I don't know what information you have, but while it's obvious that they wouldn't have had Wii U kits when the game started development, you really think it would have taken so much additional time and resources to port a PS3/360 game to similar hardware as to prohibit the possibility of it arriving in the Wii U launch window?

Yeah, Wii U will look great sitting on the shelves with its high price tag and current gen games from last year/early this year. Resident Evil 6 was pretty much my only hope for an actual timely 3rd party blockbuster...sorry, this one hits hard.

Not that Resident Evil 6 is everything. For all we know Nintendo has even better 3rd party collaborations in the works. I know this will come off as bitter fanboydom or GAF hivemind, but if 6 is just an extension of 5, I could see myself passing on it, provided the rest of the fall lineup (for all systems which I own at least) is packed w/ must play experiences. But that's just the type of gamer I've turned into. There are so many games and so little time, that unless there's something truly unique to offer, I'm forced to merely read about it on GAF. And Xenoblade isn't helping matters atm.

I said I don't believe any Wii U game is actually making it to market until it is announced. That was more of a comment on silly NDAs than AC3 actually being canceled. I did outright say that Ubisoft making an exclusive AC game for Wii U, as people somehow inferred last E3, was impossible and not happening.
Don't project your terrible predictions on me.
Actually, a lot of "Nintendo fanatics" are "irrational and detached from reality" because of their persecution complexes, where they insist that crappy third-party support happens because those companies just "hate Nintendo."

RE:R sold like crap even when the 3DS was picking up steam. They have salted the earth for RE on Nintendo systems. They're not going to expend any more effort than is convenient.
Well this would make sense to some degree considering DD is supposedly tying up a ton of their staff. That said, if they don't at least announce a TBD port at E3 I would be a bit shocked.

Why not? Sony had been pushing for Vita to be a parallel piece of hardware to the PS3. What is on one should be on the other.
That big Japanese PS3 titles are announced and not also on Vita is alarming news that people are ignoring.

I'm not calling it that. I'm thinking they're afraid that they can't compete with Nintendo titles. They indeed can if they so choose, but that would entail putting their A-team on their Wii U projects and expending actual.. effort. That, and it's much easier to compete with MS & Sony's offerings.

I don't think publishers necessarily believe this. In pS360 they have to compete with COD for example. Competing with a first party or another third party is the same thing. The difference is, they know (or think they know) how to cater to the COD audience.

There is no reason why they can't tack on shitty, quick controller screen support and throw it on the system. I find it hard to believe they'd lose money on a port. It's a big title going into the holidays, and would be the game to have on Wii U alongside Mario and Assassin's Creed 3.

Yeah, for the same reason why you saying that a port being released now is unlikely, a port to the Wii will happen. Capcom spend alot of money making RE6, and capcom will likely want to milk that.

It's already obvious enough to all but the most deludedly optimistic fanboys that Sony has utterly failed (KojiPro excepted) in whatever attempts they've made to position Vita as an additional platform for multiplatform HD development, so RE6 not being on Vita is not exactly a newsworthy surprise.

I think it's been obvious for a loooooooooong time now that - Project Ogre aside - the PS3/360/Vita ecosystem that had been talked of last year is never going to materialize.
It's similar to the Wii situation, even though the difference isn't as big. Developers have a tech bias, and aren't going to compromise on behalf of the least powerful platform - at least when its userbase is miniscule.
(This will not work in the Wii U's favor if the PS4 and Durango are much more powerful.)

Best best is that Revelations 2 is there as an early tease for the 3DS.

It's all relative. Mario Kart Wii has sold more than Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach combined.
Edit: Either way though, the notion that third party games should be measured against the success of first party games is flawed to begin with.

Revelations bombed? That's sad to hear. I was still looking into picking that one up with my eventual 3DS purchase. I wonder what went wrong? Perhaps the the brand has been diluted too much w/ all the spinoffs. One even landed on 3DS a mere few months before. Without a number behind, is it possible it may have been written off by weary gamers? Or perhaps the time of year it was released played a factor.

And yes, that's a good question. Sometimes because Nintendo is working with the developers to get ports. THQ needs them for Darksiders II because they can't afford to advertise the game on their own and Nintendo will probably help (if THQ survives to actually release that game on Wii U, which is iffy). Nintendo probably couldn't convince Capcom to draw away from other internal resources to port RE6 to Wii U.
The Wii U is going to be way less of a reset button for developers than people think. With most generational transitions, you have the previous console to judge how a game will probably sell to that audience, launch buyers who will buy almost anything, and the ability to launch new IPs because the hardware will draw new people in even if the game design has yet to mature enough to be fun (Assassin's Creed 1, for example).
Wii U is going to be treated as the third HD console for the first year. Beyond that, it's up to Nintendo to get it new and exclusive software.
AC3 was not announced at E3.
Not to mention they revealed how the controller would work with the game. That definitely wasn't known at E3.
