The Dark Knight Rises (Batman 3) - No Riddler

No third-act pacing shenanigans this time Nol-man.

Nah I'm sure you'll find something to complain about for the next 5 years like the 2 secs of a CGI helicopter that only you bring up.

Sculli in 2015 : "Yeah, Rises was ok, but I really wish Nolan fixed Bane blinking while pressing the detonator. It completely removed me from the movie."

The only problem I have with the Batman films so far is how it is hard to understand what they are saying sometimes. It makes it difficult to watch with people who aren't so into Batman.

"Catwoman could've been more like Neytiri".

I only bring it up when people are specifically talking about Nolan and CGI. I'm sure I can pay much more attention to demonizing Bane's blinking once they fix that awful football stadium scene from the trailer.

It's pretty damn ridiculous that you keep saying he's terrible at CGI, and shouldn't use it again and then bring up a 2 sec scene as proof of this.

And now you're using a scene that was obviously unfinished as more proof. Just seems weird.

I don't say he's terrible, I say he's obviously more adept at practical work and weaker when it comes to working with CGI. And again - I only bring up this opinion when people start talking about his use of CGI. You're acting as if I bring it up out of nowhere.

And I never said the scene wasn't unfinished. I know it's unfinished. Hence the 'fix' part of my comment.

Don't get so bent out of shape. Not everybody can be adept at everything. Sam Raimi is also better when it comes to practical effects as his understanding of how to approach CGI usually limits him from being able to control it as much as he would like.

This is me getting bent out of shape? No, this is me getting really annoyed at you using that helicopter scene for the last couple of years as if people around the world have been waiting for someone to finally point it out.

If I really want to seem bent out of shape, I'd react like how you do when people call Cameron a shitty writer.

But Cameron is a shitty writer. That is like saying he is a very competent director. It just is what it is.

I'd say that laughing isn't getting bent out of shape so much as getting really annoyed at something to do with an entirely different conversation point is. I point it out because it is one of the very few instances where Nolan opted for CG instead of his excellent practical work.

Not everybody can be Cameron - who I will now point out that you brought up, before I get blamed for it in a few posts.

You asked this question before, and I'm pretty damn sure he had a good reason to use CGI for the shot considering his history of avoiding CGI whenever possible. He didn't just wake up that morning and go "How can I haunt Scullibundo's dreams for the next 5 years? AH YES! I'll use CGI for this shot where I can easily use a practical effect! That'll show him!!"

I imagine it went down something similar to what you just described, yes. Either that or he just wasn't competent enough to crash a chopper into a SWAT truck practically. LIKE ITS SO HARD.

When I finally meet him, I'll make sure to put that question on my list.

#1 question is still "In a cat's eyes, do all things belong to cats?"

I'm really interested to find out what Nolan is doing next. I imagine it should be announced before the year's end. Maybe he'll start having lunch dates with Barbara Broccoli.

Alright, I'll respond for him if I must.

"LOL! Nolan would be the absolute worst choice as Bond director. None of his qualities (if he even has any) would translate to the prestigious Bond franchise where such names as Roger Spottiswoode and Lee Tamahori broke through. Nolan action is incomprehensible and boring. Now that Quantum of Solace intro chase scene, that's action you can set your watch to! I don't know what actually happened during it, but after my 45th viewing of QoS tonight, I'm sure I'll get some more hints!"

Solo is seeing this, and looking at the "Banned" under his name, screaming.

Edit: A visual approximation

Well the action thing is still a problem for the most part. Hope to see an improvement in TDKR. And for shame at those saying Craig should retire. He's the best Bond. Tom Hardy can go get fucked when it comes to who should play Bond.

The best option for a new blood director is still Joe Wright, imo. Motherfucker would kill it.

Nolan would nail the aesthetic and mood of a Bond film, however. All dem suits and vests and guns.

I don't think Tom Hardy would make a convincing Bond. Bale in the other hand.
No. When Craig retires - on his own time, please - Michael Fassbender is the only choice to replace him.

Oh, and Quantum of Solace is genuinely a good film. It just doesn't stand on its own.

TDKR's opening action sequence is already better than any action sequence in QoS.

Hi Solo.

I can agree with this. Though I can't remember much since I was distracted so much by the awful sound WB sent out on some prints. Nobody knew what anybody was saying. Completely ruined the prologue for me.

Hi Solo.

Agreed. The entire fucking industry seems to agree that Nolan would make a killer Bond film. Solo must have some metaphysical higher-level understanding of the franchise that transcends us mortals.

Either that, or this image I just found by searching "solo neogaf" into google still holds true:

Best part of a Nolan Bond film is that it would easily make more money than any other Bond film and be the face of the franchise for centuries to come.

HI SOLO

You guys seriously want Nolan working on a Bond film? I'd prefer if he just keeps coming with new stuff, with the exception of Batman, he can always come back to Batman. I think Casino Royale was good because it had the reboot power behind it but Quantum of whatever messed it up and now you will have to wait 20 years for another good reboot.

I rather him stay far away from the Bond films. Casino Royale was pretty good, great even, but QoS was not so good. I rather Nolan work on interesting projects that appeal to him. If that is a bond film, great, I will watch it. I just rather it be something a tad more interesting than the latest entry into a long running franchise. He proved he could reinvent a franchise and make it kick ass, doesnt need to do that again.

I'm dropping in to say that Fassbender as Bond would be more awesome than Bale as Bond.

I dunno, they kind of built up Alfred pretty poorly these past two movies, hoping they deliver the goods with this one, but I doubt it.

Alfred finally reveals that he was the one who paid Joe Chill to murder the Waynes. He caused the economic downturn. He gained access to the Wayne fortune and funded R'as. He smuggled in the blue flowers for Crane to experiment with and handed him the mask. He's the one who cut up Joker's face years before and twisted him into what he is. He rigged the barrels to blow when Harvey and Rachel were in the warehouses. He
torched Bane's village
to find that bandit. He killed Edward Nigma before the Riddler could be revealed cause it was an annoying concept as a Seven-esque serial killer.

And now... his end game is revealed. What will it be?

"Why do we fall, Bruce?"

On the basis that Nolan always writes his movies(except Insomnia, but we don't count that one!), he'll probably never work on a Bond movie, since Broccoli insists on hiring that couple of douchebags.

Maybe he's interested in reviving The Exec.

Maybe he'll direct Interstellar! I wonder if his brother even finished that screenplay.

"I'm gonna cut you, Batman... like a tangerine"

All he wanted to do was keep the keys to the Rolls.

Alfred was the one who poorly constructed those boards to the opening of the cave! He created Batman on purpose!
