I guess Schefter says Mario's contract is 6 years
Yep. No word on the money yet. I'm guessing between 90-110 million. 32-34 million guaranteed

EDIT: apparently I'm being way too conservative on the guaranteed money side! :jnc

Albatross.

Say goodbye to the interior OL and Byrd. At least the fans got what they wanted.

Isnt the idea that by overpaying for Mario you send the message that the Bill are going to be serious going forward and hopefully this will get other players to want to play there. The Bills have been stuck in this build through the draft cycle for a long time without much to show for it. Maybe this will help get them over the hump.

Woohoo Buffalo! Now just draft smartly and we should be pretty well off! Perhaps go after a WR in the draft to take some heat off Johnson.

Yeah, we definitely need some WR help. Bills are still in talks with Mario Manningham to my knowledge, and even if we get him I suspect we'll either draft a WR or two.

Would be amusing if we get Manningham though. This would forever be remembered as the Super Mario Bros. offseason :D

They've been stuck in rebuild mode because they've drafted poorly. Need to keep the talent they have and add via FA, but I don't see how we're going to pay Mario all this money and keep one of the best guard and safety in the league.

Hope the know what they're doing.

Some more good news for you, La Canorfa is saying $16 mil a year and $50 mil guaranteed is what he is hearing, and isn't out of the question.

Wouldn't be as bad. I read 115m somewhere else.

Edit: No thanks Manningham, get me Kendall Wright instead. Though they need a LT too.

Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus and Mario Williams will be a good combo on the DL. Was Kyle's injury a serious one? That can be a forceful lineup.

I'd like to see Dareus do better, perhaps with Mario around, that'll happen. Were the Bills going back to a 4-3? Would this signing signal that Buffalo would not choose Upshaw on Draft Day?

If the Bills get a healthy motivated Mario next year they could compete for a playoff spot. Their offense looked really good at times, and another year in the system should be Fitz.

I fucking hope it doesn't cost us Byrd. Ralph has one guy who handles all cap issues, the GM doesn't do shit. They go to Overdorf and ask if they can sign X, if he says yes they can go ahead, lol. I'm sure they've crunched the numbers, don't think Buddy is dumb, hope not.

Kyle had a bone spur that was impinge his Achilles, had it for a few seasons. Says he hasn't walked this well since college, but who knows. I'm not a doctor and I've read conflicting shit.

Doubt they go Upshaw, would be a disservice to him actually, you never know though. He's as stout as it gets against the run, and run D has been an issue. Can't set the edge for shit.

Looks like I'll be putting my Mario Williams jersey in that spot right next to my Dunta Robinson jersey.

Funny thing is I still don't see Buffalo Bills as a threat.

Barring drafting a wideout, I mentioned earlier that Mario would probably be a good fit with the Bills because you have an established #1 in Stevie Johnson. He can do well as a #2. If he signs with a team that gives him big money and forces him into a #1 receiver position, I think he'll flounder.

Heh @ Rodgers:

Aaron Rodgers ‏ @AaronRodgers12

Congrats to Mario Williams signing in buffalo... far away from the NFC north, thanks big guy

Alonzo Mourning is the only jersey I've ever not had to retire.

Jason Taylor
Zach Thomas
Chris Chambers
Ricky Williams
Shaquille O'Neal
Scott Mellanby

All jerseys of mine that at one point had to be temporarily retired. I want to get a Wake jersey but I'm pretty certain if I do he'll end up getting traded.

I really doubt this signing will cost us Byrd. This was a statement signing, not something that's going to become a regularity at OBD. Nix has said their top priority is to keep the guys they have. Unless his whole philosophy has changed, I don't see losing guys as a problem.

I advise you to buy a Wake jersey.

Bills instead of bears all about dat $$$

Gl bills age I'm sure he'll have as much success against lord Brady as he did against peyton! He pretty much went to texans-lite why not the BEARS

I've watched a lot of Manningham, he'll be asked to do the one thing he does best but Fitz has a shitty deepball and he's going to have to fight for the ball in the air, not sure he's going to be able to do that. He's used to Manning throwing a near perfect ball down the sideline.

Hopefully it doesn't cost us any of the guys from next year. We really pay no one, we'll end up drafting a LT and pay him below market for a few years. They just need to shore up the guys that are do next year, after that there's no one for a few years (besides Wood). So if they lock up the interior and Byrd, smooth sailing for 3 years.

These contracts will be fucking the Giants over when it's time to resign Nicks and Tuck, even Knee...

These insane contracts are fucking everybody over. It's gonna be hard for the Pats to keep Welker and I would have liked to see them keep Anderson and Carter, but that is becoming more unlikely.

Nicks and JPP are the two that frighten me the most. Thankfully, the TV money will have kicked in and the cap should explode by the time they are up for resigning. Both are going to make frightening money if they continue to produce at the level they are. Reese will do his best to lowball though!:D

Tuck? I'm not terribly worried. He'll get a Trent Cole like extension from the Giants that won't break the bank. Keep in mind he'll be 29 and has a good bit of wear and tear.

How is Colorado State even in this game against Murray State? Those white boys from Colorado arn't letting the Racers get to the basket, so they have been settling for terrible jump shots

oh, and those Kansas State Jerseys are so fucking ugly

Tuck's deal before wasn't that bad. Snee got his big deal four years ago, still time on his left. I doubt he commands big money as he's entering his 30's.

Nicks is the next Giant to get a big deal, I imagine. JPP won't for a few years.

I would have had more respect about Mario if he had never said it was about the money.

Well good for him I guess. Getting paid more than VY.

Congrats to the Bills for being able to pull the deal for Mario #1 off. I didn't think they would.
Will be even better if they can manage to land Mario #2.

WHO-HOO!

I know, it's silly money, but fuck it. I'll take a team trying to get the right players to win rather than a team not even giving a shit.

Pretty excited about our chances at a playoff run this year.

*glares at Fitzpatrick*
