Actually, racist. Because if you look at the picture neutrally, there isn't anything negative about it. It is a picture of a kid smiling. Only through a racist filter does it become negative.

I shouldnt have to explain whats happening here or why the right is suddenly turning on Trayvon. I will say that I live in inner city east oakland gangland, probably not the best place to be if I were a racist...

I imagine some of your best friends are black as well huh?

I took issue with his line that he spouted over and over. And like mentioned above I will stop posting as to not get banned. But articles like that do nothing to help race relations, it widens the gap between people, because it goes on the assumption look at race as a group instead of as individuals. And its a bullshit article because of it.

You're missing the point on purpose.

The smear campaign against Treyvon Martin smacks of the legacy of the 1857 Dred Scott Decision.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dred_Scott

Dred Scott (1795 – September 17, 1858), was an African-American slave in the United States who unsuccessfully sued for his freedom and that of his wife and their two daughters in the Dred Scott v. Sandford case of 1857, popularly known as "the Dred Scott Decision." His case was based on the fact that although he and his wife Harriet Scott were slaves, he had lived with his master Dr. John Emerson in states and territories where slavery was illegal according to both state laws and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, including Illinois and Minnesota (which was then part of the Wisconsin Territory). The United States Supreme Court decided 7-2 against Scott, finding that neither he nor any other person of African ancestry could claim citizenship in the United States, and therefore Scott could not bring suit in federal court under diversity of citizenship rules.

These people, the slanderers, want to paint the dead 17 year old black kid as a criminal who derserved what he got because, in their mind, he doesn't deserve the protection of an American citizen.

And this is what brings us to the terrifying present, a period some 155 years later, but during which time it appears there are still far too many in the white community (and even some among persons of color) who would return us to the logic of Dred Scott. This they make clear from their hateful and bigoted musings about Trayvon Martin, a 17-year old black male who made the mistake, in their mind, of forgetting that he had no rights which white men (or even Latino white-male-wannabes like George Zimmerman) need respect. No right to go where he pleased, “without molestation,” no right to be treated like a citizen, indeed like a human being. No rights to due process, to peaceably assemble on a public street, to free speech (which he foolishly tried to exercise by asking his pursuer, Zimmerman, why he was following him), to be free from cruel and unusual punishment (such as extra-judicial execution for being black in a hoodie and thus arousing the suspicions of a paranoid negrophobe). No rights at all.

Just so those that would continue the false equivalence that the right and left are playing the race game, here's the report:

Upon arrival Ofc.T. Smith had a white male...

Yeah, so no. The left is not attempting to "smear" Zimmerman. It was the police who identified him as white.

Really, though, why not mouth off with an opinion, however uninformed. More fun, I guess.

Apparently the lead investigator wanted to Arrest Zimmerman the day of, he signed an affidavit saying as much. The State attorney said not to make an arrest.

"If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon Martin"

Mind telling us exactly what we're supposed to take from your post?

Uh huh. What was the purpose of your using a fake pic of Trayvon and attaching Obama's quote to it?

I suppose you have a black friend so that justifies your posts undercurrent of racism.

A Florida police department says women's jewelry found in Trayvon Martin's school backpack last year didn't match any that had been reported stolen.

The Miami Herald obtained a Miami-Dade Schools Police Department report that showed the slain teenager was suspended in October for writing obscene graffiti on a door at his high school.

The report says that during a search of his backpack, security officers found jewelry and a screwdriver that they felt could be a burglary tool. Martin told them a friend had given him the jewelry, but wouldn't say who.

Miami-Dade Police confirmed Tuesday that the jewelry didn't match any that had been reported stolen.

Wow, this is starting to get shameful. The kid is dead. Is smearing him with all this bullshit supposed to justify the killing?

To some people yes. It's stupid though, did Zimmerman know anything about Martin before he saw him? And if Zimmerman's supporters are saying things like this prove Martin was a thug, why would Zimmerman confront him? Wouldn't have been safer to stay in his car, like the police told him to?

Was a reason given? I can understand prosecution holding off in the interest of gathering more evidence to make the charges stick, but it doesn't seem like the police bothered.

