Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

I'm still working up the nerve to go through the Deadly Premonition ER. I think I actually want to play that game at some point though, so I'm not sure I want to.

Sigh, I guess I really got to watch the P4 Endurance run at some point. It's the only GB content I haven't see (I watched all the other ER). I love the guys so I'm sure I would find it funny but I have absolutly zero interest in P4.... I guess I'll have to give it a try at some point.

I had less than zero interest in anything Persona, but watching the ER made me a believer. It is the perfect endurance run material.
Watch it now.

Don't you mean 'out' of 'everything'.

I often wonder whether they completely disregard all of the bitching that Alex and Patrick seem to get all of the time and just chalk it up as idiots being dumb, or if they ever at any point actually started wondering what the issue is that a fairly large amount of people seem to take with the guys, because the "UGHHHHHHHHH, Patrick is in this" comments never actually went away.

Ryan is a straight up cunt on Twitter. I think it's a good insight to him outside of the GB personality and he's the only one of the guys I wouldn't want to meet.

Also, I'm really tempted to buy Doom on Steam after that first Breaking Brad.

Bah Ryan always been kiss ass with the industry. I guess he wants to keep doors open for when he will get tired of getting shit for free and will inevitably go to the other side.

This. I don't have any idea what this is about.
Of the 50+ at OMGPOP, a single employee, Shay Pierce, refused to join Zynga after the buy-out. He wrote this on Gamasutra explaining his reasoning which mainly consisted of not being happy with the ownership status of his own iOS game being left ambiguous (and Zynga refusing the amend his employment contract to clarify) and the general corporate culture at Zynga. At no point did he insult or insinuate anything about OMGPOP or his former co-workers.

Yesterday the CEO of OMGPOP, Dan Porter, tweeted this:

Dan Porter has since deleted and apologized for those tweets. However if you look at some other tweets, he just sounds like a bit of a clueless dick.

He's always been Big Business Defense Force

It's more like he's always devil's advocate, really. It's more like he's always taking a stance contrary to that of internet opinion. Which, hey, I find kinda understandable, given how internet opinion is most often histrionically dumb.

I like Ryan, though I wish he'd try and offer a more nuanced view of whatever the internet is overreacting about this week rather than just outright taking the opposite stance.

Don't see the problem here. CEO feeling frustrated with all the 'Zynga is shit shit shit' talk and his fellow devs (probably close friends due to the company being start up) feeling a bit bummed out with all the publicity from that connectrode guy. That plus some alcohol.

And the lure of twitter.

Also, yeah, a bit of this. Zynga's a shitty company, but things have gotten to the point where you can't mention Zynga without know-nothings piping in with the stupid vitriol. I mean, the first page of that OMGPOP employee story on GAF is kinda embarassing.

Play better games, like Illbeed, Vampire Rain, Blue Stinger an Overblood.

You shut your lying mouth!

Deadly Premonition is one of the best things to happen to this generation!

I understand, Jintor. I didn't watch the P4 er until after I finally got around to playing it last year. I had to pass on the Chrono one too, since I bought it on my DS and plan to play it... one day.

A guy who decides to not join because of creative concerns, never threatens legal bullshit, never lashes out, is then rundown and made to look like a leach.

It's pathetic and agreeing with any element of it shows poor judgement.

And GB would be better off without him.

I don't think I'd mind if ryan left at all. He's a great host but I've never really liked any of his output on the site, or quick looks which he heads. Besides jeff is secretly the real best host, nintendownloadxpress proves this. All i need is vinny, jeff, brad, drew and dave.

I understand it's the game equivalent of Birdemic and the Room, but badness in game form is harder to get through.

I don't need Ryan to go, but I don't get why their best front of camera guy is stuck behind it.

A TITAN OF INDUSTRY called him a leech, therefore, he's a leech.

Everyone trying to steal dude's drawings :(

You're all just entitled! Quit being entitled! ENTITLED!

Thanks for explaining this, guys. Although, I'm not really that surprised. :\

He really is that asshole who all your awesome friends insist on bringing everywhere. Even worse, I loathe how he has become the "face" of Giant Bomb, hosting the Bombcast and the vast majority of livestream content. There's no getting away from the guy.

I have no issue with Ryan, and I really don't have much of a problem with the Twitter thing. That said, if someone told me that they really don't like him in the least, I would find nothing weird about that at all. There are tons of opinions you could have that would get me to argue the point, but not liking Ryan would just make me go "Yeah, okay. I can see that."

See, this isn't exactly true, is it? He actually went out and wrote an editorial for gamasutra, an industry publication. Did you read it? Note that part of his premise is that Zynga is evil. It starts out with him talking about protecting his game, but then it gets muddled into talking about how not working for Zynga is a moral choice, and how other developers should take his cue.

I mean, certainly, the guy is very polite about it, but it very much comes off as holier than thou. If I was one of this guy's former colleagues I'd be very inclined to tell him to fuck off. Now, the CEO's comments were pretty petty, and he shouldn't have gone to attacking him professionally, but like Ryan I can see where his annoyance came from. The dude's an idiot, clearly, but again, internet overreaction is painting the guy like a baby eater.

It's pathetic and agreeing with any element of it shows poor judgement.

I'll take your word on it.

Assuming you mean Vinny I think doing the production stuff is something that he really, really enjoys.

If he's happy that's fine, but he really makes QLs his part of and Random PC Game fun to watch, I don't feel the same benefit so much with some funny transitions or video overlays.
