I don't have cable or anything, but how much coverage is this getting?

Seems like bullshit to me that the cops are not getting more heat for this. Feel like doing my own Zimmerman 2012 shit.

Based on the screams on tape? Nope. at BEST, it seems more reasonable to assume that the kid only got on top of him at the very end of the fight/wrestling match, just before he was shot.

Or, that the kid was on top of him trying to hold Zimmerman down/back from him as he screamed for someone to help him get this crazy-ass stranger who rushed him out of nowhere away from him. Perhaps Zimmerman got a hand free enough to pull out his gun and end it.

Okay, I can get the convoluted theories in defence of Zimmerman, but they should be presented in a court of law. How is this person not arrested? Holy shit, Florida.

Which can be determined in a court of law. Fact is there is more than enough to produce probable cause and the fact that no arrest has happened means that there is gross ineptitude.
 
i'm australian so people carrying guns is pretty foreign to me.

however

how can you claim self defence if you initiated the altercation? i would have thought the self defence thing would have fallen over as soon as the dispatcher told Zimmerman to leave the guy alone.
 
How can Zimmerman even claim self defense, the man followed the kid and when the kid noticed him & ran, he fucking chased him. You can hear him in his 911 call...

That's a serious pursuit, as opposed to simply stalking someone which in itself is an aggressive stance, pursuing someone running away like that indicate the instigator or aggressor in the situation is Zimmerman. That should have nullified his self defense claim. Let alone the dispatchers telling him not to pursue.

He didn't simply approach, he pursued a fleeing minor with a weapon.

But Zimmerman said he feared for his life so that is the end of that. Go on about your day, it doesn't matter that a likely innocent minor was shot. Besides, Zimmerman is a really great guy!
 
these 911 being released absolutely make it impossible for zimmerman AND the police officers involved to get off. I have to believe that.

In 2010 Justin Collison, the son of a Sanford cop (and the grandson of a Florida Judge), brutally beat a black homeless man unconscious. The supervising officer refused to arrest Collison and it took several weeks, the media running with the story and the release of a videotape of the beating before charges were filed. The same tape the Sanford PD had from day one. Sounds familiar right? This whole incident was such a debacle that Police Chief Brian Tooley was ousted (and replaced by Bill Lee). But it turns out the supervising officer who initially declined to arrest Collison despite having clear evidence a crime had been committed is the same goddamn guy who was in charge the night of the Martin shooting. One Anthony Raimondo, who was investigated and cleared of any wrongdoing for the Collison incident. The same Anthony Raimondo was relieved of duty (with pay) for filing a false police report and after accusations of lying under oath in 2009, but again later cleared to return to service.


The Sanford PD is a fucking joke.


Edit: And the prosecutor who "concluded that there is no basis for any criminal charges to be filed against Sgt. Raimondo for perjury, misconduct or any other crime" and cleared him to return to the department two years ago? State Attorney Norman R. Wolfinger. The same Wolfinger the Sanford PD just handed the Martin case over to.

Those tapes are terribly disconcerting. The young man is desperately wailing for the shooter to spare his life. It's offensive to construe the shooter's actions as self-defense. He initiated the confrontation and subsequently killed the young man. His actions are indefensible. And although it may not alleviate the overwhelming sorrow the young man's family is surely experiencing, I hope they gain a modicum of closure when justice is served. Moreover, I hope the police chief and whoever else contributed to this perpetration of injustice are punished severely. Their gross and shameful misconduct has only exacerbated the family's suffering. And they've mocked their duty to uphold the rule of law.
 
Although not illegal, the racial profiling aspect will really put Zimmerman in a bad light when this goes to trial.

Also the part where he shot and killed the unarmed kid that weighed 100 lbs less than him.

Don't they need to charge Zimmerman first for this to happen? At the rate this "investigation" is moving he won't see the inside of a courtroom...ever.
 
The fact that he walks free still means the police have noone but themselves to blame if someone with the right combination of balls/crazy kills him.

Well so far the only people involved in the investigation were the Sanford police department, and I think they've just recently handed the results of their investigation off to the attorney general and whatever other agencies that are involved now, and hopefully they're a little less dumb

I hope it goes to trial and all of the facts are aired out in the open

Hey, those poor officers are clearly overwhelmed with their workload. That's why Zimmerman stepped in. He knew that justice needed to be served that night, and that the police were too busy (which is why they told him that he had to wait). Because of his heroics, minorities will know better than to walk carefully during dark and stormy nights.

Except Zimmerman's whereabouts are unknown and the Sanford PD refuse to disclose his location ostensibly for that very reason. They apparently take death threats more serious than an actual killing.

Ya and this new evidence doesn't really put Kharvey in his place. His whole stance was we don't know so no arrest but there was more than enough information on day one of this thread so his opinions and devil's advocacy was wrong then and is even more wrong now.
 
I think Zim has an idea how much his ass is out in the open now. It's crazy how easily someone could just walk up, take him out, and disappear. If he's smart, he's hiding out under police guard. Which makes this even better/worse. I hope this ends up all over their faces.

And now that we have more 'facts', I'm sure the defenders will be changing sides, etc, etc. I don't think this will stay swept under the rug. Bring in the federal court and DA.
