yeah I thought it was to indicate that he was transforming, so there was no confusion about anything. They just put a visual on the transformation.

It was a weird way to portray it though. I mean if you think about it, doesn't make sense to show it that way if intended to depict his perspective.

Flashes of random zombies? Other random zombies? Eh... why?

Would have been cooler to have a tight shot on his eyes as they turn in real time... and if they wanted to show it from his perspective... then why not literally from his perspective, in shots through his eye level on the ground... maybe looking up at Rick, through clever visual effect/filter that evokes a primal feeling.

I don't really know what you'd do. I just know what they did was a bit corny.

Even considering the plot convenient nature of the zombification time lapse?

Here's an idea: if you know Shane's body may turn into a zombie, why not maneuver yourself so you can see the corpse and your son? Is Rick locked into a 2D plane?

If Rick knows about the zombification process, his behavior doesn't make sense. In fact, there would be no reason at all not to put a bullet through The Corpse Formerly Known as Shane's skull before he can rise again. Except for the script declaring that things must play out like it did. (And aside from all that, you have the problem of Carl not saying, "Look out!" just to add more Drama to the scene. There's no excuse for that except bad writing, just like with Dale's death scene.)

I think it makes a lot more sense if he doesn't know Shane will turn. But we'll find out for sure in the next episode.

Your putting way to much thought into this. It played out like it did for drama and, I know you dont care about my opinion, but Im totally okay with that because it is a dramatic tv show it cant be super realistic all the time just because of that

35% budget cut for the top rating show on cable :-/

wut AMC.

Oh wow, Frank Darabont getting cut seems super sad now.

Seems like they are trying to make as much money off this show as possible while pumping up the advertising campaign as well.

Considering this show has no competitors in the Zombie genre for Television I'm not surprised.

Darabont seemed like he had a solid idea of where he wanted to go and it definitely sounds more interesting with what we've been given this season.

That interview with the actor was telling. You wonder why they're not off the farm yet? They don't have the budget. The show is forced to meander is spin tires because of budget cuts and a total change in direction.

But they spend a long time in one place in the comicbook too. It's basically the only reason they were able to adapt it.

Yeah, but time at the farm was way longer here than in the book. Maybe not by actual days, but pacing yeah.

MINOR SPOILERS
but they spend a way longer time in the next major location, true.
.

Glad to see that we're moving onto comic book Rick. I figured that Shane's death would be the catalyst to drive TV show Rick there.

What are the chances Lennie James is a friend of Frank Darabont and told them/will tell them to fuck off?

I am really excited that I get to work with one of the directors that I most admire on the planet

....I guess I might as well accept Lennie James isn't coming back.

AMC has treated the overall situation pretty shitty. Dominating success is usually rewarded with increases in budget to continue pumping things up.

Witwer has it right though. They basically used Darabont to get an exceptional crew etc into contracts on the cheap end of the spectrum and are now using that to their advantage.

He's a good actor, but what more could his character add to the story?

Rick doesn't even pretend to talk to him on the radio anymore.

I know it's a dead horse that's been zombified and killed again, but I still can't wrap my head around AMC's decision. How could you possibly be a high-level exec and not realize that if you shit up a product, it's going to make less money? It'll still make loads, sure, but they could be making even more if they just spent some money! How can they have never heard of "gotta spend money to make money?" It's just completely mind-melting.

And how is this going to make sense with casting
the governor
? Where the fuck are they going to get the money for a
prison
and a
small town
?

It's possible to create good drama without making your characters or the situations they're in retarded. I mean...I think you're forgetting that drama happens in real life too, not just movies and shows.

Wait..."terrdactycal?" WTF dude?

Hated the tease of Firebombing Atlanta, earlier in the season.

Hated it, because it looked cool, and I'd like to see what the initial public reaction was like, instead of just having people's accounts told to Rick (and the tiny snippits of "flashbacks")

I got all excited when they showed Atlanta being firebombed. Like you I'd like to see more of the initial outbreak and how society just crumbles. I guess they used up their budget on that one scene.

