Man, I'm always late when Games are given away for free.
Do the Cave games support iCade? If so I'll buy one this week.

No, they don't. I think Cave has expressed interest in updating the games to support it.

Elder Sign is brilliant, though I wish they'd add more complexity layers so that it's more akin to Arkham Horror. Companions would be great, and I don't think they'd get in the way. I almost feel like there aren't enough strategic options right now. Though the upcoming expansion is making me froth with desire.
Also, I want Arkham Horror, ungimped, on my iPhone.

I agree that Elder Sign is fun, but it's not supposed to be anything like Arkham, it just shares a theme. Also agree it would be amazing to get Arkham on iPad. Don't even need any funky online play or anything -- simply being able to not have to do all the accounting and constant monitoring of 10+ different statuses at all times would be really interesting.
I am loving it once I forced myself to figure out how it works.

But it is a lot like Arkham, and going by their feature descriptions it sounds like it's supposed to be even more like Arkham though they dialed it down. Adding a companion to each investigator (which I assume is in the tabletop version of the game) would add sooo much, I've never played it irl but I'm curious to check it out now.

Either one of the HD games. The non-HD ones are too blurry for my tastes.
Deathsmiles is my favourite. It's a horizontal gothic themed shooter. But the sprites are really low res. This seriously needs an HD update.
DDP Ressurection HD is the one providing you got a 4S, iPad 2 or New iPad. But it cost £10.
This depends on your taste...
If you just want maniac shooting with very simple controls... Bug Princess 1.
If you dislike the "blurry" graphics" take DDP Res. HD
Or just start with Bug Princess 2 because its the cheapest at the moment

Saturday Morning RPG is not a thing I'm going to pay for more of. It looks nice and the theme is great, but the battle system is an absolute chore and I'm sick of it already.
It took some getting used to, but I like it.

Here's how it works:
Start as many matches as you like and make your run.
Try to run as far as you can: meters count, not points (so everyone has the same chance!)
You'll be notified when a match is over. Enjoy the ceremony!
(Hint: tap on the other Nosferatus to learn more about your competitors!)
Rewards:
1st place: 5000 coins - 25 points for the leaderboard
2nd place: 2500 coins - 20 points for the leaderboard

I imagine it'd be weird/unfair scoring wise...in both ways really. Easier for tight stuff with a stick but with the touchscreen you have no speed limitations. The separate iPhone Espgaluda II games (arcade and smartphone) are cheaper by a buck actually (while the separate HD ones are $7 iirc). Otherwise DDP Blissful Death (DOJ) and Bug Princess 1 are also $5, but that's their normal price vs BP2's sale price right now.This depends on your taste...

I didn't recommend Espgaluda 2 because its Smartphone mode is nothing like the other Cave STGs and its normal mode is rather complicated to play on touchscreen.

Haven't played in years. Picked up Monopoly for my iPad though. May still grab Risk. Too bad there isn't a good iPad version of Clue. :/

settings -> general -> keyboard -> international keyboards -> add new keyboard -> emoji
It's not an app. You can add an emoji keyboard to your iOS device in the keyboard section of the settings screen and there's a Space Invaders enemy emoji in there.

For those still playing Cytus, version 1.2.0 is in review now. Judging by the Android version that just released, there will be 2-3 new songs (and still no timing window changes wtf).

personally my favorite right now is DDP Resurrection, Blissful Death is also quite good - My biggest complaint with deathsmiles though is that my hand obscures part of the screen while I'm moving my thumb around the screen, so I end up missing when enemies appear sometimes, which really screws me over. If Deathsmiles was a horizontal shooter that only had enemies coming from one direction that'd be a different story (ergo, I have no problems with Darius Burst, for instance).
Cave is revered by the shooter community as one of the very best to develop these kinds of games. It also helps that touch controls suit shmups wonderfully and Cave's ports have been rather excellent, if a bit pricey. The price is more than justified IMO, the alternative for most is to buy an arcade PCB or import their Japanese/Europe 360 releases. A few are region free and some are locked.
I'm working on Bug Princess 2 scoring now. I've read the shmups forum guide but some things are unclear. For example, how do I magnetize the gems around me? It seems like switching shot back and forth works but I'm not sure exactly what is required.
Also the counter changes color in Maniac mode, is that relevant? I understand Original, but I thought maniac was about chaining with shot and using laser when gauge is red. If anyone can point me to a guide outside the original shmups forum thread I'd greatly appreciate it.
DDP Res is my favorite right now too. Interestingly, Deathsmiles was the game that got me hooked on iOS Cave. You're right about the control issues. The horizontal scrollers are superior.
It's not HD, it's universal with a large border on iPad like the original Bug Princess release.
You suck in gems with shot A and to suck in gems with shot B you have to either stop shooting or switch to A. To simulate this i have set the controls from switch to hold.
Please note that the gems have a glow for a few moments, you have to nearly point blank the enemys to get the gems in this glowing state.
Maniac scoring:

You build the combo meter while killing things with A or holding A on big enemys. When you kill things with the combo meter in red they give you double the amount of gems. The Idea is to build up your combo meter shoot at a big enemy with A and kill it with B while in the red zone...
