UPDATE! :

Danny Amendola spotted at Patriots facility

Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England recently speculated that the Patriots might have interest in Rams restricted free agent receiver Danny Amendola. Amendola played for new Pats offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels in St. Louis last season.

Curran’s thinking might have some merit.

Scott Zolak of 98.5 The Sports Hub/Patriots All Access tweeted Thursday morning that Amendola was spotted at Patriots club headquarters last night.

Amendola isn’t the first former undrafted free agent slot receiver type from Texas Tech in which New England has had interest. During the 2007 offseason, the Patriots traded second- and seventh-round picks to the Dolphins to acquire Wes Welker’s rights. Like Amendola, Welker was an undrafted free agent slot receiver who played college ball for Mike Leach.

The Patriots are also scheduled to host free agent Anthony Gonzalez, another slot receiver, on Friday night.

Mostly quiet free agency from the Panthers so far.

I think our loudest moves have been not resigning Shockey(that's because of his loud-ass mouth, not because it's a great loss in talent on the field) and Wharton (he was good, but we can find another OG of similar quality for a lower pricetag).

We also cut J. Baker (Thank God!) and didn't re-up Naanee (Thank You Based God!), while resigning Derek Anderson (Cam needs a back-up not named Jimmy Clausen) and Geoff Hangartner for the o-line.

Overall, I'm okay with this. Jerry blew his load (and probably his checkbook) last year resigning everybody, so we don't have the cap room to make the big moves (i.e. Tampa Bay finally spending money). But it's been the policy of this team to build through the draft and keep the home-grown talent home, and it's been a policy that's worked well to this point in the Hurney regime.

who blows their load resigning everyone after a 2-14 season?

Garrard will be visiting the Lions. Anyone think he'll be satisfied at the number 2 spot, possibly only getting a few snaps like Hill did last year?

I hope we sign him and really believes he has a shot as the starter

14. Broke it about a week and a half ago in a hockey game, started healing incorrectly, hence the surgery.

Hope it goes well bro! But use this as a learning experience to get your son into a real sport.

An owner with a pro-bowl caliber running back, a defensive end coming off of an otherworldly year, and a mike backer who's been considered to be one of the best in the league for his entire career. All were due to be free agents this year or last.

He also wasted money on Olindo Mare's choking butt and Legedu No Hands, for what it's worth.

Yeah, Jerry overspent like a motherfucker last year, and probably blew up the DE and RB markets with those deals for Deangelo and Charles Johnson, but the lockout had just ended and he was in a charitable mood.

Jon beason wouldn't even start on the niners lololol

I'm not worried about him going anywhere (suck it FMT) it's the waiting I can't stand.

With the WRs that have been gobbled up, Cincy really is the only one left that can put in a serious offer. And if they want to pony up big enough cash, which they never do, plus give up a number 1, let them. As was pointed out in the post gazette the other day, in the salary cap era, Ward has been the only WR the Steelers have ever locked up long term. Now, having said that, with Ward being gone, I think Steelers would be dopes not to get at least 3-5 more years out of Wallace.

Kevin Ogletree is visiting the Giants as per Schefter:

One day after former Dallas TE Martellus Bennett signed with New York, Cowboys WR Kevin Ogleetree is visiting the Giants today.
I suppose he'd be cheap insurance and a replacement for Devin Thomas on ST (who looks to be signing elsewhere).

Number for David Carr signing:

Just got the numbers on David Carr. It's a minimum deal: one year, $925k, $65k signing bonus. #nyg

Update:

Chris Mortensen ‏ @mortreport

Bills have a 1:30 presser to announce Mario Williams signing, per sources.
I have a feeling the Calvin Johnson contract is about to be made to look small in so far as comparing defensive player salaries.

Woohoo Buffalo! Now just draft smartly and we should be pretty well off! Perhaps go after a WR in the draft to take some heat off Johnson.
