That's probably true, to Nintendo, but man I hope that isn't the case. No offense to Mario Wii... but a true successor to Mario 3 would be more than I could handle.

maybe they had the idea to do SMB4 but they ended trying to re-use the same content they had with New Super Mario Bros DS, and now they registered the domain to finally use that name and continue the series

Yoshi's Story was some dumb shit the team probably regret, and Yoshi's Island DS was by Artoon (and was still good so suck it haaaaaaateeeeeerrrss). An actual EAD developed, actual Yoshi's Island game would be SWEET.
