I'll be the designated sports nintendogaf writer about any sports game rumors + ill write some wii u remote usage with sports games articles.

I sent a PM to Evilore about the domain. Hopefully I am not gone tomorrow. :(

if you tell him it was a group thing and not your own personal ambition I am sure he would be for it...

still I would not mind seeing Neo-Gaf having its own real news section run buy trusted posters of Neo-Gaf

I basically said that we are intending to use it as a supplemental fansite, and that we'd make it clear that we aren't officially affiliated with NeoGAF.

The Halo community here has their own site with the GAF suffix. (Not sure if he knows about it though)

People are always coming into this thread asking what they missed. A website would give us a way to consolidate all the latest information/rumors from here into one spot. It would basically be doing what IGN used to when Matt was still around. We wouldn't be repeating old debunked crap from ages ago, either, which is what the bulk of the gaming press is doing. I dunno, I think it could work.

The site could also be used to cover smaller games that the normal gaming press would normally have ignored infavor of higher releases.

You guys are nuts.

But I'll keep tabs on this weird project that's cooking in the offhand chance you do somehow make a site. I've always wanted to write occasional editorial pieces about the industry and maybe I'd have an in :-P

will a gaf-spinoff give me a pass to E3 :3?

now I am so tempted to relaunch Nintendium.com
that damn thing was sucking money out of me :(

hurry up with some real news Nintendo!

I would love to contribute to any NintendoGaf site. I don't post much in this thread but have read every single one and absolutely love all the chat in here.

I can contribute in a writing capacity. I've written for a number of blogs in the past and currently contribute to one or two, but my gaming tastes are heavily leaned towards Nintendo these days so the chance to write for a Nintendo centric site would be absolutely brilliant.

I'm always open to PM's if anyone organising this wants to get in touch. Can provide samples of previous articles etc etc on request.

Instead of a site why don't you guys make a podcast!
Wii U Podcas I: Hours of Mindless chatting and Info-lacking FUN*!

Hey, you do realise... Nintendo will start development of their next console in a few months. Time to speculate!!! Actually, how bout a new thread?!

WiiU2 Speculation Thread: 2000 days and 2000 nights... of insanity and suffering

Bet it'll only be on par with PS4 and 720. Or 2 Gamecubes, 1.5 WiiU's and a Casio watch.

The site could also be used to cover smaller games that the normal gaming press would normally have ignored infavor of higher releases.

Definitely, I'd love that. I'd also love a site that isn't written solely by perpetually jaded morons. Or people who won't criticize games for fear that they'll lose exclusive scoops from publishers.

The Nintendo site is a neat idea. I would be willing to help, I have a wordpress gaming blog for news/rumors, it got a lot of compliments, so now I'm working on turning it into a full site. I also was going to be the american writer of xboxygen.com, the French Xbox related site that gets sourced a decent amount, but I backed out because it was difficult to get on the same page with who was reporting what.

I also have been doing podcasts with my brother off and on as we have been trying to podcast any event that might have gaming news, so I do have experience with this type of thing. If you guys are going through with it and need an extra writer, or some help, PM me.

Is it still expected that the Wii U will only support one of its controllers? That is utterly ridiculous and undercuts the potential for many good uses of a tablet controller for local multiplayer...

I'd be happy to contribute to the site (time allowing) in any way I can.

Yup.
This plus lackluster online services would be the biggest flaws of the WiiU, even if underpowered. Local multi was the reason the Wii was so big. It is something you can't really replicate with a phone or portable.

From what we've heard, 3rd party developers are at least experimenting with using more than one.* It's unknown whether or not Nintendo will sell the controllers separately, though.

* = I'm reading between the lines of IdeaMan's recent posts, here.

If I remember correctly, they are still aiming at doing it to work with two tablets (and four wiimotes+).

When rumors of the "Nintendo Stream" first started going around I remember a lot of talk about how a big feature would be to play your game without using the tv. But if games are going to use the 2nd screen in inventive ways doesn't that mean those games won't be able to be played on the upad alone?

If so that kind of kills one of the main draws of the system for me.

It's completely up to the developers how they wish to use the controller screen. If they want to make the TV a requirement (dual-screen play), they can do so. I'm expecting multiplatform titles to just revert to how they are played on other systems when using the controller alone.
