Deacon Hold off on that pick @ #29

I ain't even scared. You had your chance, and it signed with Denver.

we have the best offense, defense and special teams in the division. not sure how we don't destroy the division again this year. you can battle it out with the seachickens for 2nd place and battle of the overpaid-one-hit-wonder qb's!

Oh FMT, I'm gonna love watching the 49ers come back to reality this year.
*inb4whyyouhatingbropost*

i feel bad for you. you think just because the bucs had their greatest season in a decade (one in which they still missed the playoffs) and then the next season went to shit that the samething will happen to the niners.

what you don't understand is that the niners have a top notch coaching staff and we actually build our team through the draft. the bucs try to lowball their own team so they have more money for manchester united and then this year they're trying to plug a bunch of pieces in from all over to get them some W's but it won't work! you're going to have to live through years and years of niners success and relevance! just accept it now so it doesn't hurt so bad later!

Detroit* (10-6) - Doorman, goldlion054, Plinko, beast786, Agent Icebeezy, PhoenixDark - OT - Jonathan Martin - Let's be realistic--this guy is gone WELL before this slot in the real draft. But, for now, we take the steal of the draft. A 6-6, 305-pound talent who shows great skill at both run and pass blocking. He did a great job protecting the blind side of the #1 pick in this year's draft, Andrew Luck, throughout his college career. The Lions would probably choose to groom him on the right side of the line after re-signing Jeff Backus and will let him take over the LT position next year. Some scouts believe Martin is even more talented and has more upside than both Matt Kalil and Riley Reiff, the other big names at the offensive tackle position in this draft. Overall, a solid lineman who should be an anchor for an NFL offensive line for years to come.

YES YOU LISTENED TO ME :D

Haven't posted since Manning went to Denver so here it goes:

My favorite all-time player (Manning) is play my favorite (and home town) team twice a year. It's not cool. However, Denver is a good fit for Manning. I hope he gets another ring or two and shuts up the haters.

Alas, my poor Raiders. :(

The thing that concerns me is Elway says there is no Plan B. So in essence, Denver is now Indianapolis: Manning gets hurt somehow, and they're drafting #1 overall next year. On the other hand, they put the right pieces around him and they destroy almost everyone.

Should be interesting to watch, at least.

In theory, isn't this the case for New England, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, New Orleans and NYG too? Every QB is one bad hit away from missing the season, and thus every team with an elite QB is one bad hit away from going to shit.

it's already been proven that the pats can win without tom brady and that he is a system qb, nothing more

You sure destroyed us with that 1-1 split! Our defense is no slouch and against your offense? ohoho I'll take Skelton over Smith, at least he has potential to be a good QB one day. P2 will return TD's down the leagues throat again if they have the courage to kick it to him. You're not the only one with ST talent.

Last season stats:

Skelton - 151/275, 1,913 yards, 7.0 YPA, 11 TD, 14 INT, 68.1 QB rating
Alex - 273/445, 3,144 yards, 7.1 YPA, 17 TD, 5 int, 90.7 QB rating

i'm sorry where is the comparison here? alex has more yards, better completion %, more TD's and a better QB rating. i'm sure you'll tell me though!

and lets not forget, skelton is playing with one of the top 2 receivers in the game. i didn't watch every cards game but i would be willing to bet a decent amount of skeltons td's came on "chuck it up to larry and hope for the best!" throws.

and it's probably not good when the best thing you can say about a CB who was a top 5 draft pick is that he is good at returning punts. i'm going to call "P2" "Tedd Ginn 2" from now on because that's basically what he is: drafted at one of the most important positions on the team with a high pick but is nothing more than a glorified returner.

and i think everyone in the division has special teams talent. Tedd Ginn 2 in arizona, washington in seattle, uh.... whoever the rams have? but my point is that the 49ers have the best punter, the best kicker and the best coverage units. and now with my boy Parrish "Big" Cox (recently acquitted of rape!) returning punts we'll be tops in ALL phases of special teams.

We need some wide receivers bad.

We need some wide receivers bad.

lets take a look:

crabcakes - showed promise and will be more well versed in the offense this year. plus for the first time in his career he will have training camp and play in the pre-season (tebow willing!)

randy moss - even if he only duplicates his worst season ever, he is going to be an improvement over what we got from our #2 receiver. should be a good redzone target

mario manningham - superbowl hero. he knows how to get open. he's not the big target we need but he is very shifty and can keep teams honest.

rookie wr we will draft - best WR in the draft! he was definitely a steal for us and will be able to learn from dandy randy and crabtree!

kyle williams - unfortunately he was traded to the white sox this morning for a can of 4 Locos :(

we gots this!

