yeah I thought it was to indicate that he was transforming, so there was no confusion about anything. They just put a visual on the transformation.

It was a weird way to portray it though. I mean if you think about it, doesn't make sense to show it that way if intended to depict his perspective.

Flashes of random zombies? Other random zombies? Eh... why?

Would have been cooler to have a tight shot on his eyes as they turn in real time... and if they wanted to show it from his perspective... then why not literally from his perspective, in shots through his eye level on the ground... maybe looking up at Rick, through clever visual effect/filter that evokes a primal feeling.

I don't really know what you'd do. I just know what they did was a bit corny.

Here's an idea: if you know Shane's body may turn into a zombie, why not maneuver yourself so you can see the corpse and your son? Is Rick locked into a 2D plane?

If Rick knows about the zombification process, his behavior doesn't make sense. In fact, there would be no reason at all not to put a bullet through The Corpse Formerly Known as Shane's skull before he can rise again. Except for the script declaring that things must play out like it did. (And aside from all that, you have the problem of Carl not saying, "Look out!" just to add more Drama to the scene. There's no excuse for that except bad writing, just like with Dale's death scene.)

I think it makes a lot more sense if he doesn't know Shane will turn. But we'll find out for sure in the next episode.

That interview with the actor was telling. You wonder why they're not off the farm yet? They don't have the budget. The show is forced to meander is spin tires because of budget cuts and a total change in direction.

But they spend a long time in one place in the comicbook too. It's basically the only reason they were able to adapt it.

AMC has treated the overall situation pretty shitty. Dominating success is usually rewarded with increases in budget to continue pumping things up.

Witwer has it right though. They basically used Darabont to get an exceptional crew etc into contracts on the cheap end of the spectrum and are now using that to their advantage.

I know it's a dead horse that's been zombified and killed again, but I still can't wrap my head around AMC's decision. How could you possibly be a high-level exec and not realize that if you shit up a product, it's going to make less money? It'll still make loads, sure, but they could be making even more if they just spent some money! How can they have never heard of "gotta spend money to make money?" It's just completely mind-melting.

I got all excited when they showed Atlanta being firebombed. Like you I'd like to see more of the initial outbreak and how society just crumbles. I guess they used up their budget on that one scene.

About this prequel nonsense and Sam Witwer:

It sounds like a completely derailed, deranged and off point to base an entire episode off of. We don't care about this soldier, we don't care about where the grenade came from, it seems like filler and fluff, completely devoid of the characters we love to hate and hate to love. That's how you want to start the second season? I'm all for filling in some blanks, but that's some Lost level of stretching air time and creating needless story parts.

For the most part, I enjoyed the first half of season 2, but good lord am I glad Darabont is gone. I like him, and there are parts of brilliance with his work on this show, I just really don't think he had a good feel for the source material overall. If he was given free reign in the end with no budget worries, that's what he wants to spend an hour of airtime on? Sucks for Witwer not getting in I guess as far as jobs go, but I'm really glad it didn't happen.

Actually it's a funny story, but that movie was in the public domain the second it was out in theaters due to a screwup on the studio or Romero's part.
