I know you can, but just like how advertising that a phone gets amazing reception but only if you stand at a certain place at a certain time is lame, having only a dozen remote play compatible games and even less for for crossplay hardly makes this feature something worth advertising at the top of your features list.
I'm absolutely loving playing Daxter on the Vita. It looks and plays great. I haven't played it since I had a PSP-2000 several years ago and never beat it then. I don't even remember any of the stuff I've played so far so it's amazing. Such a great platformer.
I only which I could assign the camera to the right stick. Unfortunately a lot of 3D platformers for PSP set camera to the L and R buttons, which Vita does not let you assign to the right stick. Still fun, though.

The general consensus is that the downloads will continue if you let the system go to sleep by itself, and pause if you activate it yourself by pressing the power button.

eBay usually has decent bundles for barely used vitas if you don't really care about limited warranty stuff.
That was changed in the last update.
All downloads should continue even if you activate sleep mode.

i tried taking my Wifi Vita out on shopping trips and to work, only to find that nearly ALL wifi hotspots are encrypted/password locked
so much for trying to test out NEAR and looking for gaming gifts.....
so yeah, i KINDA regret not getting a 3G vita if only just for the ability to use NEAR/internet/googlemaps anywhere

It doesn't matter if you log into to those networks, the vita scans them anyways and records the location so that when you eventually sync back home it brings up all the people that have accessed those networks and you get the gifts. At least that's how I understand it,

when i try to fire up NEAR it ALWAYS asks to log onto a wifi hotspot BEFORE scanning for nearby users....are you sure?
What I noticed was that when I activated sleep mode, if the blue light on the PS button stays on then it continues downloading, but if the light is off it stops. It's a bit irritating, especially because I preloaded all my Vita stuff to my PS3 which YLOD'd just before I bought my Vita

oh yeah you don't need to even have near on, I haven't logged into another network at all but I've already gotten some gifts and it says I've traveled 18 miles. Make sure you have everything on under Location Data under your Near settings.
1.3 GB for the whole game IIRC.

Super keen for Gravity Rush. I hesitate to use that withered old catchcry, but it certainly has the hallmarks of a killer app.

If you aren't opposed to buying used, you can find some pretty nice deals on eBay or Craigslist. I got a 3G/Wifi Vita with five games and a 32GB memory card for $375 on eBay a few days ago. I'm still waiting for it to arrive but as long as everything is in working order, I'll be happy.

Just share the 3G connection with your phone using tethering. Practically any modern phone can do that nowadays.

What is the max size for a vita game cart right now?
Some people were having trouble transferring it from their PS3 to the Vita. I think it wouldn't transfer at all for some. I'm a bit hesitate to buy it right now since it might not work, so I just went ahead and grabbed the Valkyria Chronicles bundle instead.
You're currently banned, but it's 4, and soon to be 8 this summer with MGS.
Maverick Hunter X is very fun, looks nice, and it's very cheap.
I'm just now experiencing the PSP library for the first time, and the first one to win me over is Corpse Party. It's not an RPG or platformer, I'd describe it retro-styled horror adventure game, but it's super creepy and definitely a unique experience that's worth playing. Outside of Disgaea 3 and Gravity Daze, my Vita will be mostly playing PSP games this summer.
That was one of the first things I got when I bought my Vita. Love that game.

I had a fantastic time with Ys Seven. I highly recommend that.
I also purchased Ys the Oath of Felghana but honestly I haven't enjoyed it as much as Seven. It is much more difficult. I stopped playing in favor of P3P actually.
I just saw a video of it. It definitely looks... interesting lol.

Blah! My Vita came on Saturday from Amazon Warehouse. It was supposed to be in "Like New" condition, but...it looks pretty beat. Not so happy about it. I'm really not THAT picky of a person, but I did expect this to look better than the demo units at Target. That's what it resembles. I'm sending the following email to Amazon, but I don't expect much to be done:

I love you guys to death (huge Amazon fanboy), but this purchase is majorly disappointing. I am not sure if I want to actually return it, but the "Like New" description was not accurate in the least. It has scratches, fingerprints, smudges, dirt, etc.
It's almost like someone was eating a big, greasy pepperoni pizza each time they played it. The buttons needed some serious cleaning, as there was a ton of grease around that area. There's like a permanent stain spot in the middle of the buttons on the right side of the device. I don't think Jesus Himself could remove that substance. I'm not even sure he could identify it.
The triggers look like a bunch of tiny cats had a dance party all over them. It's a total scratch disco!
Oh well, I just thought I'd toss you guys an email and let you know. And maybe see what all my options are. Thanks for hearing me out.

Ugh, this reminds me of the "refurbished" PS3 I bought from GameStop. It was absolutely fucking disgusting. I couldn't believe they would charge anyone for something so wretched. Was promptly returned in exchange for a new one. I learned my lesson: unless it's factory refurbished, make a mad dash in the opposite direction.
