Nope. The facts back me up. AiTM posted some of them. Black people are charged with hate crimes and accused of racism all the time.

Some white people are unfortunately full of weird victimization fantasies so they think otherwise, but they are wrong.

Even if these posts everyone is quoting are dumb and immediately confrontational, I don't see how they are racist, let alone comparable to Stormfront or the fucking KKK. Would things be different the other way around? I don't think so, this event seems so stupid that I would hope everyone can see that it's just based on one individual's mental imbalance. But obviously people feel like news stories are approached differently due to race, so why can't they say it?

If they didn't want to get the crap kicked out of them then they wouldn't have kept trying her. I'm guessing it was the entire team because you see red shirts teammates getting involved later on.

If you don't want to get punched in the back, then you probably shouldn't elbow somebody in the chest. If they didn't want to get thrown to the ground then they probably shouldn't have tried giving her a front wedgie. I'm guessing that doesn't feel too good or else the girl in the white shirt wouldn't be doing it.

What was the girl supposed to do? Would you sit there all intimidated and let somebody push you around like that?

Is it even possible to define "racist" here anymore? Here's my Mac's dictionary's offering for "racism":

the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, esp. so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

Where does that apply to these comments? These people are complaining about media coverage, they're not saying that any race is better than any other.

I don't think they are racist but there is obviously a racial element and probably resentment in these comments. Aside from that I think the comments are straight up stupid and shit up this thread.

Except racism has been so liberally applied to just about any circumstance involving an altercation between people of different color that the word has ceased to have any real definable meaning.

Why does it even need to be discussed? This is about some chick getting her face punched in during a soccer match. Not media coverage of race relations in the States.

For all we know, that might have happened if the grownups hadn't been around to intervene and pull her away. The attacker didn't seem to have any intention of stopping - even when the lady prevented her from throwing more punches, she was still dragging the girl across the ground by her hair.

Sure things could have been a lot worse, but it was still a "brutal" assault imo. I don't blame the parents for wanting to press charges.

No, the only people who should be ignored are those that stifle conversation, like yourself. The post to start all of this off was the FIRST POST, so clearly when people see the video in question, this is one of their first thoughts. If it's on everyone's minds, it is as à propos as it can be.

What is there to discuss? First reply was made by a dumbass. None of what he said is true, and the fact that this is a news story proves that everyone that claims it wouldn't be a news story if it was a white person being beaten are dumbasses as well. This was already on yahoo news yesterday.

The trip or the "fight"? The trip is definitely something that happens in every game of soccer ever. Beating the shit out of a girl on the other team is definitely not something that happens normally at any level of sports.

This thread has already sunk to disgraceful levels with people being apologists ("I bet she said a racial slur" is really just as misguided the "Treyvon is a thug" defense force), the false equivalency ("where is the CNN spotlight and President Obama?" is a pretty dumb thing to say, no one is dead or seriously injured), and others throwing out "racist!" and "reverse racist!" while diluting the meaning of both terms.

If some white guy had punched Bruce Bowen in the throat during a game, I would have said he had it coming. And I'm black. Of course, that assessment requires context.

Fact - a ridiculously salty soccer player took a questionable call personally and ruined the game for everyone else. She deserves any punishment handed down by the league and the law. If her actions were racially, sexually, or religiously motivated, that will come out if anyone bothers to follow this story.
