Deserves to be quoted on a new page :P

I think this might be my first second mmo where I simply don't care about getting to the level cap as fast as possible, but instead spend time exploring and wandering in each new zone. Those environments just look so amazing.

This is probably the first MMO I've played where the only time I noticed what level I was, was to check if I was high enough to do my class quest.

News Yogscast featuring PIGS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mIXx1HyPXA

Actually, seems like you can, in this video posted by MrCravens,

the guy is using the Charrtillery (I adopted the Yoggscast name for it. :P) in WvW PVP. So there may be hope for my Charr rocket artillery squad!

glad I was wrong, with only a 3 min(?) cool down, it's incredible

The cities in this game are just incredible:

I am wondering something, anyone else remember a early screenshot of the city showing a part where the architecture looked very Canthan? What happened with that place? In no video so far of Divinity's Reach have I seen that place. :(

Edit: Found the image.

Isn't that the The Great Collapse now?

Honestly it's kind of an improvement for Cathan.

Pretty much confirms that a Canthan expansion will be first, if they already had a major city part done for it :P

Or at least, I'd like to think so. That part of town looked awesome, can't believe they just turned it into a sinkhole...what a waste.

If this was true being the first expansion this would be the greatest online rpg of all time... (for me, at least.) If they introduced a martial arts based class somehow into Guild Wars 2 I'd never leave the game LOL (Figuratively speaking.)

One other thing though, in reference to that screenshot, I really love the Asian architecture so I really hope the Canthan do eventually make an appearance in Guild Wars 2.

You definitely made my day with hopes of the Canthan coming into GW2... I've been shattered by my hopes a lot though (Ala lack of FF Versus XIII.)

The possibility of a DOTA style PvP gametype or map(from a file name supposedly data mined from the beta files) in GW2 has me very intrigued. Would also make sense with how much the devs have been talking about MOBA games.

In RIFT for example an area of the world will be taken over by invasion event and quest giver npcs would be dead and you couldn't do your turn ins or get new quests for a good chunk of time till it reset the area.

People have already answered this, but I thought I'd add that there wouldn't be any Quest Givers to die, as the Dynamic Event is the quest. Rift had traditional MMO questing with invasions laid over it, and the two continually came into conflict. In GW2, the 'invasions' so to speak are the entire game, but much more varied and involved than just "kill all the enemies until the rift closes".

I don't think you can use racial elite skills for PvP?

They definitely can't be used in Competitive PVP, but I think they're allowed in WvW.

It's definitely a hole now, but in the first GW book, they briefly describe the layout of Divinity's Reach and they explicitly mention parts of the town that refugees have made their home. I think they mention Canthans by name. So either they scaled back the size of the refugee area or... the Great Collapse happens sometime after the book in the game's timeline.

It seems pretty sensible to me that we'll see expansions for both Cantha and Elonia at some point. And because all of the professions can perform all of the roles needed to play, there's no limit on introducing new classes beyond coming up with a cool mechanic for them. We've also discussed a couple times in this thread about how introducing a few new weapons to compliment a new profession really gives them entirely new options too. If the introduce fist weapons, for example, that gives the other 8 professions something new too.

If they introduce a class that uses martial arts with that Canthan expansion or like... somewhere down the lines I will be one EXTREMELY happy person. (I know Guild Wars hasn't really done that but I'd love to see it.)

There are flythrough video's of all the races' cities on the Arenanet official youtube channel.

Asura city "Rata Sum"

Sylvari Zone

Edit: Nevermind, I don't read, apparently.

I normally play a melee character in games but I decided to make a Human Elementalist as my first character this time around in GW2.

That said (and more to the point) I can't wait for my 2nd character... Sylvari Guardian. Their area by FAR looks the best.

I would really like to see spears/halberds and possibly gauntlet type weapons for the future. Because remember folks, "This...is....TYRIA!!!!!"

My 2 favorite weapon choices... at least they have spears / tridents for underwater combat currently. (Hopefully it's not just limited to that though & yeah, the gauntlet is also why I want to see a martial arts based class. xD

Call me crazy, but i'm eventually rolling a Sylvari purely because their zones remind me of Teldrassil.
I love that lush colorful forest environment so much.

Do we have an update on all the new traits? I was watching the Curse Trait videos and there seems to be 12 traits per line now, as well as individual backgrounds themed to each trait for each profession.

I can confirm the individual backgrounds for the necro.

12 traits per line? What do you mean by this? Please explain. :O
