Wii U Speculation thread IV: Photoshop rumors and image memes

A junior? With english as a second language? Coming in here with insider info? So promising, but just bullshit.

The whole 4 Wii U controllers thing helps solidify how much bullshit this is. I don't see how they could possibly go from questioning whether or not 2 controllers could happen, all the way to "sure, you can use 4 now".

I'd be bummed if Iwata stepped-down. How he handled the 3DS situation, his longstanding demonstration of how much he "gets" the industry, his Asks interviews.. it'd be horrible.

Last time I looked...

Don't know when you last looked, so I'll guess:

#6200, Paul Gale on upcoming Wii U/3DS "crowd pleaser"

#6204, JinXing Digital S7100 android tablet, rips off Wii U DRC form factor, Playstation dpad-style, somehow emulates N64 without having enough buttons

#6208, A source suggesting console release several weeks earlier than November 28

#6217, Interview with Skylanders producer, is vaguely open to Wii U development

#6282, Wii U likely to have dedicated YouTube app

#6320, Wii U mock-up website discovered

... and thanks man.

Seems very fake. High end 6000 series? That's not even physically possible unless the size increased dramatically. (Though I would cream my pants if they put something like a 6850 in there.)

That's why it's the second worst possible level, slightly worse than the destruction of California but not as bad as Pachter being optimistic.

I still can remember this post:

Wii U Can Stream to 4 Controllers

We reported some of the Wii U’s newly released specs yesterday and now it’s emerged that the Wii U can stream graphics to 4 controllers.

According to sources close to Japanese gaming website Game Watch – translated by Nintendo World Report – the Wii GPU, supplied by AMD, has two output modes, one of which supports the streaming of up to four “SD images”.

The main reason Nintendo might not encourage this use of the Wii U is the tablets are likely to be relatively expensive for as far as gaming controllers go. They will not want to be seen as promoting that to get full use out of the Wii U you’ll need to buy 4 controllers as it would put a lot of prospective customers off.

I believe ideaman also confirmed this 2 months ago

While the gpu may be quint-head, the system can still be limited by the requirements of the transmission protocol between the Wii U's radio transceiver and the ones on the Display Remote Controllers. This could still prevent it from simultaneously streaming to four devices beyond the television screen.

Perhaps a little, but I'm guessing it will have brightness options too.

Also there might had been supply issues for the 6.7 inch screen... might... so many possibilities.
Also perhaps it was a choice for ergonomic purposes.
Considering that things get twisted from mouth to mouth, It may be a possiblity.. There source might had said a screen reduction by 1 inch, they speculated its due to costs.

September would be fantastic; I could see it selling-out to the Nintendo faithful for the first wave, and then gift-givers would go crazy in subsequent waves. It would also give Nintendo more of a head-start on the other two, putting more pressure on them to hurry their machines. This time around, I get the sense that they'll openly treat Nintendo as a competitor instead of brushing them off..

And it'd help with Darksiders as well, since they're obviously delaying their game for the Wii U.. :)

This is my thinking. Assuming the thing is ready to rock and the software's ready they just need to get it out ASAP. Dudes like us will lap it up and rant about how awesome it is to everyone so when Christmas comes, it will be a stampede.

Lets be real here. The megatons will be pikmin 3 and NSMB for Wii U, and rest will be ports of other games. That's it.
I refuse to believe.

Wii U launch a week after E3.
That's what I'm talkin about!

Regarding the rumour of a controller shrink from 5.7 to 6.2 that would seriously suck. I always thought 6.2 was a bit too small as it was.

Perhaps a little, but I'm guessing it will have brightness options too.

Brightness options are a 100% probability and these tablets are going to travel much so I don't see battery life being an issue that would lead to them going with smaller screens.

If they do it it's probably going to be ergonomic issues more than anything else.

Edit: Beaten on the ergonomics by Nilaul

Sadly, I don't see it happenng, as much as we'd love it..

I don't see why only 2 is so bad. You can Co-op Pikmin 3.

And I was under the impression that the whole industry save Nintendo regarded local multiplayer as dead anyways.

When people started moaning and bitching during E3 about no 4 controller support I was quite surprised.

