Guild Wars 2 Press Beta [Prepurchase Is Live]

I imagine your buffs are wiped when you enter a PVP match? I don't really think that they would allow such buffs to remain when they are going to such lentgh to provide a level field in pvp...

well the buff goes when you die, i didnt try going in pvp with it but it doesnt mention nothing when u highlight over the item about not usable in pvp like other items.

it also says in brackets ten percent so im guessing there is higher ones

This is about the time when I stopped caring about impressions from other players:

He's basically saying that in GW2 you mindless click on 1 and occasionally 2-5.
WoW doesn't really have this, you do have to pay attention with procs/interrupts sometimes. But then again, it's not like you need SKILZZZ to play WoW ...

Yeah I don't see how that is confusing. WoW has resources, procs and self combos to watch for. Leveling mobs in GW2 are pretty simple and weak (like every MMO) so the secondary effects of most spells are wasted thus its just 1: damage, 2: damage etc.

But in WoW all I ever did as a Shaman, Druid, Priest, and Paladin outside of rotation was interrupt spellcaster mobs and make sure my totems/buffs were up. I'm not puzzled. I'm merely stating the fact that whatever this person is playing must be a little confused because I never had to worry about resources or procs to manage in other MMOs.

PVE is PVE. It's mindless fun. Was the player expecting the urine of the gods or something?

Feral Druids, Balance Druids (star power -w/e), Rogues, DKs, Warriors, Arcane Mages have to manage resources. Apparently healers had to manage mana too (I don't play one).

Paladins had exorcism proc, no holy power consumed proc. They also had shield cooldown reset proc in Prot. Procs are pretty prevalent. I'm sorry you had to play a Shaman. EDIT: even shamans have procs - (Lava Burst CD reset) and probably more in enh

Anyway, it sounds like you're just creating a strawman of what he is saying. He's not asking that PvE to be the greatest thing - just that its less involving than other MMOs because it lacks procs and resources.

If he is talking about questing, i don't know what he is talking about but when i played WoW and was questing, was the most mindless thing that i did. Just put music, and (as Warlock) press 2,3,4,5 and 1 and be done (And killing more mobs is the same thing only that applying dots and maybe a Aoe), didn't have to check procs or interrupt anything because the mobs are so easy while questing. Its just smashing your buttons. Same thing with Hunter(Resource management with this one tho), Warrior, Mage and Balance druid (and this one).

In Dungeons and Raids its a different story tho.

Wow, you guys are either blindly bashing, or blindly defending. The whole quote is:
In WoW, or SW:TOR, or Rift, questing is really easy, just like it is in GW2, the difference is that in those other games there are resources to manage, procs to be on the lookout for, spells to be on the lookout to interrupt, etc. Sure, you can absolutely ignore all these things in those other games and still steamroll the content, but at least it's there; it's something to focus on--something to optimize and become better at.
Yes, he acknowledges that questing is easy, that you dont HAVE to use the procs. But they're there and you can use them to be more efficient.

Personally, I found leveling much more fun because of procs since they often = BIG NUMBARS

Because you're trying to refute his point by pointing out something he has already considered.

It's kinda funny because the quote comes from one of the things you linked

Welp, then better we don't comment or discuss in anything other people says ;)

From the TB dungeon video... They weren't steamrolling the content. They were actually having a difficult time and took 4 hours to do 1 dungeon run - with 2 devs! In a Yogscast video (with devs also) they couldn't finish the lovers dungeon (not in difficult mode).

How can questing be easy with this video evidence? You can't outlevel the content, your level will be scaled down. Bosses will have unique conditions... EG: keep the lovers seperated via knockdown to reduce their power, use turrets to get better control of adds, etc.

Perhaps they are questing in lower level zones with non complex AI.

Found this in /vg/ that they said he found it @ GW2Guru (Take with grain of salt)

From guru,
If this is true cool, will need more screenshots to replace my outdated cash shop ones then ...

>Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know: Instant Repair Canister does not work in dungeons. >Atleast ArenaNet have SOME sense!

>I hope this applies to Ressurection Orb too.

>The 12 slot bag is no longer in either.
>Unlock Bag slot is though.
>MegaPhone and Loot Bag aren't in either, Mystic Keys are though.

>There have been minor tooltip changes, the most significant being the Instant repair canister saying it does not work in dungeons

If we all know it's just cause I'm a tad slow today, had to make some balla ass bread pudding

If someone who has access to the beta can confirm it would be cool.

And why not:

That one was a good read. This is almost exactly my expectations for the game. Great PvP, WvW with a ton of potential, and PvE that's good. I'm sure the PvE will be great for many people, it's just lower on my priority list.

I'm most curious if his comment about button mashing being 90% as effective as "perfect setups" is true or not. On paper it would seem not to be the case, but we will see.

founds this over at Guru:

If guild influence is usable this will make a nice gold sink.

I can see them making influence used as a currency for temporary buffs for all guildies (24 hours/7 days).

