Awesome, thanks. Wife is taking me to the Lego Store here in Houston for my birthday so that's going to be my pick.

Halfway through the second book and the build is really fun. This is my first real dip into the "new" studless technic pther than little bits in SW sets and I am impressed.

Will also be looking at modding it for Power Functions once I'm done.

I wish, though it would fulfill a childhood dream, I remember when we had a lego dude come to out school selling dacta lego or something and I asked him what I had to do become a guy who builds the lego sets, he said "you need a degree in engineering" which shattered me

Heh. For years my wife has been telling me to go for an engineering degree with the way I talk about things and whatnot. Then these last few months with my Lego binge, she is urging me more and more.

I don't think a degree in engineering is actually required these days

Probably not, but my wife still talks about how I should go for one with how fascinated I am with engineering in general and how I seem to have a good natural understanding of it all. And a solid (and way out of practice) math background. When she is done with her chemistry PhD, it is my turn to go back to school for whatever I want. I just need to figure that out. My art degree is just wasting away for whatever little I do nowadays.

Buy Friends Lego; get weird looks from female toy store clerks.

(I think it'll be amusing to try to make a Red Light District vignette with a modded Friend minifigure and some red LEDs.)

So apparently my Town Hall is still on a Fed Ex truck out for delivery, even though they are shut down for the night. Why am I getting the sneaking suspicion that they actually lost the box?

Your fed Ex driver never went back to HQ, he's building it in the back of the truck.

I knew it!

But really, I would have expected it to show back up at the HUB already, but it still shows being out (on the wrong route. Bastards).

Well, if they did lose this one, at least Tower Bridge is coming Tuesday so I can have that if I have to wait for a Town Hall replacement.

Sarigar 45 part listing madness is nearing the end, but not without one or two last curveballs.

How are these big nozzles made?

I think it goes like this:
(2x) 1x2 modified plate sitting on 2x2 round plate (the one with an axle cross hole). Axle is sitting inside of that hole in the round plate, and then 56145 wheel goes onto that axle as well/ But there seems to be another, smaller wheel (which I can't identify) that goes after that one, and then the cone part, I think.

My guess would be:

3941.gif
3706.gif
56145.gif
2994.gif
4589b.jpg

That is, two jumper plates on top of the round brick, then the technic axle in the bottom of that. Then thread the big wheel on, then the small wheel, and top it off with the cone. That's what I'm seeing at first glance at least.
I think it's two stacked round plates and not a round brick (it looks like it on a highest resolution image at least). I couldn't identify that second wheel, but I think you're right, its the part # 2994. However, that means that the bigger wheel can't be 56145 as that one has the same diameter as 2994, and it would have to be bigger.

56145 is 4 studs wide, 2994 is about 3 studs.

That settles it then. Curiously, they are both listed as 30.4mm at bricklink.

The diameter is for the tire I think, 2994 is made for a tire with a bigger profile, whereas the other one is really slim

Edit:

Or rather it seems like the wheel is 30.4 on 56145, but the wheel+tire is 30.4 on 2994

Yeah, looking at the largest resolution it is two round plates stacked. Definitely right about the diameters - wasn't even paying attention to that. I'm pretty stumped now also. Looks like a single 1x1 brick is 8mm, and the larger wheel looks to be 4 studs across, so the 30.4mm wheel fits that size pretty well, so I'm back to where you are, unable to identify the second wheel.

Edit: Ok, that makes sense reading the above few posts. I was starting to wonder if it was something like that.

Maybe I'm late on this, but! I've had weird shit like this happen before. Sometimes, for some unknown reason, the tracking and the way things move around is wonky. It'll be there, eventually, haha.

Bah! I want my town hall! What else will I do on Sunday? :) they say they will deliver to my house now, but now I kind of wish I said deliver to fed ex store so I don't have to wake up early.

Yeah, it DOES suck. :/ The joy of waiting...haha

And FedEx's site is fucking useless. UPS may deliver late to my apartment, but at least their tracking is accurate. Just fucking pissed off about it all over again. If I could tell exactly where my package was I would be fine. But the fact that the website says one thing, and each time I called customer service I got a different story makes me so angry.

I will wait to see how the Tower Bridge delivery goes, but if this is what happens with every order off of Lego.com, I am not doing it again after I redeem VIP points. Just so annoyed with FedEx that I dont want anything delivered by them.

And the guy on the phone says they would deliver on Saturday, but I dont trust it. They usually dont do Sat. delivery unless you paid extra for it. If it does not show tomorrow I will be so angry.

OK, this should be the last Sarigar related question. Two questions actually.

Can someone identify the white dish used in this picture? It looks to be 8x8 size, and I've looked throughout the Dish parts section on brick link, and could't find the one that has sloped edge and two little holes along the edge like this has.

Second question is how is the core of the middle black part done. It looks like it has 1x2 brick with studs on every side of it, except the bottom - but such brick doesn't exist. My guess is, it's actually two 4733 parts, one perpendicularly attached to another, but the high res picture really makes it seem like it's one brick. I also can't see how is the protruding beam part attached to that core. I think that part is composed of 30374 (lightsaber blade) and 3062b (round brick) over it. But there's something attached to that round brick's stud that's holding the whole thing with the core.

The dish is actually in the container category I believe:

Well, I stayed up til 2AM last night putting the space shuttle together, what an awesome build! Much more detailed than I expected. Especially the fantastic landing gear, man was that slick as hell.

Some pics:

You, good sir, should come over and visit the MLP thread to work on that. Next time you may be leaving that store with a phone number of a cute store clerk!

*no guarantees included

Ok I need more space. I'm buying the Battle of Endor and Falcon next.
Also check out Walmart clearance. I got the Legos in the 2nd pic for under 40 bucks.

Love the shuttle. Just the attention to detail. Would have been so easy to not bother with landing gear, and have just the cargo bay empty. But no - you get retractable landing gear, the robot arm, and a complete satellite that fits in the cargo bay but can be removed and unfolded and displayed attached to the robot arm.

Only thing I'd like to have seen would be a stand to hold the orbiter horizontal 'in orbit'.

As a result of having to many sets "on display" or or rather occupying space on the floor/shelves/coffee table/TV stand in the living room my wife has gotten a little tired of so much Lego hanging around so now starts the big tear down.

This is what is currently on display somehow and after the weekend it will be just the M:Tron and SSD while the SuperCar and Metal Grudge will live on for fn and giggles but not on general display.

I was playing Star Trek Online yesterday and something occurred to me: Why hasn't there ever been any sort of official Lego Star Trek line? I guess that some of the models might be a bit structurally difficult, particularly with the large parts connected by narrow pieces (neck between primary and secondary hulls, pylons between secondary hull and nacelles) but I'm sure they'd figure something out. Was Roddenberry or CBS against it or something?

Mega Blocks. There were a few posts talking about this many pages ago. It is a shame we dont have some UCS Star Trek sets.

Bleh. Mega Bloks are ok, but they somehow don't seem to have the precision of Lego, or maybe that is just nostalgia talking. I just found info about the only set they released on Memory Alpha, and it said they only held the license for a short time and the only set they released was a somewhat shoddy looking Enterprise D. What are the chances that Lego would ever be willing to pick up a license that Mega lost?

While they still have an incredibly lucrative and recently extended star wars license? Don't hold your breath

Lego would be foolish not to pursue the Nintendo license that MB had.

Sorry, was only referring to star trek. The lego portfolio would be too saturated with scifi if they did star trek too. Lucas might even have terms in the license to prevent competing brands being licensed.

Plus as a TV series centred around a single ship, there aren't many iconic locations that could be used, unlike key set pieces in the SW movies. So IMO it'd just boil down to the enterprise (maybe original and TNG) and a couple of the more recognisable enemy ships (Klingon bird of prey, romulan warbird). AND they are challenging architecturally as mentioned - all spindly

So quite a few reasons I can see :). But that's where MOCing comes in I guess

My fed ex driver sucks. The only way I knew he delivered my set this morning is because I stopped by the leasing office on a whim. He never tried my apartment or left a door tag. Bastard

HEADS UP... Keep an eye on your walmart's guys. I just got the City Garbage Truck for 19.99$ on sale. (reg. is 24.99). I don't know if they are getting ready to put a bunch more stuff on clearance or what but I know it wasn't on sale here earlier in the week.

Heh, the way that dragon is split up to 3 ground pieces is kinda awesome :)

God, what have I done? Went to LEGO store this morning. I could have easily blown $500 there. I'll be back next month to get the Grand Emporium. I don't really collect anything so why not Lego's. I got a VIP card. Will I get points for my purchase today? Alright, time to start. Happy St. Patty's day all!

That set looks so awesome. But I am done for a while. Town Hall is in the car and I will start it tonight after work. And Tower Bridge will be in Tuesday. But of all the Potter sets, that one you got is the coolest.

Ya, must of the Potter sets look pretty lame. I wish they'd make a respectable Hogwarts. So whats the move here? I open all the bags and dump all the pieces into one big pile?
