Ha, I can't speak on gears, but I played Killzone 3 and I thought it looked like shit. Most blatant use of illusion to spice up a games graphics. But everything sticks out like a sore thumb.

I dont think it looks like shit, but I do agree that it uses a lot of different techniques to hide things. Its not my favorite game for looks, but it does do some things right. Uncharted gets my money for being "jaw dropping". Such a great game. (Also, Gears 3 is pretty nice also)
