Herschel is an allegory for Jesus.
That wasn't a particularly bad episode, but the characters are just awful. AWFUL!
Example:
Rick's wife tells him Shane is dangerous. Shane leads Rick out to kill him. Rick in self-defence kills Shane.
Rick's wife is now mad at him?
It would have been a little better if Rick told them that Shane came at him with a gun and was giong to kill him other than saying "He came after me!". These people need all the help they can get when it comes to understanding things.

Lori basically told Rick to kill Shane a few eps ago too.
Yeah she is so stupid and annoying, but that was just one example.
Another is Sophia's mom telling Daryl that he's just a henchman to Rick. Why would you even try to stir up mutiny when the man is trying to keep you alive?
Shane was the only sensible man. Too bad he was in love with a dumb character.
Yeah I already mentioned that. Was Lori this dumb in the comics too?

You almost got it...it's just too bad you don't like it.
If zombies showed up every episode they would quickly start to feel like an empty threat because the realities of casting a television show means you can't kill off characters every single week. So they'd have to be repelled without much damage most of the time.
At least now the zombie encounter to human injury/death ratio isn't incredibly low (though still somewhat low).
While Kirkman isn't the great writer of the 21st century - far fucking from it - I really don't see how you could argue that. The comic's black characters are not "hell naw / shit's just got REAL" stereotypes and the women aren't shrieking messes that actually, literally say "killing is men's work, women should just stay in the kitchen."
The show didn't mean to imply any ninja shit, the hood and dark figure was because they haven't cast the actress yet, or hadn't at the time. That's all that is.
I couldn't believe that. Carol is annoying as owt now. Though the part where the 2 zombies came after her and she got trapped against a shed or something was great. Two steps right - shit, not that way!! Two steps left -- not this way either!! PICK UP A STICK AND STAND STILL.

She was no one's favorite character, but she wasn't this bad. She never told another female character to get back in the kitchen and make the men a sammich and she actually cared about Carl, as opposed to just talking about caring about Carl.Kyoufu said:

I thought it was a great first impression. And until I see how their going to build the character into the show I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
But just a few episodes ago, can't remember which one she seemed remorseful and apologized to shane for putting him in the position he was in. Shane just took her opening up to him the wrong way. I don't think it was completely out of character.

Andrea needs to be killed off, but she's about 4th on my death watch list. Nowhere as near as bad as Carl, Carol or Rick's wife. That may change after a few episodes in season 3, I'm expecting they'll use Andrea's character to explore help explore Michonne and introduce her to the group.

So I'm catching up with the show. I can't believe they killed Dale off so early, but I suppose he was dead weight in the show and they never got into his and Andrea's relationship. Though what I really cannot stand is that they took away Carl's moment against Shane. Argh.
Then there's Lori...why is she so insufferable in the show? Like is this all intentional, that they want us to hate her for being such an idiot causing shit for no reason, constantly being the cause of drama. That car crash was so goddamn stupid. And her reaction to Rick killing Shane? Jesus Christ.

i already miss Shane dearly and he's only been gone one ep. He was a VITAL character, not some side character that stays back at camp and lets the others go out in the wild a la Carol. Shane was always in the thick of it. He was also a great actor and in my opinion stole every scene he was in. My eyes were glued whenever he was on screen, he just a great actor and his facial expressions were great and showed emotion and now he's gone.
hated Shane, easily one of the worst characters IMO

So I'm not sure if this considered a spoiler question or just a general question...Since the comic storyline is still continuing and doesn't seem like it will have a end point anytime soon, how long can this show continue without a resolution? Surely this show won't be around in 10 years.
Tanks are usually measured in gallons per mile...

as long as there is drama to take place, it can go on. I could see 7-9 seasons though. Shows with much more linear premises have lasted as long.

Very mild comic spoiler with no plot reveals:
Morgan takes a while to come back. It'll be season 4 or even 5.
While Shane was a bad person, he certainly wasn't a bad character/anti-hero/borderline anti-villain. But his death was necessary for Rick's (as in, the main character's) development.
And if it was like it happened in the comic, Shane wouldn't even made it pass season 1, anyway.
