There are special breeds of lawn grass that only need to be mowed like twice a year. Maybe they got really popular prior to the outbreak.
I think if it's recently planted it also doesn't need to be mowed for a long time? Both my friend and uncle put in grass last year and haven't had to mow it yet, and I'm sure they didn't buy anything special.

Some of us don't follow the comic relligiously, but how about this?

If Daryl makes it into the comics, I may have to start looking into them!

Where'd that come from? Future cover? Daryl coming to the comics?!?

Reedus has been badgering Kirkman to put him in the comic, so it's very much possible... Although I wonder how much this is just fan service vs 'Daryl could be really beneficial to the direction of the book'.

What was poorly explained? Nothing was explained yet as far as I know. People have been catching on but nothing on the show has been actually explained. Though the season finale will obviously mention it.

Anyway it's not as complicated as some people make it out to be, if you die with your brain in tact, it seems you become a walker.

Georgia's had a pretty crazy drought for a few years now, so I don't think the grass grows all that much unless you water it.

Yeah, I'm talking mostly about the people in the cars. I'd have to rewatch the series to see if I could find other examples of dead people who didn't become zombies. Had thought the camper guy was another one, but someone brought up that he wrote a note saying he was bit.

Was the soldier in the tank from the pilot episode bitten?

Yes. Rick even shot the overweight guy in the head after killing him.

And he did so promptly after he put one in his chest and gut.

Which means he probably fully bought into Jenner's words at that point. I really hope they address whether he believed in Jenner at first and also why he'd hiding that information from the group, even if those the answers are probably pretty obvious.

Not "actually" shown, but the dialogue from the actor (Sam Witwer) and Frank Darabount, was that he had been bitten. That soldier was to be the central role in a planned season 2 opening episode, that centered on a military unit going into Atlanta, and takes place during the fall of the city (and civilization). Episode ends with him taking refuge in that tank, almost using the grenade to blow himself up, but instead just dies. Episode ends with Rick from the Pilot, coming into the tank, and taking the grenade (used to escape the CDC)

Were the drifters who were killed in the bar shot in the head?

1st guy was a direct headshot, 2nd guy was shot twice in the chest, then headshotted when he was on the ground.

Whoa didn't realize that was Witwer.

The scene in the beginning when Rick is walking to the house and the barn is shown in the background, please tell me I wasn't the only person who saw a face (windows and entrance)?

HOLY SHIT, he was the zombie in the tank!?

Aw what? I would have loved to see that prequel!

They were going to have it be a stand-alone episode during this season apparently.

I just have a big feeling this show is going to be a shadow of what it could have been. It's too bad I love zombies and want to support the people on the show or I'd just drop it.

Why does AMC need to be so good and act so dickish? Good thing Vince Gilligan is such a smart dude or he'd have been fucked over too.

I really would of liked to have seen that prequel. I've always felt this show could use some Lost style flashbacks or interesting stand alone episodes focusing on civilization's downfall.

(Possible spoilers)
Glen Mazzara was apparently at some media conference, I found a summary of what was said at this forum.

This is what I found the most interesting:

On Shane's Death and where that leads Rick.
Glen Mazzara:The Show's focus was always on Rick. Rick dealing with issues of leadership. At first he was lost, and he needed a decisive act in his life to cement his character and leadership abilities in this new world. Episode 12 was really not about Shane dying, but about the act of Rick killing Shane.

Was Shane's way the way?
Shane has been right in most of his calls but he's a flawed character, lacks humanity and compassion, Rick has are leadership qualities but lacked the violent nature of Shane. With Shane's death, Rick has been infected with some of Shane's personality.

Don't really see how those are spoilers, just character development speculation.

Yes yes yes yes! That's exactly how Rick should be. All the badass qualities of Shane minus being a psycho, and all the compassion/humanity that he already had. He has shown glimpses of having all of that but he still mostly had only the latter, but post-killing shane, looks like he is going all the way.

I hope at least. Rick is cool but he needs to be quicker to handle his shit on the show.

That pretty much follows Rick's development in the books. It is not as bad as it sounds, really (actually, it's a welcome change)

-Super mild spoiler (so silly it's not even one):
his balls finally drop so to speak.

"Cry me a river." ?

Must.......not........read.........spoilers. BE STRONG REDD

I wouldn't even call them spoilers (that's why I'm not posting them in the spoiler thread). If you've seen the last three episodes you already get the idea.

I'm only using the
code because some people get extra itchy otherwise.

Edit: What -Pyromaniac- said.

I think the overall message Rick has learned from the Randal situation and the Shane situation is to never let a problem grow and get out of hand. Handle it asap, one way or another.

I'm having such a hard time to resist the spoilers! I must be strong!

I'm pretty sensitive to them but after reading Funky Papa's description I took a look and it's completely fine. Of course just talking about posts 9628 and 9630. Just perspective on a character really.

Yeah, that's why I spoiler tagged the post. They're not really spoilers at all but I know some people won't want to see them.

Hated the tease of Firebombing Atlanta, earlier in the season.

Hated it, because it looked cool, and I'd like to see what the initial public reaction was like, instead of just having people's accounts told to Rick (and the tiny snippits of "flashbacks")

Darabont seemed like he had a solid idea of where he wanted to go and it definitely sounds more interesting with what we've been given this season.

That interview with the actor was telling. You wonder why they're not off the farm yet? They don't have the budget. The show is forced to meander is spin tires because of budget cuts and a total change in direction.

farm makes sense though. So it's no big deal. Why wouldn't they want to stay at the farm? Shit was nice for a while.

I just re-watched the last episode....what was with the flashes of zombies when Shane died? I thought that was an odd editing decision.....

It was the large group of zombies roaming the woods. They showed them noticing the sound of Carl's gun. Iirc.

No... I think that was attempting to show him "turning".

It was a little hokey, but at least the walkers looked pretty good...
