That goes both ways. I doubt if Elway offered for Manning to wear it that he would turn it down. Also, Manning said he personally called Tripucka and said that he wouldn't wear it unless he really felt Tripucka wanted him too.

He was really mature about the situation and basically said that if Tebow is on the team, then it'll be his (Peyton's) job to help him where he can and work with him. Said he's met him previously and everything that people say about his personality and type of person Tebow is portrayed to be is true.

All I know about Tripucka is that he allowed (wanted) Peyton to wear his jersey. Let him decide if he is being disrespected or not. I seriously doubt that they would of forced him to un-retire his jersey if he didn't want to.
Also, the whole retiring of a jersey number is rather silly in the first place (imo).