Absolutely. It'll be key to research those upgrades asap to start reaping the rewards. This will most definitely help.

The 12 slot bag is no longer in either.

this is all true

this is all true

For those that didn't believe this, but this is proof that this is a REAL beta.

Marketing betas would never make a change like this. They will direct you to a beta forum where your suggestions and bug reports would never be read by developers.

edit: Those Mystic chests reminds me of Gift of the Traveler (for those who played Guild Wars 1). Even some of the items from Mystic Chest match - ale, mysterious tonics. In GW1, you can obtain 5 Gifts per account per week for doing fetch quests. The fetch quests were different because the Traveler would be in a random place in the world. People had to find him first - than fetch the item he wants. I would not be surprised to see something like that given for Mystic Keys. So you have other options instead of just cash shop.

So apparently the word on the street is that the megaphone item is gone.

And I am happy.

I am extremely happy about this. Hopefully they hear the complaints on the mystic keys as well and make them obtainable in game if they aren't already.

Also some of the comments to that reddit post are comical. Performance is seriously an issue? ANet has said since the first beta that the game was not fully optimized yet. They actually think this is a cause for concern once the game is released? Some people really were expecting this to be like all other betas lately, a glorified marketing campaign.

does anyone know if this is gonna be direct x 10 down the line cos at the moment its direct x 9. didnt they say originally it would be direct x 10 ?

But then again, it's not like you need SKILZZZ to play WoW ...

Now that all DPS classes work on a priority system you can't put your rotation on a single button and spam it like some classes in BC/LK. To put out top of the line output and get through some of the HM stuff you do actually need to l2p and pay attention.

I imagine your buffs are wiped when you enter a PVP match?

They might just suspend them for the duration you're in PVP, then re-activate them when you step back out.

Plus, you can jump in and out of PVP at will, rather than waiting for a Battleground or something to queue, so there's no surprise when you'll be entering PVP. If you just used a buff item and know you'll lose it in PVP, don't enter PVP.

He's not asking that PvE to be the greatest thing - just that its less involving than other MMOs because it lacks procs and resources.

Where GW2 lacks resources and procs, there are other things to take their place. Dodging (which has a resource), cross-profession combos, weapon swapping, environmental weapons, profession mechanics (Attunements, toolbelts, virtues, etc.). Lots of traits (which aren't complete, mind you) also grant proc-like effects. We also don't know what's waiting later in the game; all we've seen is sub-30 content, which isn't even halfway to max level. Imagine if you played Vanilla WoW and decided you'd seen everything at level 30?

Found this in /vg/ that they said he found it @ GW2Guru (Take with grain of salt):

Well, there goes one of my complaints about the Cash shop if this is true, now we just need more info on the Mystic keys (which hopefully will be coming tomorrow)

I would imagine they would implement Direct X10, but if not it's something they can always implement later. They added DX9 into GW1 with the Nightfall expansion.

They need to have one the first weekend in April. And invite me.

It'd make a nice birthday present.

I'm not on the weekend, but I've got a birthday that week too. Spring birthdays rock, they help fill in that huge gap between Christmas and the summer holidays.

I just want a freakin release date so I know if I resub The Old Republic and if I play Tera for a few months before GW2...c'mon,spill the beans already lol...

This is completely theory at this point, so don't take it as gospel, but the only 'clue' we have is that pre-purchasing the game gets you into a three-day head start, implying that the launch would fall after a long holiday weekend. The only one of those coming up is Memorial Day, May 28th. That would mean the headstart could begin on the 26th and the game could launch on Tuesday the 29th.

Again though, this is just my own personal theory. I wouldn't schedule vacation days or anything just yet. Probably best if you plan on playing SWTOR or Tera to the end of May until we hear differently. Hopefully we'll get a launch date when the Pre-purchasing event begins (in just 16 days, omg).

Tomorrow should increase our appetite for information/media once again.

fixed.

they aren't kidding about that watermark its all over the place...

according to that guy: pressing 11111 ability queues you. Making it even more of a disadvantage to spam keys.

what is that ability he keep using with houses above him?

edit: yay he is going to play a warrior, he says its a GOD mode spec lol

Is what's playing right now some OST stuff? Because I'm absolutely loving it.

Edit: Why you gotta fuck us, Roezz? Why you gotta fuck us?

poop to the neogaf man lol....

honestly does it matter if i did, why rat us out lol....hmmm i wonder who it is anyone know who roezz is on twitch.tv

I know it's just your theory and all, but what makes you think the three-day head start is significant?

Can't it just be three days for the sake of being three days?

I know it's just your theory and all, but what makes you think the three-day head start is significant?

It could totally just be three days for no reason, and the game could launch pretty much any time ANet wants to launch it. A headstart just happens to fit that particular weekend since a lot of people would have the day off, allowing them to enjoy the full three days. Plus, games usually launch on a Tuesday so it would fit that too. It's the only little hint we have.

But like I said, it's just my personal theory and it's pretty flimsy.