It doesn't really matter if he's half white, a quarter white, or full Latino. Lots of Latinos and even a third of African Americans harbor anti-black bias. It's a part of American culture. If you watch the news everyday, you will see a disproportionately high number of black violent criminals and a disproportionately high number of white victims. This idea of the threatening black male and the innocent white victim has been with this nation for its entire history. It will have a psychological impact on everyone - even people of color will internalize these stereotypes to a certain extent. This murder is a racial issue because Zimmerman - regardless of his race - perceived an innocent boy as threat because of cultural ideas around black criminality. Further, the police (or state attorney) chose not to prosecute Zimmerman because of cultural ideas around white (or light skinned) innocence. They saw a dead black male and a living white (looking) man and presumed that the white man acted in self defense. No one is "increasing tensions" by bringing in race. Race is a part of this story and a part of this country. And the only way to prevent things like this happening in the future is to confront the reality of racial discrimination head on.

No, it's apparently another Trayvon Martin.

I'm pretty sure the grill is him and the shirt off is another trayvon.

I don't get why the gril picture is bad. Was it halloween? A joke?

I've tried to take gangster pics when I was younger will they be used as a smeer if I'm killed?

I was listening on the radio, the only part I caught was that the investigator didn't buy Zimmermans story.

There is an msnbc interview with Zimmermans lawyer in which he apparently leaves the set, anyone see this?

So...Am I the only one in the boat of not really caring about this NBC drama fest? The law will handle it and it's harder to do when a bunch of idiots make gatherings trying to get involved too. Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I don't really care for the result of what happens, I would rather just have both "sides" shut up about something they're drawing their own conclusions too (much like in every other case that pops up).

I said it yesterday this is all the media has left to find while deliberation goes on in the background surrounding possible trial and evidence brought forth. From here on out we will only get 'anonymous reports' and digging in the past and since the media desperately wants to make this affair not seem so black and white (False equivalency bullshit), they are beginning to do character assassination techniques to try and make the victim look more dangerous then he actually was at the time of the crime.

Actually most of my friends are latino. Am i allowed to post the negative stereotype image of Trayvon now?

It doesn't give you a pass to simply post it up and not explain what your post meant. And it doesn't mean that you can't harbor grievances towards blacks. You took a picture that mostly racist/conservatives are using to portray the boy in a less flattering light. What was the point of posting a quote from the president and juxtaposing it to a picture that is used to make a victim look less scrupulous? What was your intent?

If the killing of innocent black kid doesn't affect your life in anyway, and thus you don't give a shit, don't post in the thread.

I'm not mouthing off an opinion. I'm stating the truth. You're trying to hold significance to nothing. It's a police report. Let's point out the significance of their weight. Their eyes. Their height. Are they all correct? You're trying to perpetuate and combine this entire left vs right, black vs white dichotomy out of no where.

This man clearly does not look white. Anyone saying otherwise needs to walk outside some more.

It's truly sad that the kid died. It really is. He shouldn't have died. Maybe the man Zimmerman made a mistake, maybe he didn't... who knows. Everyone is trying to point a finger or point out some fact to make them right. No one fucking knows what down that night to the fine details, yet everyone is extremely fast to point fingers at race. Sad.

The law is handling it NOW because of the people speaking up.

Is the law handling it because it's a racial issue now? If so that's sad. More importance should be focused on how the department handled the case and not on the race of the people involved.

Uh huh. What was the purpose of your using a fake pic of Trayvon and attaching Obama's quote to it?

If he didn't know it was a fake picture, it confirms my statement that the smear campaign is working. If he does know it was a fake picture ... it confirms not only that the smear campaign is working, but that he's an asshole on top of it.

Even if he thought the picture was real, he's still falling into the trap that somehow the pictures/info being released has something to do with why Travon was shot. Which it doesn't.

Yes. You're a unique butterfly. A butterfly who deprecates the killing of a 17 year-old buy as an NBC Drama Fest wherein you don't care about the outcome.

But you care enough to post. Fly, butterfly, fly.

No. You claimed it was political. You were wrong. It was the officer on scene who identified Zimmerman as white. You are typing a whole bunch of words to obfuscate the fact that you were wrong.

Shiiiet, I have some of those stereotypical portrait shoot pictures from the shopping mall where me and my Filipino friends look imposing by conservative standards. The homie had on a bandana/visor on too. I'm sure you guys know the kind of pics I'm talking about, the ones handed out to other friends in highschool. In the event I die in some bullshit circumstances, I hope nobody has that up on some social media site. Because some of the people who were quick to judge a kid for rocking a grill would have saw a picture of me then and not predicted I'd be where I am today.

I have no convictions
Don't do drugs(though I've smoked before)
I'm a pilot
I'm a college graduate
