Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

That sounds pretty terrifying. I haven't ever heard of anything like this in real life (I've seen creepy characters with black eyes in TV shows like Supernatural), but frozen in time with the eyes and mouth black? That's a new one. I wonder if he was hallucinating. Are there more stories like this?
There's a couple of links to more stories in the bottom right of the page I linked too. This is also a good place to read stories of Black Eyed kids/people: http://paranormal.about.com/od/humanenigmas/a/aa090406.htm

I've read some really creepy ones involving kids, but this one was pretty over the top (no offense to you, of course :)).
None taken. ;)

It's weird how they do the whole "Let me in" thing. What the fuck?

Let me in to the house or into your motherfucking soul? Jeez.

Yeah that's the freaky part, mang. Deep down you know part of you would want to say yes.
Yeah, they almost seem like vampires in that sense. They want/need to be invited in, and they almost seem to "glamour" you into convincing them to do so.

Seems like these stories started with a report by a journalist named Brian Bethel: http://www.theblackvault.com/wiki/index.php/Black_Eyed_Kids

Urban legends referring to Black Eyed Kids began to appear in 1998, starting with a newsgroup posting by journalist Brian Bethel reporting of a meeting with two unusually confident and eloquent children who attempted to talk him into giving them a ride in his car. Bethel said in his post that he nearly opened the door to admit the children, even though he found them vaguely unsettling, until he realized that their eyes were completely black, with no iris or pupil. He reports that, as soon as he realized this, the children became angry and insistent, and he drove away quickly. His posting implies that the children may have been using some form of low-level mind control to induce him to open the car, perhaps a form of neurolinguistic programming judging by what is reported of their speech patterns and diction.

Again, who really knows if it's true or not. But some of the stories I've read are downright creepy. :0

aren't those black eyed kids stories just more modern creepypastas?

and that Brian Bethel guy is a spiritual/paranormal column writer for an online newspaper, looks like. so..there's that.

And alien abductees generally aren't supposed to be able to remember anything. According the the old stories, only hypnosis can bring the memories back to the surface. The classic story, someone sees a ufo, notices something strange, and then they zone out for a bit, and go on about their lives, only later realizing that they're like an hour late for whatever they were going to. Missing time and all that, with no memory of what happened during, etc.

vv I was just thinking that. If they were cute, I would invite them in of course.

I just learned about the BEKs earlier in the Portland vs. Seattle thread and went on to read some stories on the internet. Glad I read this shit after sunrise. :lol

The ones about kids asking to be let in is some freaky shit, but the ones about the open black mouths and screaming/ultra-fast movement are just dumb.

Sure, but the stories started skyrocketing when it became 'popular'. Over here in Belgium, we don't really have any alien/mythical/supernatural mythos going on, and stuff like alien abductions or ghost sightings just seem to hardly happen here at all.

im belgian too bro
google/bing belgian triangle ufo wave

the belgian triangles incident is world famous :)

True, I heard about that, though it predates me three years or something. :lol

My sister and I saw something similar when I was seven years old, though. Probably military planes warped by my memory.

Still though, only one big UFO incident isn't all that much. And we don't have anything that's really unique to us, either.

Now that's weird.

The mom didn't have that paranoid ominous feeling like all the other people? Though that would creepily explain why there's almost no stories of what happens when you let "them" in.

Sweet lord, just reading the comments in this thread about black eyed kids is freaking me out.

I'm to scared to even click and read the links! It's way too late for me to do this before my bedtime for my chicken little ass.

This thread is extremely interesting but there's no way in hell I'm reading any more than I already have this late at night.
*shudder*

Was there anyone else on the parking lot? If I had been in your shoes, I'd probably have been pointing it out to people and asking if they saw it, too. :lol

I was all the way in the back, no other people around. They probably would of just thought I was crazy anyway :P

BUT, I did find a video! It's not from when I saw them, but someone else in the same state as me recorded something similar a few weeks ago. Here it is if anyone knows what they are.

