I have 3 promo code to give away.

In order to claim one of those codes, due to (un)popular demand, please quote this sentence and only this sentence and not my whole post relating to Flick Kick Ireland, and certainly not the screenshots depicting Flick Kick Ireland because some people are apparently offended or otherwise inconvenienced when they see the same image over and over in a thread, and that certainly isn't what we want when launching Flick Kick Ireland, so make sure to just quote this sentence and only this sentence, but also include in your post an image of the much more modest and hopefully more palatable Flick Kick Ireland app icon which you can probably link from the Flick Kick Ireland page from itunes.apple.com, and also somewhere mention the name of your favourite Irish person with whom you would like to play Flick Kick Ireland.
I already own Flick Kick Football and I love it, so I don't need a code for this. Thanks though.

So does that mean the other iterations will appear all 3D-ish and stuff like the Ireland one? Because truth be told, I kinda dig the whole 60s/70s look of the original one. But also of the new Ireland one (going by the screens, anyway).

The branded versions have been a more "realistic" look out of necessity.

The tentative sequel of sorts for Flick Kick Football we have in preproduction will retain the retro look.

The Flick Kick Football update is just upresing everything, putting in more content and unlocks, weather effects etc.

Sweet. For a buck, it's bought.

Last one: With the branded versions, are there any differences between them? If so, which one is the one to get?

Whoooaaaa been playing Ballistic for a bit longer here... I have to give it more time for the final verdict but goddamn it this game is good and it gets REALLY crazy. Infinity Field on Insane Mode is one of my absolute favorite things on iOS but I think Ballistic might just beat both the Infinity Field and Beat Hazard Ultra experiences for me. So slick, so well done, so gorgeous and it's really pure and hardcore gameplay-wise, loving the learning curve and the progression. I posted before saying it might not be as over-the-top as Infinity Field, scrap that, game gets really nuts at around wave 24.

edit: glorious, just glorious

Pretty much the same quality of content and feature set across all of them, so it comes down to personal preference in terms of the team(s) you support. All of them except Flick Kick Ireland will be currently $1.99 though.

The trivia quizzes and appearance are the points of difference. Just go with the one you like the look of, if you're not a supporter of a side concerned.

I find that I keep going back to the original, myself. I love the comicbook look from my childhood. Naturally I have them all though, because I'm horribly biased and support the PikPok FC all the way :)

actually, Trade Nations is pretty generous with magic beans these days, they made it harder to waste them and you usually get a free one at the beginning of the game from watching those videos.

I'm level 57 in Trade Nations, it started out a bit slow but you really don't need magic beans for anything (I never purchased any, I even wasted a few back before they added confirmation screens) and I got enough free beans to buy a windmill, a few premium items. With the frontier area now you get resources pretty quickly too.

The only time you really need magic beans is to buy the final fort upgrade in the Frontier area, since you really need one of the premium storehouses to hold all the resources required.

It's not the most interesting time management game out there but I guess the fact that I've been playing it since the ipad 2 launch is saying something.

While we're on the subject, WTF is wrong with the scale of the economy in Snoopy's Street Fair? Why the hell are children buying 5 million dollar nacho carts?

i don't get too many videos for free beans, maybe one a day if im lucky, but something free is better than nothing. theres also the daily bonus beans. also, if your too cheap to spend money on beans (like me), tapjoy is great. i didn't know tade nations supported tapjoy until i signed up for another game. you can easily put together 40-50 beans by downloading some apps real quick, more if your willing to stalk the promos. i've built up a fair amount of pay items using it. promos restock often.

now, snoopy's street fair... i love the game because of its theme and i think its well enough put together, nostalgia factor <3<3<3. prices are screwed, i still don't understand the crazy pricing. people like seeing big numbers? there isn't much content for a free player of the game once you move up in level. they want to make you work for the free content. theres only two peanuts booths you can buy with coin after level 11, i think both are something like 1.6m and 2m+. it gets depressing saving up coin for two booths and unlocking pay booths every level until you reach max level T____T

once you get enough of the high paying booths up, you can book about 200k-300k a day around level 13 without playing much. once you save up to afford a few million dollar boths, the game speeds up with gaining money.

they've made the game a bit more balanced with recent updates, some boths give higher payouts depending on your level. their also starting to get more generous with giveaways. the spring sale event was awesome, i was actually able to buy items of usefulness with the pay currency i've saved up...

Agreed on Ballistic SE ... great frantic action that always leads into one just one more try.

Check out Fireball SE by the same dev.
Some really top notch arcade gaming from these guys.

I don't even usually like shooters, but am now buying their stuff blind after falling in love w/ Fireball.

Ahhhh. Well now I have both the original (I do love those cutouts) and the Ireland one. Hopefully it's full of facts like "The Irish invented screen doors on submarines" and "An Irishman once burned his lips when trying to blow up a bus".

A sequel? Damn, new addiction inc. Flick Kick Football is easily one of the best games I've bought for my iPhone.

Fuck ClashMob in Infinity Blade 2. I qualified for several mobs days ago but when I took a look it didn't recognize it. Missed out on a rare prize wheel and the Helio Armour.

So guys, what should I buy: Jet Car Stunts or Anomaly Warzone Earth?
The latter, IMO.

