I just got into an argument on FB about this.
luckily the friend deleted the picture cause the guy was stupid, claiming that the mainstream media was hiding the fact that trayvon had jewelry on him and a "burglary" tool.

I like how they ignore the jewelry he supposed stole didn't match what was stolen. And how a screwdriver is suddenly a burglary tool in the hands of a black guy.

Uh i hate when people do this comparing cases nonsense. Both cases are sad but lets be honest in this day and age unless your story grabs attention it won't get the press.

The Trayvon story could have been like that for those of us who been in this thread since the beginning it could have sunk with barely a murmur. It didn't take off until it's third week and even then it was only because people were so shocked that Zimmerman had not been arrested and the social networks pushed it on. The James Cooper and James Kouzaris murder is a horrific case and i've been following it as they were brits. And was glad to see justice done this week and that soulless psycho Shawn Tyson get sentenced.

But this Trayvon story has again shown the racial lines these cases always take on. I face-palmed reading some of the replies to that guys post. Especially Kirstens African American/Nigger point

Showing her true racist colours with that graph and then proceeds to say there is a difference between black people and niggers. Sigh.

Well the witnesses that are being interviewed on CNN are saying they saw zimmerman on top of Trayvon. I believe them more than I do Zimmermans constantly changing bullshit story.

It's that persecution complex.

Their still should be blood spatter i.e. a spray pattern derived from the entry wound.

They didn't see anything before the gunshot, they didn't go look until after that. They didn't see him on Martin before the gunshot, but after that. They didn't specify how long it was after the shot that they actually were able to get a view.

They also pretty much say they didn't hear the struggle that you can hear on the back of the 911 the other lady made.

There was obviously a struggle, as the screaming was pretty loud before the gunshot.

I don't believe Zimmerman was on Martin's back and shot him point blank down, there's nothing so far to back that up.

I can't wait for a true forensics investigation to be completed so we can have a better idea what happened in the final minutes, where the body was, where the entry would angle came from, so you can place where Zimmerman was, etc... at this point all the other stuff is just noise confusing things more.

Nope. Best I can do is send a message.
Oh, if I had known that I wouldn't have posted the link to begin with. Thought it was public. Well he tagged me in there for a reason; to get my attention.

I was hoping to post something and then get gaffers to post as well, so I wouldn't be arguing alone with these quacks, but I guess that's not happening.

I'm thinking of compiling gaf's comments and posting them there on the behalf of sane people, but ah well... not sure that'd be appropriate. I just would like to change the minds of these people.

PS. I'm curious now, what's the message you sent out?

I didn't send one, but I feel almost compelled to. Probably won't.

He was so condescending that I had to stop early.

Ding ding ding. Do I like Piers a lot of the time? Not really, he's mostly an interview/entertainment guy. But the interview was fine, and dude just wanted more pushback and didn't get it, then tried to excuse it because Piers 'didn't get it', when Piers was being the actual professional by relying on facts and not speculation. Garbage.

+1 on Toure making an ass of himself.

Toure exposed himself outside of his Dylan Ratigan bubble, he comes as racist as he claims other people are about this case. As I said before, put this much venom and energy towards the fact black on black violence since as a black man I am much much more likely to get killed by another black man than random racist white guy

Man, that Chris Rock bit is a huge double edge sword. It's a really funny bit, but also problematic when used in the wrong context by dumb ass people.

We talked about this at work. Me and a friend who is also italian-american were bitching about how the media in general and shows like Jersey Shore and Sopranos make us look. Suddenly another friend, who happens to be black, deadpans "tell me about it" and brought up the Chris Rock bit.

There are reasons for the stereotypes out there, if you fall into those categories you sometimes get caught up in it unfairly.

Wheres this Chris Rock sketch you guys are talking about?
It's nothing new relating to Trayvon

in the facebook post from earlier a girl said that "there are black people and niggers". What everyones talking about here is the bring the pain "black people vs niggas" bit.

I just check other people's claims that are often baseless, or directly contradict the evidence we have at this time.

Threads like this need someone playing that role
, otherwise it just turns into a giant circle jerk of conspiratorial claims and opinions not backed up by reality.