4 video streams won't happen.
2 is likely, though.

I guess it all depends on what tech they use. They may be able to support 4 at 30fps if they're aiming already for 2 @ 60. We just don't know.

That said, I think 4 is really really just icing on the cake and is a very niche market. 2 however seems pretty obvious.

They weren't dummies, and why show that box at all if the final one is going to 2-3x as big?

There was a photo showing the back, a while ago with a label stuck on it "dummie".

Perhaps that was there target size but with heat tests and input from developers wanting a bit more power they had to make it larger.
I dont think its going to be an AMD Radeion 6000 high end, but it may be one of the AMD Radeion in 6000 series .Considering what was was rumoured before had comments saying its has heat issues, spending on R&D to fix that might had offset the cost of choosing something better.

So In concluusion... we don't know anything.

RE: Streaming to 4 controllers. I'm sure somebody in one of the previous threads suggested how it could be done feasibly. The Wii U send outs one video feed, which is four times the resolution of one pad, or less if necessary, and each pad displays only the quarter of the image which is necessary. This would eliminate the need to send out four separate signals. I don't remember if this theory was debunked, however.

Again, the article is completely made up. It says so right at the top. It's all just a bunch of guesses; there are no sources outside of the author's own skull.

We’re quickly approaching E3. In fact, the convention is only a month and a couple weeks away. Nintendo has already confirmed that they will be blowing the lid off of the Wii U this year and unveiling what I’m sure will be a mind blowing amount of information. Since last year, a flood of rumors from analysts, not-so-subtle developers, and insiders have filled our minds with glorious and damning thoughts of what is in store for us from the Big N. Take everything that we’ve heard, I’ve come up with what I believe to be what is going to be revealed this June. The Wii U is in for some changes.

Not saying it isn't interesting or that it isn't worthy of discussion, but let's at least keep this in mind.

It's not about the rendering needed.
The GPU and CPU would easily be able to handle that.
It's about the wireless signal that would have to go out.
4 different high quality wireless signals bouncing around... It would not be pretty.

That would solve for display, but not input and return.

If it launches in October in Europe - maybe my dream will come true and Sega will put Football Manager on the Wii U, playable on the Pad.

Killer App right there!

Agree. There's a bit of a difference, but it's pretty low on the processing priority wishlist.

Either way battery life still has to be enough to satisfy an all day playthrough... so that it can be charged at night.

I never saw that on the photo, and I'm pretty sure lherre said that the dev kits are that size.

I realise that but if it was running at 30fps it means the bandwidth wouldn't be as heavy as if they were going 60. Basically, all things equal (And they aren't there overhead, interference etc) they can get the same data @30 on 4 pads as 60 on 2.

But like I said, it all depends on the tech they are using and whether that's even possible.

My Mx11 could be a dev kit, and that has some serious power. Size isnt really an issue, heat is.

It was another photo; im sure it was posted here. Anyone can help me out? :P

What would the implications of the a change to the AMD Radeion 6000 series have, if it was done it was done early in developement, but if it was done later?

If Wii U gets Lost Kingdoms III it will be the console of forever. Honestly From give me Lost Kingdoms III and you will have all of my money.
Wii U is perfect for the Lost Kingdoms series.
EDIT: ARGH Last post, no one will see how passionate I am for LK ):

Yes, I know that heat is the issue. I also know that your M11x is much lower end than it's advertised as. The CPU is weak as fuck and the GPU isn't impressive either. It's kinda impressive that they got that GPU in there, but not mind blowing or anything.

Are you guys aware of how far away the wii-u release is. It's only mid-april. It's not gonna come till mid november. That's like half a year away.

You're all welcome.

Thats my point, its impressive that they could squize in that, and thats probably a small team working on this. What happens when you have a really large team?

P.S. I just really wanted a small 11 inch laptop, for portable work. Considering I got the souped up verson for a mere 900 euros.... its a good price... life with no VAT rules :P

Nevermind, I might be getting my self another 11 inch laptop which do you recomend? Since my sister needs one, I might give this one to her If theres something more powerful, and then buy myself the more powerful.