Also, how is Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer? I want a game similar to this that I can play on the same iPad with my girlfriend, already have the Assassins Creed game, and honestly don't intend on playing more than 1 right now as we've never really played a card game before, but since it's on offer it's rather tempting...

Ascension is a great great game. Very quick to play through, async multiplayer with notifications online, good mix of planning and reactive strategies to the cards presented.

My go-to game on the iPad at the moment since it's so easy to just drop in and play the AI or catch up on all the async games I play with other GAFers.

Got a little over 10 miles yesterday in Classic for Zombie Highway, but it's not showing up on the leaderboards. Still showing my 7-mile score. Anyone know if there's a way to upload the score manually to GC?

Codes claimed. Will PM.

Flick Kick USA...you know you guys want to do it!

Awesome. I love seeing the licensed versions of these. If I didn't already own the original and the licensed one of my beloved Aston Villa Football Club, I'd buy this one. Fuck, I still may :)

Thanks Rubx :) Does it have multiplayer from one iPad though?

you can pass & play for up to 4 players on a single iPad or iPhone, yes. Also highly recommend Ascension. My only complaint is they seem a bit slow with getting expansions out, but it's understandable since this dev team (PlayDek) also is doing a number of other games. Very high quality stuff IMO, although if you aren't already familiar with the physical game, there can be a bit of a learning curve.

Shame it (like all card games) is unplayable on the iphone, unless you know the decks off by heart and don't need to zoom constantly. :(

Many thanks, neither of us have ever played a card/deck game in our lives, you think it could be worth trying something a little lighter/more accessible first?

I'd like to play it with Robbie Keane, just to see how many different teams I could get him to say were his favourite teams...

Late? Probably...

Kingdom Rush retina update looks the same to me...but it looked fine on the iPad 3 before anyways.

Anyone know how the Heroes work in the new update now though.

Ascension is about as accessible as it gets, without risking straying into something that will either get boring very quickly or be too light on content.

here's the physical rules:
http://www.ascensiongame.com/howtoplay

yeah, it helps to skim the rules and play a few practice games first, but it really is pretty accessible. There's only a couple resources to worry about, you can only do so much on a turn...really the hardest thing about the game to pick up is the deckbuilding mechanics, which you'll understand within your first 5 turns.

What is TapJoy? Does it work with more than one city building/time management game?

I definitely agree with you about Snoopy, as I mentioned I really don't understand why a children's street fair should generate upwards of several million dollars a day, lol. I haven't bought any IAP currency in that game (nor have I in any of the time management games I own), although by saving the free bucks and waiting for sales I've acquired a decent number of the premium characters.

IMO that's one of my biggest problems with Snoopy's Street Fair, that you need IAP currency to buy the actual Peanuts characters, but it's not nearly as bad as Smurf's Village (which I used to play but have since deleted, since I hate games with withering crops).

Other than that I still play Tiny Village (on my phone, it's decent). I used to play the Oregon Trail one and Fantasy Town (both made by gameloft iirc) and I wasn't that big of a fan of the whole stamina system so I deleted both. Fantasy Town could have been really neat, but I had a hard time understanding exactly what to build and where.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, if you're at all a city building/time management fan and own an iPad, Tribez HD is really amazing. It's pretty typical as far as resource gathering and building upgrading goes, but it adds a lot of long-term goals with the inclusion of an actual story, missions, and 2 additional islands you can eventually branch out to. Oh and you really don't need gems, and your crops don't wither.

I'm usually pretty skeptical of games in the genre but Tribez is definitely one of the best I've played in recent memory.

Many thanks all, just bought Ascension :D

when you feel up to it you can mosey on over to the iOS Online Boardgaming Megathread (Carcassone, Ascension, & Many More).

check the spread sheet linked in the first post there for a bevy of GAFfers to challenge.

and since you'll want to ask soon :
yes the Return of the Fallen expansion IAP is worth it.

it increases the card set by 65% and adds a wide variety of options to the base game.
highly recommended buy as soon as you confirm you in fact do enjoy the game.

Tribez is actually pretty fun. Much better than Virtual Villagers.

I like games that limit the amount of time you can play (with in-game mechanics). It's kind of nice to log into a game and play everyday for 30-40 minutes. At the same time, you don't get punished if you don't play it for a week or so.

I can't believe it's free. I would have paid a buck or two for it.

Anyone remember the trademark debacle over "Tower Defense" a few years ago?

http://www.pocketgamer.biz/r/PG.Biz/Com2uS+news/news.asp?c=17997

Com2uS had been awarded the trademark to "Tower Defense" and started enforcing it:

For someone so obsessed with protecting what's theirs, I find the following movie kinda funny. It might be a coincidence, but it's also possible that the music in Tower Defense: Lost Earth is partly stolen from the porn movie Wife Swapping and I made a clip to show it. It should be noted that while the clip doesn't show anything, it is highly suggestive:

Coincidence or plagiarism?

I haven't tried the heroes yet either. It looked like you have to reallocate your stars to activate them which I didn't want to do last night.

More likely taken from the same royalty free source.

Samurai Bloodshow is down to $0.99 today as well.

That, Kingdom Rush and Anamoly Warzone will be mine when I get home. $4 for all of them on iPad. I love iOS deals.