The "Wow! Signal"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_signal

The Wow! signal was a strong narrowband radio signal detected by Dr. Jerry R. Ehman on August 15, 1977, while working on a SETI project at the Big Ear radio telescope of The Ohio State University then located at Ohio Wesleyan University's Perkins Observatory, Delaware, Ohio.[1] The signal bore expected hallmarks of potential non-terrestrial and non-Solar System origin. It lasted for the full 72-second duration that Big Ear observed it, but has not been detected again.

800px-Wow_signal_location.jpg

The location of the signal in the constellation Sagittarius, near the Chi Sagittarii star group. Because of the design of the experiment, the location may lie in either one of the two red bands, and there is also significant uncertainty in the declination (vertical axis). For clarity, the widths of the red bands are not drawn to scale; they should actually be narrower.

Perhaps a long (long) distance "hello"? (or S.O.S?)

I'll have to listen to that tomorrow.

Anyone here ever listen to Coast to Coast? Is it any good?

Coast to Coast was better in the past obviously. But I still listen from time to time. It is very hit and miss. But of course the more believable stories and callers can be...a bit hard to get through:) I called once years ago and told my story. The one thing that I liked is they didn't give me the shit that many others have done. It was nice to just tell the story with an open mic. Sadly crazies can call in and do the same. Again you have to wade through the bad to get the good.

I have always wondered about the signal and the possibility that perhaps it was indeed something of alien origin but they communicate in a different style or send out patterns differently. The sad thing is as humans we only look for signals of a kind that we ourselves would send. How is to say if an incredible old alien race sent data in very long intervals or other such time related situations. Then you of course have all the problems with lensing and such though many of those have been almost 100% debunked. Almost 100% because it just can't be ruled out. Just like a terrestrial bounce or other issue.

Reading about the Arecibo message just blows me away, too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arecibo_message

Because it will take 25,000 years for the message to reach its intended destination of stars (and an additional 25,000 years for any reply), the Arecibo message was more a demonstration of human technological achievement than a real attempt to enter into a conversation with extraterrestrials. In fact, the stars of M13 that the message was aimed at will no longer be in that location when the message arrives.

Lost in translation after 25,000 years. A simple "hello" and "this is what our planet is like" will eventually translate to "fuck off, come have a taste!" :p

Ya the distances are well...astronomical and obviously the main issue is indeed location when talking about those distances and times. When things move like that, what we aim for is not even in the same fucking quadrant as it was when we sent it. Strange stuff really. Sad a bit too:(

For me, i dont have too many stories, but two of them.

When i was younger, my uncle was robbed in front of his apartment and killed from the gunshot. Muggers were never caught. When we went to move his things out of his apartment, there was a cat just sitting in the doorway, just watching us. Normally this wouldnt be anything spectacular, as strays walked in from outside frequently. What made it strange was the cat had a white stripe of fur right over its eye on its forehead, the exact same spot my uncle had a patch of white hair on his head. The cat never moved from that doorway, but just kept looking at us go in and out of the apartment. After we were done moving everything out, the cat disappeared.

My aunt was moving into a new house and we were moving some stuff around the house from the previous owner. We were upstairs and heard crying, and thought it was my younger brother (who was an infant at this time), we get downstairs, and he is fast asleep. I go to the basement and still hear the crying, very faintly. When i get down there, it was gone. Months later after we settled in all sorts of random noises are around the house. We sometimes hear children playing or laughing, and occasionally still hear the crying in the basement. We contacted the previous owner of the house (elderly man in his 80s) and he told us that two of his children died in the house, one was an male infant, and the older one was his 10 year old daughter. Funny enough we still hear them around the house (she has been living there for close to 20 years now). We are all used to it. It isnt even creepy or scary, just spirits in the house. No missing items, broken items, or shifting furniture. They are a part of the house now.

A creepy memory that came back to me as I was helping my wife organize Christmas decorations in the attic (as per our spring cleaning):

My grandparents had one of those big basements with a fairly long stairway to the bottom (or maybe it only seemed long because I was a kid?). Of course the damn light fixture for the main part of the basement required a person to go all the way down, in the dark, and feel around one of the walls a bit. It's like whoever designed it did so with the sole sadistic intent for some kid having to face his/her basement fears. :p Ridiculous.

