I seem to be having issues with where Dota is outputting sound. For some reason it chooses to output sound to my headset despite my speakers being my default sound device. Everything else plays through the speakers unless I turn them off (which is the way I intentionally set it up). But for some reason Dota refuses to play through anything but my headphones, even when I remove them. Has anyone dealt with this/ know how to resolve this?

I figure this may be a technical issue outside of Dota but I thought I would ask here first since like I said this issue only occurs with Dota 2.

Maybe it for some random reason has to do with Commendations, or playing in a party? I have 13 Commendations.

Could also be related to actually starting up the test client.

My email saying I got in the beta is from November 2nd.

It could also be related to posting on the Dev Forums, your steam account is checked upon signup that you own the game, and I do have 239 posts on it.

I've had the game before invites were even coming out, and this is my second pair of extra tickets for friends. My friend who got in almost 2 months later got a set of invites yesterday too.


Seems pretty random from what I can tell.

God, I forgot how ludicrously bad low-skill games are. Watching my friend playing Dota 2 for the first time and his team is cursedly awuful. Skeleton King lvl7 w/o Ult, Doom Bringer rushing Aghanim, Crixalis has some weird stuff like 3 Gauntlets, Belt and Blades of Attack. Oh, there also ES w Perseverance; I'm vastly intrigued to see what he's trying to build from it. Also there's no courier on both teams. 28 minute.
edit: oh, Perseverance is for refresher.

BM is mostly unchanged, except she's now emergent OP because of her pushing power. Gets countered easily though.

Well with Brood you force them to always have someone in the lane or they'll lose their towers quickly. I don't like playing her in oubs as you really need the solo lane, and you need your team to push another tower and give you more space.

Usually away from the lane that is next to your jungle. So for Radiant side, you want top. For Dire you want bottom. He can also work as mid.

You can run Veno in any lane, he's a top tier support at the moment. I wouldn't play him like that in a pub though, you'd probably be better to go more of a semi-carry build.

I though it was an intended buff because the WC3 engine couldnt handle which spells to be blocked and not.

You can run Veno in any lane, he's a top tier support at the moment. I wouldn't play him like that in a pub though, you'd probably be better to go more of a semi-carry build.

Veno does work in every lane, but no way in hell is the carry going to have an easy time since I love aggressive pushing (as I'm sure others do too). You usually see the carry along his jungle since he doesn't want to get ganked easily. It's better to let the carry farm in peace.

Finally got a Dota 2 invite, now I just need to find time to play it.

just played a game against 4 invisi guys.

Weaver + BH + Riki + Clinkz.


Almost carried the team to victory with early, constant gems. In the end, we couldn't win because it was basically 4v5. Our hard carry, DK, went 1/18/6. Our Zeus admitted to being brand new as well. And all DK built the entire game was Phase Boots, Vanguard and Quelling Blade. In 66 minutes! lol. 66 minute match ends with us clearing out their entire mid (ancient exposed), but never finishing the base. they focused me eventually and with my buy-back timed out, it was over.

I think I bought 5 gems over the course of that game.

went 17/7/19 as Drow, but was the only teammate over .500. the rest refused to communicate, sentry ward, dust or buy gems of their own. worst part is knowing we had them beat...attacking their ancient...but the team partially decided to troll around their fountain rather than finish. we never made it to the ancient again.

. one thing I do wish I had done was sell my shadowblade to build a monkey king or buy a hyperstone. but with so little help, I don't know if it would have been enough anyway.

Whichever key you bound your hero to, you can double click it and hold it to follow. But if you mean like leagues, where you can lock it completely, no.

I just found out that Lycan and Shadow Demon are voiced by Nolan North. Pretty cool. Here is the full list of the voice actors with the respective heroes.