I've said it many times already, I think Zimmerman should be charged with manslaughter. So if you want to peg me a defender, you'd be wrong. The dude should be arrested and sent to jail for a good while.
So you're just being annoying for the heck of it?

KHarvey'd.

This link provides scans of the police officer's reports from the scene. I read them a couple days ago. Hopefully this will suffice as hard enough proof for you.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/...ayvon-Martin-shooting-answers-a-few-questions

"While I was in such close contact with Zimmerman, I could observe his back appeared to be wet and was covered in grass, as if he had been laying on his back on the ground. Zimmerman was also bleeding from the nose and back of his head."

One thing to keep in mind about these police reports is that they were written in the early morning hours of the next day. One was written at 2:28 am, and the other at 3:29 am. This has relevance because, if it is true that the State attorney declined to press charges sometime that night, subsequent police reports will be written to fit that decision. That's not to say that I disbelieve these particular observations, but there is no reason to take these police reports as gospel.

So I was just watching a segment on Politics Nation from yesterday and found out a few really interesting things.

Firstly, Zimmerman was under arrest as shown in the video. This is significant, because you can't arrest someone unless you have probable cause.

Secondly, under Florida law, it's IMPOSSIBLE to "unarrest" someone once they've been arrested. Once they've been arrested, they have to be booked, fingerprinted, and photographed. None of that happened in this case. He was simply unhandcuffed and allowed to just walk out. This even furthers the theory that his father somehow or another influenced his released.

Finally, you have to be formally charged within 175 days of an arrest under Florida law. As things stand now, over 30 days of the 175 have already been lost due to his initial arrest.

If you want to see the whole segment, it's here. Pretty mind-boggling stuff and definitely screams of coverup.

lol @ Ed Craft's comment. Apparently, according to Eddie, this is a more recent photo of Trayvon:

Wow, thanks for the summery, I'm so gonna watch this. This is crazy, I initially thought it was strange that they could unarrest someone after seeing the video (as I thought he was never in handcuffs in the first place). And also thought it was strange he was released soon after in a case of murder, where I always thought there has be an investigation before that could happen.

Based on the precedent of Justin Collison, who wasn't arrested the night he got into several fights (including cheapshotting a homeless guy trying to keep the peace), this is absolutely plausible.

I wonder what Robert Zimmerman's call logs look like that night.

I think they could say that he was being legally detained without being arrested. Yes, it does look like an arrest, but the handcuffs are not dispositive. They could have just said we are taking you tot he station to ask a few questions, but you are not under arrest.

Just saw this on my FB. *sigh*

Unbelievable how some don't think it's a race issue, and are twisting the facts. Just woke up so I haven't had a chance to write something back, but for those interested in politely enlightening others, go for it.

PS. backstory; one guy tagged me because I was debating this issue with him, and he eventually just deleted all of his comments on my post as he realized he was flat out wrong. Asinine.

I am going to share this with a lot of people.

Hope the guy is ready to defend his comments.

Why does Trayvon grow a foot each week in these guys minds?

People like Toure are not doing anyone any favors. Dude was getting way too upset then tried to call out Piers on unprofessionalism.

"Here in America..."

smh

So many white people are claiming that George Zimmerman is not white, but hispanic.

His father is white. His mother is Peruvian.

The One Drop Rule is alive and well.

In this day and age.

Fuck.

Watched the Piers interview...Damn, Toure has such a fucking agenda it's not even funny. When he kept going to the "you're british so you can't understand" line, I just got really irked.

Ignoring the comments, I thought that was a really well written piece by "Max".

You say "Unbelievable how some don't think it's a race issue"...can you show proof that it is?

Both sides of this are claiming they know 100% what happened, and it's ridiculous no matter which side you're on.

I've taken a very passive stance on this, I'm just watching from the sidelines and shaking my head at everybody.

The very fact the Trayvon was profiled makes it a racial issue.

Interesting. I think its pretty well known that kids of judges just get off in general. I had two friends whose dads were judges and one of them got pulled over all the time. As soon as the officer found out his dad was a district county judge they just let him off. It certainly seems like zimmerman's dad played a role in his release as well.

Trayvon was racially profiled. Zimmerman doesn't have to be a card-carrying member of the KKK to have this "be about race". It was inherent in his actions and attitude towards a young man that was doing absolutely nothing to warrant such scrutiny.
