Obviously not. She's only allowed to use water, though I imagine that if she wanted to cheat it would be possible to do so inconspicuously.

Well, Id imagine it would be allowed, but there really is no other airbender besides Tenzin (and the kids), and its not like they would be participating in a pro-bending match

Actually, I think the creator in that pro-bending rules vid mentioned air bending, so I think it would be legal if someone could actually use it.

i don't think so since the referees are above the stage and looking down at the players.

How would it work without breaking the game though as they could blow off everyone from the field pretty easily, or easily defect on of those earth disks. i think a lot of limitations would have to be placed.

Think about how Aang used it against Toph when they first met. I mean for dodging and stuff, things that wouldn't be easily noticed just by looking.

I watched that video and don't remember that at all. In the show itself they said the Avatar is only allowed to bend water. It really couldn't be clearer. There was nothing ambiguous there. It's a professional match, they're not going to allow someone to have a huge unfair advantage just 'cause.

That was only because she filled in for the water bender though. If she filled in for Bolin she would be allowed to only bend earth and so on.

But yeah, unless both teams have an airbender, there's no way airbending would be allowed.

I meant as a replacement for a water bender although I can see it being pretty overpowered in the context of the sport. We still don't know (I think) if a team has to be made up of one fire, one earth and one waterbender. Can you have three earth benders if you feel like it?

i was thinking cheating in the sense of using other elements in the match. And that airbending dodging could be seen as cheating but it would more likely fly due to just being dodging.

Actually she is only allowed to use water since the team already had a firebender and earthbender.

I don't think so since the game has been designed around those 3 elements

I doubt it, since the arena is made specifically for use with all three bendings at once.
Kind of like you have positions in many sports, you need specific types in Pro Bending.

Are we allowed to post images from episodes 1 and 2?

Man, is that just a really low quality capture of the original show or did it really look that bad?

Sure, it's not like anyone is waiting until the 14th to watch the show.

This show looks better in a lot of ways but something about it feels off. Sometimes I feel like the characters are moving in a still world or that some of the stuff is computer generated, not hand drawn.

edit: double post, I can't do anything right.

The first two episodes have been beautiful. The music is fantastic, the animation is superb, and the storytelling is well-paced. I am very excited to see where this show takes viewers. It feels slightly more anime-influenced than the original series, and I believe it feels slightly more mature. Perhaps that was a conscious choice on the part of the creators, who want this universe to grow with its audience.

The Avatar can bend whatever she wants, depending on the role she is playing. Had she filled in for Earth, she would have had to bend Earth.

Airbending isn't allowed because there's so few airbenders. I imagine years down the line, Airbending would be added into the game.

And then Pro-Bending has to get completely remade when people realise how broken Air is.

What part of my post do you think contradicts that?

it just how the sentence could be interpreted since it sounds she can only use water since shes the Avatar, when its actually because she's filling for the waterbender on the team.

it just semantics man, no big.

Then they will have to retool the entire game as well

I re-watched the second episode, and i disagree with Tenzin that Aang had most difficulty learning earth bending even though that took Aang the longest periode of time to learn it. I would say fire bending was the most difficult for Aang to learn it after he burned Katara, and Aang was really shaken up about it for a long time. So psychologically speaking Aang´s most difficult bending was fire. That mirrors Katara´s lack of spirituality and therefor learning air bending.

Yeah but like you said his difficulty with fire was because me burned Katara and developed a mental blockade afterwards. He didn't seem to have a problem before that and managed to create fire easily, he just couldn't control it.

So while it might have been difficult for him to learn fire bending in the end, it was for different reasons than Korra not being able to airbend. That is connected to their characters, which is why earthbending was especially hard for Aang.

Every single thing about this show was outstanding.

The two boys are fantastic characters, and the Pro-Bending match was fantastic. The sound effects in particular were amazing and very movie-like, a huge improvement over those of the original show (which were literally made by the creators doing sound effects on a microphone).

Aang has Toph and Iroh... Aang wins FLAWLESS VICTORY!

We only have the first three members of the team right now, so we can only compare Aang/Katara/Sokka vs. Korra/Mako/Bolin.

When later members join in, then we can add Toph.

Yeah he could do fire easily, but when he started earth he couldnt do anything.

Whatever, they could have done it either way. The dialogue just flows better if they said it this way.

huh? Like Appa - those are god-like sound effects. The Appa/Momo voice actor is one of the best.

My only complaint is that I am not a fan of these new sidekicks for Korra - they seem pretty wooden for the time being. The kids had way more personality (though, to be fair, the kids were by far the best part of episode 2.) Everything else was top notch. It's great to have avatar back!

Mako is Zuko without the overblown angst and Bolin is a lighthearted ladies' man, like a more mature Sokka. I don't think they're wooden at all.

No one compares to Toph yet of course, but it's only been two episodes.

This show has very beautiful animation. I'm definitely enjoying this a lot. Korra is a pretty great character.
