Family of Florida boy killed by Neighborhood Watch seeks arrest

It's ethnic stereotyping, which is racism. What he was wearing is irrelevant because Zimmerman would not have bothered if Travyon was white and wearing the same clothes.

Ethnic stereotyping is assuming all Indians run convenience stores. Or all Chinese people eat rice.

This is not ethnic stereotyping.

You don't understand sarcasm well, huh?

Oh that makes it better, he was stereotyped "because black people wear that get up" (i.e. hoodie, skittles and a tea) while committing crime.

I don't know who's worse, Geraldo for outright saying it, or you tap dancing around the shit like it makes it any better.

Oh god. Please stop. It hurts man.

The pain -- my ribs

Feel free to look up what Racial Profiling is, and the definition of it. You are wrong.

Racial profiling would be if the race was the only factor involved. It wasn't. It was everything about the situation.

Racial profiling would be if he followd Trayvon weather he was in a suit, basketball gear, hoodie and baggie pants, or a bathing suit.

Dude why are you being so obtuse?

If Trayvon was wearing a suit I doubt he would be followed.
You don't know that. Furthermore, by advancing that argument you implicitly confirm the view that black people should expect to be treated differently than white people for wearing the same kinds of clothes, and that they should pick their dress accordingly. You're buying into exactly the same racist assumptions.

My point is the death is not race related. It may be anger related, or fake tough guy related. But Trayvon was not gunned down for being black.
Fuck, I thought we were past this. You cannot separate factors like that. None of those things is mutually exclusive. It was very likely all three of those things coming together. And you're backtracking, because you already admitted Zimmerman had used racist thinking when deciding to follow Martin. That makes what he did after inherently race-related. It wouldn't have happened if not for his internalized racism.

I'm going to play Q for a minute and take you back to the night of the shooting. As the omnipotent being, I give you one chance to change something about Travyon and see if you can avoid the incident. So, given those options, which would be the most surefire thing to change on Travyon to avoid him getting killed that night? You can only pick one.

A. Hoodie to a jacket/coat
B. Baggy pants to khakis/jeans
C. Race from black to white.

I'm awaiting Blackface's answer to this question.

ATTN: Black People

If you are in a neighborhood where a crime has been committed at any point, do not wear a hoddie, because you will be a prime suspect in a future crime you may or may not commit. And wearing said clothing gives any good moral upstanding citizen the right to ask you what you are doing and hold you until the authorities come and can asses your threat level.

BRB, printing out a few fliers with this info

I am not George Zimmerman. I don't know. I don't look at people on hoodies suspiciously. I live in Toronto. Everyone wears hoodies here.

Here is my question for you.

1. Did Zimmerman think he commited a crime? Or that he just looked suspicious.
2. Did Zimmerman hold Trayvon at all?

Don't forget to refrain from resisting. Be friendly and answer all questions patiently. You need to understand that this is the attire black people wear when they commit crimes.

Where would be the fun in it if you already knew? I'm asking you which option you'd pick given your limited information and the fact that Zimmerman kept calling the cops on black males walking around the community.

I have a question for you. Since you seem to be adding nothing to this conversation, and assuming I am white.

Why do you feel Trayvon was killed?

Since we're just talking out of our ass anyway, there are white teens in this neighborhood as well right? Did they ever encounter Zimmerman at night bothering them? Odds are he had to have encountered some other teens in the area.

Quote a post where I made an assumption about your race.

Read the fucking thread, it's not hard to scroll a few pages back. In the process you might begin to realize how ridiculous and out of touch with reality you've been.

Apparently, black guys should start wearing suits in the rain.
Yeah, that's gonna help.

pretty much stole this from the daily show.

That's funny, because it's the same thing down here too.

Like i said. Zimmerman clearly deserve to be in prison. I am not arguing anything other then, I do not feel Zimmerman killed him for being black.

People in this thread said nobody is saying he was killed for being black.

Yet people are continuing to argue the race angle.

His blackness and the racially profiling of said blackness lead to his death. Right now you're being ridiculous.

So why is a black person wearing a hoodie deemed suspicious?

And no one is saying he shot him because he was black. People are saying the events that lead to the shooting were due to racial profiling.

Disengage, folks. You're not going to do anything but give yourselves a headache. Some people refuse to see anything but what they want to see, all evidence, common sense, and cultural/historical context to the contrary.

Answer my question or don't respond to me at all. Why do you feel he was killed?

I think he was killed for two reasons.

A) He attacked Zimmerman

or

b) Zimmerman has major self authority and anger issues, and it all boiled over when he confronted Trayvon.

I can't decide, because I have simply not seen enough evidence for either circumstance.

The last bit is my favorite recently. What do you mean this is a common occurrence for black people? This is a single tragedy that is not part of a larger narrative stop crying.

Just because there was a race angle doesn't mean it was a hate crime, which is what this would be if Martin was killed for being black.

I disagree that his race played no causal role in his death. Evidence reflects that race pervades the assumptions we make and conclusions we draw about people, including whether to fear them and how much we fear them.

I dunno, but seeing someone following you with a gun holstered to their belt and then being confronted by that person, as the girlfriend alleges, would constitute #2 in my book.

What? Is this really what is said? Carry in Florida does not let you have a holster on your belt, the gun can not be visible and must be concealed as Florida is not an open carry state. Other reports have said the gun was concealed on his person.

What in the fuck?

EDIT: Oh. Banned. Nvm.

Whoops, bad memory here. It was in his waistband

The two tussled on the ground, and Zimmerman took the gun from his waist and shot Martin once in the chest, according to Zimmerman's account.

Didn't you know? Trayvon Martin's death is the very FIRST instance of a black person being racially profiled and harrassed/killed, since the Civil Rights movement fixed EVERYTHING for black people!

Stop being silly, Devolution!

It's pretty sad that just because someone disagrees with a mainstream opinion that they get banned because of it. Oh well, jr mods will jr.

I don't see why people are still bringing up the hoodie thing like that doesn't have some value of criminal element. Anything that masks your appearance will make you more suspicious. Not saying it made him more suspicious in this case, or even that the kid was in the wrong in anyway, but hoodies help criminals all the time.

I guess it's the easy, "iconic" thing to point, if there were one. Skittles loses it's luster after a point.

Don't bother.. these assholes always get away

It was fucking raining. Why don't people even know the details of what happened?