Keep in mind, this big house would be used for many in the community to host wakes in the large visiting room in the early 1920s through the '40s. This basement is where the owner of the house/business would 'prep' the bodies for viewing, which naturally magnified the creepiness for all of us grandkids. For those wondering, my grandfather converted that section of the house into his dentistry practice in the late 50’s. The basement became your typical storage labyrinth.

Anyway, my grandparents had these bizarre, custom-made "children" animatronics made for their Christmas decorations. They would go all out for Christmas and use these little fancy kids as their door greeters for parties and what-not. They looked like little kids out of Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol', i.e. fancy, mid-1800’s clothing, rosy-cheeks, glassy, soulless eyes, etc. The boy would tip his hat and turn his head and waist. The girl would slightly bow while lifting her velvet dress ever-so slightly. They were creepy even in broad daylight. I guess surrounded by golden Christmas lights and snow they were more charming…?

I recall one summer when I had to go down there to get a box for my grandmother. I turn the corner to flip the light on. It’s dark, but it doesn’t take my eyes very long to adjust. It also helps that the late afternoon summer light from one of the tiny, weather-stained windows is faintly illuminating a small area of the basement. I stop in my tracks. I see the little girl doll, frozen just pre-bow, standing in this dark corner of the room, staring through the darkness right at me, one of her little glass eyes missing. The little boy was nowhere to be found, which really messed with me because my grandparents always kept them together, in the back, covered in plastic. I could see both plastic bags about a foot away from the girl.

I heard a faint footsteps deeper into the basement and just said "nope", turned, and went right back up the stairs. I believe I even walked right out the front door and down the street just to be out in the daylight, hahaha.

Getting goosebumps remembering it in my mind, even after knowing what was going on.
Apparently my grandfather was in his work room doing some touch-up work on them for the upcoming holiday season. He had to take one of the girl's eyes out to find a match at a local hardware shop. He was working on the boy first and just didn't have a chance to come back for the girl yet. Or so they tell me......................... to cover up the horrible truth of the dead souls long trapped in the basement that have now taken residence inside the children, MWAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... :D

Mind pointing out some of the apps? I wouldn't mind listening to this while I'm at work.

The ones I use on android are Streamfurious, Iheartradio and Cherry Rplayer. Stations I listened to were "The Very Best of Art Bell (U7Radio.org)" "Funklbaldy 41" and "Coastgab" but I think Coastgab stopped streaming C2C a while back. I'm not even sure how I added these stations originally, but I think this thread helped me find some affiliates that played the show -- http://androidforums.com/droid-support-troubleshooting/20421-how-do-i-listen-coast-coast-am.html

edit: okay, under Streamfurious all you have to do is pull up the menu and search for more stations under shoutcast, and then on shoutcast just search for the very best of art bell. you should be able to add it to your favorites with that. Probably the same with cherryrplayer

edit2: nevermind, forget those programs. use xiaa lite instead, those other ones are messing up for me on my new phone. you can just navigate to u7radio.org and press & hold on the link and choose "open in a new window/tab" and a window will come up that asks what program you want to use to open the stream. you can try using streamfurious or cherryrplayer, but they aren't working for me right now. the only thing that works is xiaa. Alternatively you can use winamp, you can search for shoutcast streams easily. Just search for "art bell" and a bunch of streams should come up. tunein is another app that apparently works, but I haven't tried it yet because it didn't come up in the context menu along with xiaa

You can probably also just not listen without even using any app...your device might just play the stream in-browser from the u7radio.org link

I remember reading a story about an Australian trucker calling into a radio show who talks about encountering some kind of monster while driving through a stretch of barren Outback. He talks about being taken by the monster into a cave with a bunch of pale legs hanging from the cave roof. My eyes are watering just thinking about it. Anyone have a link to the audio? I can't seem to find it.

Wasn't that the Pilliga Princess story? I think the truck driver's name was Bongo and he had been left in an insane asylum since whatever happened to him?

I think the interview is here:
