NFL Off-Season Thread: "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"

I'll still watch the Broncos to see what they do with Peyton if he ends up there, but i would have liked to see a full Tebow year. Denver seemed to bank everything on getting Manning, i hoped they'd get some free agents to build their Tebow led team, now Manning has to deal with a mostly mediocre team.

My personal Broncos related happiest moments since the back to back Super Bowl wins:

Trading for Champ Bailey

Playoff win over New England

Meeting and taking a photo with Terrell Davis

Firing of Josh McDaniels

Playoff win over Steelers last season (as well as all the Tebow heroics during the reg season)

Peyton signing

There's been so few genuinely happy moments compared to all the sad moments (Elway retiring, Davis' shortened career, Mastermind's firing, player deaths, McDaniels' dismantling of the Broncos offense, etc.)

gtfo. Try living in Michigan and being a Lions fan your whole life where you when you were not old enough to appreciate Barry Sanders and really started paying attention to football when Joey Harrington was drafted. Then you will know what sadness is

Back to eznark's point about Harbaugh and Manning's decision:

Jay Glazer ‏ @JayGlazer

Peyton felt he needed to throw all his time into rehabbing & there simply isnt enough hours in the day to rehab AND learn whole new offense

In other words, he can run the offense he wants in Denver.

Jets, Broncos, Mets, Rays....darkside is a conviction-less squicken

Oh, i agree with that 100%. But their odds are astronomically better than with Tebow
Didn't know that.

Denver may have a tough schedule next year but you have to remember that all it took was 8-8 to win the division. Plus the teams "turnover" every year, good teams might not be as good year in and year out. Regression and all that.

Well, little relieved that it's finally over with, even if we didn't end up with Manning.

Nice to know our front office is dead serious about winning a championship too, I have every confidence in Baalke and Harbaugh.

Let's resign Smith and then find a new RG and we're set.

Only BaltimoreLarry knows true sadness. Everything else is just a lie!

EDIT:

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that the Broncos aren’t confident at all that they’re going to get much of value for Tebow, who two years ago was a first-round draft pick in Denver and two months ago was a winning quarterback in a playoff game.

Mortensen said that if the Broncos can’t trade Tebow, they would likely release him. Bottom line: Tebowmania in Denver is dead.

I've already accepted that Tebow is going to become a Dolphin. I know Ireland is capable of doing something that stupid so I won't even try to deny it. And you know what? Fuck it, why not! it's not like we're going to compete anyway! Might as well prove that Tebow can't play QB and finish Tebowmania off once and for all!

And hopefully we will suck enough to draft a good QB prospect so we don't have to sign retreads or trade for other team's garbage.

Alright, time for NFL-GAF to place their bets on where Tebow goes.

I've got Miami.

Edit: And then I see that Junie12 feels the same way.

Pretty sure Detroit won the AFC West

Credit to SF for going for it. Very covert with actions as well. I think a fan can't be upset when a team swings for the fences.

See thats the right attitude!

Either he sucks and you get a good pick or he's actually got mythical powers and leads the Dolphins to playoff wins and maybe even a SB.

It's win win either way. You guys should be embracing this.

Figures, thought it worked out well that our draft is the one day I'm not really busy most of the day at work but it's going at a snails pace anyway. Too bad Brown GAF didn't forward their picks.

What do you guys think the Browns will do? Trent Richardson? QB?

ALL WILDCAT ALL THE TIME!!!!!!

That's what I think too. But the idea of him going to Miami and the remote possibility that they get to the playoffs (:jnc) might be enough to pressure Jacksonville to make a run at him. They would never hear the end of it if he has success in Miami.

Also, Tebow playing in south florida could legitimately hurt their attendance figures. The Tebow nuts would travel to Miami just to look at a piece of toast with his likeness burned in it.

Peyton had a choice between going for a Super Bowl or going out ignominiously like Unitas and Namath. He chose going out ignominiously like Unitas and Namath.

P.S. Wes and hiryu, whatever you do, don't take Trent Richardson. Go crazy like a fox and go for a Blackmon/Weeden combo.

So, chatter in Denver is that Dallas Clark is going to be making a trip out there now?

edit: And Reggie Wayne?

Man, Elway really likes to rub it in to the Colts.

From the way Wes and hiryu have been talking they are going to draft Claiborne. Then wonder why no QB's want to come play for the Browns....

Regie Wayne re-signed with the Colts already.

I'm pretty old, I go back to the 55-10 Superbowl loss (the first superbowl I ever watched and knew what was on the line). Around that time, my mom had a boyfriend who tried to buy me off with gifts and what not... He was a nice guy, didn't need to do it, but I got a nice Broncos helmet (D) out of it.

*Forgot to mention Rod Smith's retirement as a sad moment.

Oops, reading something old.

And for some odd reason, I read that as Wayne signed with the Cubs, and thought "Oh Cubs, you guys suck."

"In the immortal words of Vince Lombardi (sort of), "What the hell's going on down there?!"

"In Miami, I mean.

"In the last 10 years this franchise has been the most luckless, clueless, hapless club. To wit:

"Head coaches (seven): Dave Wannstedt, Jim Bates, Nick Saban, Cam Cameron, Tony Sparano, Todd Bowles and now Joe Philbin.

"Starting quarterbacks, minimum four starts (13): Jay Fiedler, Ray Lucas, Brian Griese, A.J. Feeley, Gus Frerotte, Daunte Culpepper, Joey Harrington, Cleo Lemon(!), Trent Green, John Beck, Chad Pennington, Chad Henne and now, evidently, Matt Moore. Unless they sign Alex Smith this morning, and if so, Smith would be in line to be the 14th starting quarterback in the last 11 seasons.

"Offensive coordinators (seven): Norv Turner, Chris Foerster, Scott Linehan, Mike Mularkey, Dan Henning, Brian Daboll and now Mike Sherman.

"Defensive coordinators (six): Jim Bates, Richard Smith, Dom Capers, Paul Pasqualoni, Mike Nolan and now Kevin Coyle.

"The most bizarre moves, and aftermaths, of the last decade of Miami Dolphins football -- actually, decade plus 11 days, considering that the Dolphins traded for Ricky Williams 10 years and 11 days ago:

I feel old and depressed reading this. Fuck! This is too much for me ;_;

I'm not even mad that Peyton shunned the Titans. I think they should of spent their time looking elsewhere. Hopefully Locker will get his shot

Its safe as long as you follow these basic rules:

1. Post only in a couple of threads with Gaffers that you know well

2. Dont fucking post in Gaming

3. dont fucking post in Political, religious, or controversial threads unless you have a bare minimum input to share.

This is the guidelines Im trying to follow to keep myself from another banishment. It fucking sucked. Us Falcons fans gotta stick together!

you got banned for your embarrassing posts about racist political cartoons. You can only blame yourself.

The idea that Tebow will go to Miami, where Philbin wants to introduce a Packers-style offense is fucking laughable.

The idea that the coach and GM are really the people that run that franchise is laughable.