I just saw this:

Probably spoilerish so you know what to do

I watched the preview. Can't hardly wait.

After watching that Sam Witwer interview I have the urge to play Force Unleashed. Probably not a good idea though.

Just to further show Sam Witwer in the Pilot episode.

Finally got around to catching up, I don't read this thread too much, never read the comics so I'm wondering in regards to the most recent episodes...

How come the kid and Shane both turned without being bit or scratched... or was that implied and I missed it?

You didn't miss anything. If you read back a few pages you'll see the prevailing theory about why it happened. I won't post anything since people are a little touchy about speculating on this matter.

Don't worry, 2 more days and you'll find the right answer

Watched Ep12 last night. Definitely the best episode since the pilot. The setup for next is fucking totally badass. Looks like a total homage to Night of the Living Dead.

Body Count Prediction for the Finale.

- T-Dawg
- Hershel
- Beth
- Beth's Boyfriend

(Patricia and Maggie will make it to the
prison
)

On second thought, scratch that. T-Dawg is gonna step up next week and channel some Night of the Living Dead Remake Tony Todd shit. Everyone is gonna get wiped out except Maggie and T-Dawg. Maggie escapes to get help, while T-Dawg distracts the zombies and locks himself in the basement. Maggie returns the next day with Randall's group. They open the locked door to the basement and...

ZOMBIE FUCKING THEODORE DOUGLAS BITCHES!!!!!!!!!

I think Hershel, Otis' wife or girlfriend whatever she is and that one boy, whose name I can never remember that they rarely show, don't make it out. I hope T-Dog makes it out just because he's been such an underused character.

I don't think they'll kill Hershell. They won't kill of both old men in the show. It is probably just his entire family that will be murdered save for Maggie. So they would keep the two important named characters and drop the no-names.

About this prequel nonsense and Sam Witwer:

It sounds like a completely derailed, deranged and off point to base an entire episode off of. We don't care about this soldier, we don't care about where the grenade came from, it seems like filler and fluff, completely devoid of the characters we love to hate and hate to love. That's how you want to start the second season? I'm all for filling in some blanks, but that's some Lost level of stretching air time and creating needless story parts.

For the most part, I enjoyed the first half of season 2, but good lord am I glad Darabont is gone. I like him, and there are parts of brilliance with his work on this show, I just really don't think he had a good feel for the source material overall. If he was given free reign in the end with no budget worries, that's what he wants to spend an hour of airtime on? Sucks for Witwer not getting in I guess as far as jobs go, but I'm really glad it didn't happen.

That is all.

movie is old enough to be public domain...

Actually it's a funny story, but that movie was in the public domain the second it was out in theaters due to a screwup on the studio or Romero's part.

Edit:

Night of the Living Dead entered the public domain because the original theatrical distributor, the Walter Reade Organization, neglected to place a copyright indication on the prints. In 1968, United States copyright law required a proper notice for a work to maintain a copyright.[119] Image Ten displayed such a notice on the title frames of the film beneath the original title, Night of the Flesh Eaters. The distributor removed the statement when it changed the title

My girlfriend wanted to know how Norman Reedus smells? To be honest, I'm curious as well.

Just like in my dreams.

I love this fanbase.

Just like my dreams, too. ;__;

The catatonic chick who wanted to commit suicide is going to die so goddamn horribly in the ep... and Lori will be there to watch her suffer the agonizing death and Andrea will make one of those smug looks that makes me want to throw something at her head.

It wasn't going to be a full episode. It was going to be a cold open prequel thing.

Which is fuck awesome.

Apparently Lauren Cohan smells like lavender, camomile, and swedish fish. Yummy.

I'm almost certain Hershel and Carol will die. It really wouldn't make sense if they went on living, considering the purpose of each characters narrative.

I think Hershel will take Dale's place, and Maggie will take Shane's place. Not in terms of personality of course but in the sense of well they lost 2 and then they gain 2

Carol needs to go she is pointless like T-Dog but T-Dog will stay because no one cares about him.

Carol will need to be there to bring Daryl back after he betrays the group and joins back with Merle, when that guy eventually shows his mug again.
