It... hits the Normandy because it is integrated with AI... which... makes its engines explode somehow?
For me, as much as the ending I got seemed worse the more I thought about it the real killer was finding out all the endings were so similar. Especially for ppl like me who played all 3 games in such a way as to save every crew member, create every alliance, broker peace between all warring species, complete every side mission etc.

Sure. Chernobyl blew up because they turned off certain systems as the reactor was running. EDI transmutating could have been a spanner in the works.
Cortez even foreshadows the Normandy's special FTL core (or whatchamacallit) as being susceptible to blowing up when stressed.

There's actually an ethical conversation between Donnelly and Engineer Adams in the engine room you can overhear that has you side with one of them about if the Normandy is EDI or if Normandy is its own entity. One of the arguments of of them makes is that ship can operate fully without her and if she was removed from the ship the ship would still function.
There's some suspiciously familiar circular vents in some wreckage near the end of Jade Empire now that I think about it....

Doesn't make any sense. The Normandy functions fine without edi. THE AI WENT BONKERS SO THE HULL GOT FUCKED UP AND THE ENGINES EXPLODED.
No. When Edi goes down earlier in the game, the Normandy keeps flying without her.
Something like a journal entry template where each poster who is doing the playthrough lists the name of his/her character, and the journal entry number, and then you proceed to post in first person about the updates in your adventure so far.

I've never joined A Let's Play, but I think I understand.
Filled with screenshots (if possible) and "personal notes" those journals would be very nice to read. I'm a little excited about the prospects, even though it's quite a way away.
I'd be up for something like that. Not until I pay 15 bucks for the ending DLC in August though.

Didn't you know Mages are just Biotics and Darkspawn are the distant cousins of Krogan. All joking aside Bioware at some point stated the two series were in the same universe.

Damn it GAF, I just finished this game an hour or two ago thinking "Hey, that ending wasn't so bad" and now you've convinced me I hated it. Although to be fair, I thought the after credits ending wasn't particularly atrocious.

I spent 8 hours playing this today and now that I'm done I feel empty inside. After all these years just to have my choices rendered practically meaningless is just too cruel.

The ending as-is, the Catalyst says that the Reapers preserve each species. The Collectors were basically Protheans. They just didn't go all-in with Keighly's idea even though it was set-up in ME2.
ME1 I just played on easy for the story.
At the end of ME2 during the big reaper-fleet reveal, each Reaper looked different from one another.
Concept art backs up the idea even more.
In a sense. Dragon Age exists in their universe... in the same way it exists in ours: as a video game. Don't think Mass Effect exists in any sense in DA's universe, not unless they seriously decided to make it some crazy (by medieval fantasy standards) work of fiction or something inane.

Which is why Control/Synthesis is the only two choices for a paragon. Really selfish to destroy those earlier civilizations in whatever form they exist now.
SPECULATE: As a biologist "preserving a civilization" inside a shell makes me think of genetic diversity and the function of spores. What if you could take an entire species and preserve them inside a shell until the right conditions for their reinsertion in the ecosystem was available. Someone should give the reapers/catalyst the noble prize in medicine, a biologists dream come true.
They're dead anyways, fuck 'em.
Oh god, the IGN gif had me on the floor. I'm kind of curious to see what Bioware does in with Marauder Shields. I'm sure it will be an easter egg in future titles.
The gritty sci-fi story was all just grandpa's fairy-tail.
