Really? That's disappointing. I always thought of Toph as the best there is :(

Yeah that's kind of bullshit. Tremorsense is the perfect counter to earthbending. She should basically be able to see the future.

Though maybe Bumi mastered it despite being sighted. Who knows.

Plus Mike and Bryan said in the artbook that Toph was created as the ebst earthbender tehre is.

Yeah, she has a crippling weakness that can be easily exploited by Fire and Airbenders.

Katara's style of bending seems to require her being grounded. Earthbending also requires this.

Though Korra's style of bending is pretty damn athletic, and includes jump kicks.

Toph could beat any Earthbender though.

I give Katara a lot of credit, the season finale when she decided to become the Iceman was brilliant. Aang Ozai battle was the most flashy but she had the best move out of anyone.

Katara was the one who trained Korra in waterbending right? So she got to train two Avatars.

Oh I wasn't dissing Katara. Her bending is absolutely powerful, it just isn't athletic. She typically remains grounded, and prefers being stationary.

Korra (at least during the probending matches we saw) was going all sorts of jump kicks.

Being a good fighter ≠ Being a good bender. Toph is certainly the better bender, but Bumi has 100 years of experience on his side. He could definitely handle himself against a more skilled opponent.

Don't forget, Toph's signature move is to protect herself in a suit. In the finale, she took out some firebenders pretty easily by creating a suit of metal and thereby rendering their fire attacks useless against her. Plus, she's really freakin fast. You have about a two second window to take her out or else you're toast.

But Toph isn't a slouch in terms of skill. I don't see how Bumi can compete with seeing the future. Toph's tremorsense is powerful enough to sense what action the earthbender will take before he can even complete it.

This could be a result of the Probending limitations placed on Waterbending since you'll be a sitting duck otherwise

I love whenever anyone makes a suit or glove:

I can't find the pic of it but I think Aang made a suit to protect himself from Ozai's firebending.

You can't spread prosperity to the 3 other nations when you genocide 1 of them.

Duh. But he wanted to stay in power. And in his twisted mind, knowing that an airbender was next, he decided to eliminate the airbenders so his reign could go on forever.

As I said before, he thought that what he was doing was right. It doesn't have to make sense, since sociopaths have little of it to begin with.

We didn't get to know Sozin all that well. He was a nice kid but it seemed he kept getting power hungry and eager to control others as he got older. Perhaps his feelings continued to grow and he slipped into deep resentment and a bit of madness after Roku kicked his ass. We know Azula and Ozai aren't exactly well adjusted and happy people, I suspect that is genetic.

The creators flat out stated that Azula was made a sociopath, not born one.

Google Toph vs Bumi and a Photobucket gallery should be the first result. I think you can find it in The Lost Adventures compilation.

"No offense pops, but just because you're old as dirt doesn't mean you know how to bend it."

Just checked this out and god dammit Sokka LOLOLOLOL

"Go Bumi!! old people represent"

The Toph v. Bumi draw doesn't mean much to me. They had to end it early as a draw, it's not like a double KO or something.

With the way the fight was going, it would take an outcome of cataclysmic proportions to decide a clear winner.

The real losers would be anyone within a ten mile radius.

Just saw the Swamp. Yeah I do not like that episode. I almost hate the swamp bender people. Best thing was the foreshadowing for Toph and the return of the Blue Spirit.
