Show us your gaming setup: 2012 Edition

And no, I do not have an HD console.

That's not a hard drive, it's the HD-DVD drive they offered before they binned it when Blu-Ray won the format war.

I still have my HD-DVD player as well. I can get movies for dirt cheap and they are the same quality as Blu-ray. I picked up Planet Earth for only $5. Also, there are still a lot of movies not on Blu-ray that are on HD-DVD.

vicissitudes,
I like how you have the same motivational poster as that guy from how I met your mother, and the show how I met your mother on your TV.

Nice.

Edit: LOL at post above this.

Neat house, I like the decor but its a bit too cold and robotic to me. Looks like my local Ikea show room and not some place I'd want to live in. Sounds like you like it, which is all that matters.

Congrats on the new place.

Man, sometimes my heart skips a beat when i check this and the "pick-up" thread. You guys must make a shitload of money! I make enough to buy games and a TV and stuff, but you guys buy insane apartments with awesome furniture and cars...

Pics of the new place:

Don't listen to anyone else, that place is AWESOME for a couple reasons

- Awesome use of Arcos Lamp.
- Very clean black / white colour scheme balance with green thrown in from the plants.
- The exact TV I plan to get this year. Props.
- Beautiful windows and curtains to really give the place some fresh natural light.
- Barney STINSON IS THE MAN. Amazing use of his motivational posters. Anyone who is a bro between the ages of 25 and 35 will highly appreciate this decor.

Only issue I have is that legos thing is a bit too much.

I posted these pics of my gaming setup/collection on CAG the other day so I figured I'd share them here as well:

where did you get your shelves because this just isnt happening for me

my racks are full and so is my crappy shelf

Due to an impending move to a new house which will have two living areas, I needed another TV. So my 46" XBR has been relegated to second place and a new 55" GT30 has just taken over prime place in my AV set up. You can see the Sony sat sulking on the floor, shortly before it was shipped off to the spare room.

Impressive collection.

The basement

Awesome.

I would put the desk against the couch, so you can can watch tv while you're on the computer and/or not annoy the person watching tv, with reflections of your monitor.

And center your tv on that cabinet.
If it's then too much to the right (to watch from the couch), move the cabinet a bit to the left.

Haha thanks. I haven't even unpacked all my legos yet.

Speaking of which, I built a lego version of the place:

You have some great stuff - I've enjoyed a lot of your posts in the pickup thread! :)

As for the shelves, I initially found out about them in a Sky Mall catalog when I was flying home from Japan.
The shelving unit is called a "76" Tall Triple Media Storage Tower".
I searched around online and the best price I was able to find was here:

http://www.bedbathstore.com/tatrmestto.html?id=tatrmestto1

The shelves are pricey, but there is free shipping and no tax (well, there wasn't for me in IL) plus if you search around a bit, you may be able to find a $20 off code online.

*EDIT* Found one! Use "MYC20" to get $20 off! :)

Also, you earn points on the website so you'd be able to use them towards another shelf (or anything else on the site) later on.
I earned enough for a $50 voucher from the 2 shelves I bought so I'll probably use them towards another shelf for my living room later this year.

Don't listen to this. Design over functionality in this case. It would look horrible like this.

Ehh... look horrible for forum setup pictures but would be better for sitting down and watching TV.

Either way, vicissitudes, you have a really nice setup.

Not for entertaining company. Lowers the impression and doesn't give any room behind the couch for people to stand while talking.

Terrible advice.

I agree that it won't give room for guests.

But when he's by himself, I don't see a problem with it. Not saying that I would do it but overall I understand where others are coming from.

Hey GAF! I guess it's time for me to show you all my gaming set up! I am currently renting a room and this is where I game! I got some more nintendo games at home, but I am currently going through my third run of Mario N64!

Jealous of all these great setups, mine at the moment is pretty lackluster.

Im hoping to redo my room this summer though.

keeping it real
the lack of Diddly Kong Racing is kinda disturbing though.

It's really not that expensive. Well a setup like Chitta's is as he has expensive design furniture, but you can get a really nice setup by spending less than a couple grand at Ikea. Get an Ikea credit card and 12 month no interest to pay it off within the 12 months.