I hope so. Crabcakes needs to step it up. Don't need another JJ Stokes.

Yeah. He has no more excuses this season. If his special team doesn't fuck up again in a huge way they can do it. Just hope no other team some how gets good in that division.

i'm sorry but what excuses does he need NOW? he went 13-3 with a 90 QB rating and got to the NFC championship game.

you can talk about alex's "weapons" (and he has some) but you show me a team with a worse 4 wr's in the league than these:

1. crabtree
2. teddy ginn
3. kyle williams
4. brett swain

like harbs always says, no quarter asked and no quarter given!

Only you could feel slighted at everybody saying your team is legit this year. :p

what would be best for crabby is if he could play in the slot. i just don't like him on the outside. he is shifty but he's not fast and i feel like his stride is deceptive and that's why alex over throws him deep. he showed at TTech that he can work the middle of the field and that if where he has seen his most success. maybe we can get manningham and moss on the outside with crabbles in the slot but i guess we'll just have to see. i wish he was more motivated because i have a feeling that is where most of his problems start and end: motivation

I said I'd rather have him because he has potential, fool! Skelton's weakness is his accuracy and that's something he can improve over time. I've already listed all his strengths and intangibles on here plenty of times before. I have no doubt that he'll easily surpass little hands, all he needs is time. Especially since he has to wait out the Kolb experiment. But since you're comparing, Skelton played half the games Smith did this season and it's clear had he played the whole season, he'd easily have surpassed Smith in every category but Accuracy ratings and interceptions, both a byproduct of his aforementioned weakness. Once he improves there, bend over little hands. He's made plenty of plays without Larry due to Larry being swarmed. That's why I want a #2 WR so badly. I expect more production from our TE core this year to help with that.

Right, much should be expected from a CB in his rookie year. CB has to be up there for one of the most difficult positions to learn to play at the pro level after QB. It's ridiculous to expect grand results that soon at that position. That he was such a huge asset on ST and that hey visibly improved throughout the season as a CB is a testament to his talent and what kind of player he'll be. I have no doubts that he'll be a complete stud on defense. His talent at returns is just icing on the cake. Parish can't even carry his jock strap on returns.

I'll give you kicker though, he should be the best in the league with all the FG's the Niners have to settle for each game!

skelton has no potential. he stares down receivers and makes poor decisions with the ball. he might improve but he'll never amount to much. i can guarantee he will never win a playoff game and if he does you can choose my avatar for the following year after he wins it. it won't happen.

i know CB is a tough position to learn but i don't think peterson will work out at cb. i would expect him to transition to safety eventually.

and i bet the cards would kill for a few more FG's in some of their close losses ;)

He didn't do so well during the championship game. They should have had won that game if not for Ginn being out but Alex isn't doing the returns. He relied on Davis the whole time he is a sure thing but the receivers could have done it. Now that he has a better core he will have a better chance. I would like to see them do good. If Moss is close to being old Moss they will be a awesome team.

Took Alex to finally hit a grove after 7 seasons in the league and being a starter.

alex smith posted the highest rating of the post season against the giants D. that's right! better than:

erron rodgers
cowardly ryan
tom brady

p.s. time had nothing to do with alex succeeding. he could've been successful in year 2 if he had a coaching staff like we do now

He hasn't even played an entire season and you act like he has no hope of fixing those things. He has great size to help shed tackles ala Big Ben, strong arm, smart, steps into the the pocket with confidence even with a shitty OL, and doesn't cave under pressure. So many games went into Skelton time in the 4th quarter where he just completely took the game over and made us come back for a win. Time and time again. If he can get into that mode for the first couple quarters, he'll be deadly. I think his ability to keep his head in the game and carry the team on his shoulders displays that he certainly CAN win a playoff game. Does it even mean anything anymore now that Tebow has done it? I won't go too far into talking about playoff wins with him while Kolb is on the team but if Kolb fails and Skelly takes the reins, he will have his day!

You sound like you just read a few shitty assessments on the internet concerning P2. That's nonsense. Did you see how fast he is? He's got the speed and athleticism to stay on any WR and the pride, ethic, and desire to get good enough to cover anyone in the league. He gets excited to go against the best each team has to offer and he gets to go against Fitz every practice, I like his chances at becoming a stud at CB.

I bet the Niners wished they knew what to do in the redzone when they fell to NY ;)

How can a 49ers fan say a QB has no potential while they are comparing a QB to Alex Smith? Compare he and Skelton's careers 11 starts in and Skelton is already well ahead of him.

In short, Alex Smith sucks.

i'm not worried about TeddGinn2 and redzone wasn't our problem in the giants game, kyle williams was!
