The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

They all have auto-shoot & that's it.
Deathsmiles is the only one that has full manual shot options, everything else only has the auto shot and shot on/off setup.

I've sent them a preemptive email about Ketsui begging for full manual along with a photoshopped control mockup just cause it'd drive me nuts trying to play it with the auto/on/off setup. Scoring in the other games is already hard enough for me because of it, at least they added the hold for laser option in most of them I guess.
How "HD" are those Cave HD games. I have an iPad 1.
1024x768, looks fine on the new iPad though.

...not that it matters for you cause they require 512MB RAM (iPad 1 has 256), and won't play at full framerate on anything less than the A5.

Brazil’s iTunes App Store now rolling out a Games section

http://itunes.apple.com/br/genre/ios-jogos/id6014

Looks like Apple finally found a way to work with the local games legislation. I suspect it has to do with them upping the minimum age in the Brazilian iTunes terms of use to 18 (with people between 13 and 18 needing parental supervision) instead of the normal 13 from other countries, but I'm not sure if it was always like that here.

I searched and tested a bit through web iTunes and it seems to be the full selection, even the more recent games like Monster Flip are there.

Hopefully this means I can stop using the Uruguayan store (which only has apps and public domain e-books, no music and other media). I also have a US account for deals like freemyapps, but I like the convenience of using my CC directly instead of dealing with iTunes credit from third party stores. And the idea of using a local account is more appealing to me anyway. It's also good news for other people I know with iDevices. Everyone wins!

(The iTunes BR Facebook page was pretty funny when the music/movies stores launched last year, everyone kept whining about games in the comments of every update. Looking forward to the post announcing the games there.)

Question for anyone that plays "Jubeat Plus":

I redownloaded the game on an ipad 3, and all of the song packs that I purchased (on my ipad 2) are not showing up.

Is the DLC locked to the device in which it was purchased?

It's a simple dice-based co-op game. It's definitely not 90% luck though, there are actually important tactical and strategic decisions to be made throughout, but there's little underlying rules complexity. And yes you are chucking dice so there's definitely luck involved but not an unreasonable amount at all imo.

That said dsfdf though, the game just really clicked for me when I played it on Android. The one thing it was missing was more bosses and achievements.

It actually sounds pretty fun with the dice. I think maybe it lost that in translation. I really had no idea.

It took me a few plays to appreciate Elder Sign: Omens. It's a dice game, so naturally it's going to have a strong random element, but your actions mitigate the randomness quite a bit:

- Each character has a special skill that will be more handy for some adventures than others.
- You need to consider what items each character is holding and whether those items will help.
- You need to check the consequences of failing an adventure and make sure the active character can handle it.
- You need to use items wisely when rolling the dice and be sure not to waste items you didn't need.
- You need to prioritize which adventures to attempt. Sometimes it'll be better to go for one that rewards you with one or more elder signs. Other times you may want to go for the items another quest will earn you.
- You need to consider teamwork amongst your characters. If a particularly brutal monster needs to be killed, maybe it'll be worth sending a character at him knowing he will likely fail so you have him there to assist your next character coming up, who is a much better matchup.

I'm probably forgetting a few things, but you get the idea. It's a much better game than it will appear at first glance. Just give it a few plays and let the strategy sink in a little.

Looking around it sounds like it should pop up the "you've already purchased this, download for free" dialog if you hit the buy buttons, I guess like how the App Store was before when you just had to try it and only found out afterwards if you had it before or not.

Just make sure you're signed into the App Store with the same account you bought them with earlier.

Anyone else have a problem with the IAP on the Elder Scrolls update? My old iPad 1 has no issue, but the iPad 3 can't connect to download it. (Nb - this is a bisque problem with Elder Scrolls, everything else works fine)

I hope there are no surprises this time, I suffered enough with the Argentinian misadventures.

edit: It's heeeere. Search seems very wonky at the moment but clicking from web iTunes works just fine. I'll change the country in my account later and see how it goes. Still checking some non-game apps that may be missing.

EPOCH - is there actual story extensions on the higher difficulties? I finished Easy mode last night, enjoyed it a little, but it was super repetitive. Does it actually add more on harder difficulties or am I safe in just saying "thanks for the time" and moving on. Picked it up when it was on sale for a buck.

quoting myself. any insight? someone here has played it i'm sure.

Thanks, man. That dialog popped up and I downloaded everything again.

I like how you call it Elder Scrolls :p

Also, FUCK YEAH buying Nightfall as soon as I get home.

Also, FUCK NO i bought the dwarves this morning :(

Are there any Warcraft 2 clones on iOS? And why the hell doesn't Blizzard port Warcraft 1, 2 and 3? That shit would print money.

Beat Bug Princess 2 on Normal really easily. The bullet patterns on Normal at the beginning are really lame but get better in later levels.

Hell mode (which is the actual bullet patterns) has really fun patterns to start and then gets freaking bananas starting on Stage 3.

But my high score on my normal clear didnt get recorded for some stupid reason. I had 100mil too. Boo.

The enemy designs are ridiculously good.

Bought Nightfall and Mushi Hime Futari. I'm just trying to get used to Nightfall now and playing my first online game. If anyone wants to play, just add me, BIOtheCAT, on gamecenter.

Yeah, my 1CC clear on normal didn't record either. Was pretty bummed.

Confirmed, this is how you reactivate songpacks on jukebeat/jubeat plus - which gets quite annoying when you have to do it 40 times over. I noticed though that the actual song data actually gets restored via iCloud but you still have to go to the in-game store just to activate it all.

Did you activate OpenFeint support? Some previous Cave releases glitched out if you didn't.

Alright, I got some more Starbucks codes. Only works for US iTunes account.

1x Snapseed
3x W.E.L.D.E.R.
9x Golfplan with Paul Azinger

PM me if you want any of them. First come, first serve.

Someone asked specifically earlier, and I don't remember if there was a response but...

The retina update for Battle Academy looks pretty incredible. The game's style really shines a lot more, and the menus and mini-comics look super super crisp.

Game is definitely worth it if you are willing to invest the $20 and the time you'll spend with it.

Gameloft made one. I can't remember what it was called, but it played fairly well. It was one of their older games in 2D.

Someone should do a FFVIII style card game, complete with the pokemon-like RPG aspect though, progressing through the world, each region with its own twists in rules or whatever, challenging others and taking their cards, etc, not just multiplayer/ai battles.

I've just started playing Assassins Creed Recollections, and I really don't get it. I did the whole tutorial but it still makes pretty much 0 sense to me. Are the other deck building games as complicated, and similar in how they play?

Just keep at it. Once you get down the strategies, you'll be hooked. At least I am.

I guess ACR is sort of a DBG but it's also a CCG so it's got that complexity CCGs need to make them appealing. Ascension I feel like is actually quite straightforward -- you can probably learn it top-to-bottom in 15m. It's too bad Dominion official app isn't out because that's the most basic DBG (and also arguably still the best) but I like Ascension a fair bit. Nightfall is definitely a step up in complexity from Ascension fwiw.

I'd say Ascension isn't tooooo easy, especially for someone new to the genre. I'd say Food Fight is better as an entrance point there?
