (like Tilt to Live or Geometry Wars' Pacifism mode). Here's the launch trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7im7ZEga98

And the iTunes link:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fireball-se/id503579786?mt=8

After jumping around between XBLIG, iOS, and PC for the past couple years, I'm focused solely on iOS until Radiangames makes it or I run out of money. Next games coming to iOS are Ballistic, Inferno+, and Slydris (likely in that order). Hopefully there will be more after that :)

And just to weigh in on iPad vs. iPod gaming, I prefer iPad strongly because of my large hands (I'm 6'7"), but I rarely take it with me out of the house, unlike my iPod Touch. I generally find that any good iPhone games are more enjoyable for me on iPad.

Love your games. Seriously.

If anyone cares I read a tweet that Modern Combat 3 is .99cents.

Sorted for the night, I have to sit at work for 6 hours with no power while the engineers fix shit.

*edit* woah 720p airplay compatible too :o
Chaos Rings (1) dropped to $4. Buy now or quit yer whining.

edit:

Omega dropped to $5 as well

chaos rings 1 is a great game still, good time to pick it up for ipad methinks.

i think it might have been death rally. would you recommend reckless racing 2 over the other two?

Personally, I think I enjoyed Death Rally the most. Thing is, I reckon your description sounded much more like Reckless Racing 2 so that might be the one you want.

As these are iOS games, I'd probably just buy 'em all. In fact, I did. Reckless Racing 1 too.

yeah same just bought dat shit
OK, but if you're going to be playing violent video-games, I'm going to keep a close eye on you.

it doesn't necessarily need powerups, just looking for a good top down racer with or without weapons.

You can't really go wrong with either then. Death Rally has plenty of weapons and upgrades, Reckless Racing has better racing but no weapons. Pick one, PM me your email and I'll gift you the other.

haha i appreciate it, but it seems death rally is only a buck, so i might as well just get both myself. which i shall do... now.

Love your games. Bought the bundle you released...in January? Hope you do well on iOS!

Bought Chaos Rings and Omega, that's cheap enough for me. And I want to give incentive to SE's new SiSiLaLa Overdrive drag queen mobile RPG endeavor.

Agreed.....really fun so far... The only thing that concerns me is the $3.99 car max options.... It's such a leader board game that it seems like the iap might tilt the balance.

Hi Attractivetb,

The IAPs may give an advantage on day one, but that's not really the intent. There's nothing in IAP that can't be earned by playing the game through 100%. It's an option for players with less time.

Regarding the comments about Universal, we definitely hear the feedback.

Any other questions about MotoHeroz, feel free to ask me or check our MotoHeroz iOS forum. Thanks!

just bought this, looks great! best of luck in the iOS scene.

So, what you're saying is, you bought your device for practical usage. How archaic. :P

I agree, though. If you have a 4S, an iPad would be an unnecessary luxury. Great if you have the luxury of unlimited cash.

Lumines (iPhone) is going to look like garbage on the 3rd gen iPad. I really hope Ubisoft springs for an iOS port of Electronic Symphony sometime down the road.

Finally gave in and bought Where's My Water. Pretty solid. Guess I shoulda bought it when they were giving away Cranky's Story.. think someone mentioned that recently.

So my iTunes account was hacked yesterday morning and they spent most of my credit. I changed my password. Contacted Apple. They locked my account, and said they would refund my money and then unlock my account if I asked them to. I asked them to. I got my refund, but my account was still locked. Later in the day I changed my password again, which allowed me to sign in to Gamecenter, but still locked out of buying or updating anything from the App Store. Today, still locked. Is there something I need to do, or do I just need to wait longer?

I would send them another email or call them up.

Sucks that that happened.

I still can't get over the fact of how fucking greedy Square-Enix is. Been looking at Chaos Rings Omega for hours but I can't decide which one to get since I'll probably buy an iPad 3. Even Cave jumped on the Universal bandwagon ffs.
