If Coach Taylor is in Philly how the hell does Riggins fit into this equation? 5 minutes running time at most for that dude.

Oh and yes, can't wait. Wanted this so much more than an AD movie.

How was the soundtrack for the TV show? Moody instrumentals? I never watched it but Explosions did such an amazing job in the movie. I guess I should search Youtube.

I have the second volume and it's like Texas country pop with some alternative/indie and then the theme music.

Mostly like that yeah. Plus stunning licensed music choices.

Just watch it.

Texas Forever!

Battleship needs to be a monster so Berg, Kitsch, and Landry are all Big Deals to have in a movie. They can then use all that power to get this movie made.
Which will be fantastic and critically acclaimed, but nobody will go see because people have terrible taste.

Yeah, I've been meaning to since everyone told me it was pretty dang good. Been keeping an eye on Amazon to see if I could pick the seasons up on Blu-ray for cheap. Anyways, I loved the movie so a new one is definitely right up my alley.

It's fantastic, and if you loved the EitS tracks in the film, you will not be disappointed in the series, in any case, as EitS is utilized in the series quite a bit throughout the duration of it's run.

25 minutes of amazing plot development. 1 hour and 15 minutes of high school drama and nonsense that makes my brain bleed.

Yes I'm mad. Watching the first two seasons of this show was tough, when it was good it was fantastic, but Jesus I couldn't stand the teeny love triangles and shit. The highs were good enough to let me know that I was likely missing out on something great, the lows were low enough for me to say "Fuck it, Ill just miss out".

There hasn't been a blu-ray release :(

Shit, I just watched it and I want to start the series again. So amazing.

They need to have (spoilers for series)
SMASH WILLIAMS BABY come back for a cameo in the movie. Can't believe he was not in the final season

The proposed storyline has me excited because pretty much every character in the TV series would show up to
show their support for a Coach Taylor accused of mistreating a player. Hell, even JD McCoy could show up on the side of evil if they wanted. Smash owes the man, Street owes the man, Riggins owes the man, Saracen owes the man... everyone could show up whereever the movie takes place, because he was Just That Important.

This is how this news makes me feel

But I have no one to chest bump with, because this show is criminally underwatched in my circle of friends.

I'm to figure out how they will make a movie, based off a tv show, based off a movie from 2004, based on a book...

The book/first movie aren't apart of this at all, really. Show did everything the movie did, better. Wasn't as gritty in the end, though.

Yeah, I really liked the show, but it's really hard to deny that it was a severely flawed program with offsetting highs and lows rather than consistent greatness (this is also why calling it better than The Wire is particularly silly). That said, the show benefited enormously when they cut down to 13 episodes in seasons 3-5, so they could just focus on the core plot and less on the filler crap that dominated seasons 1-2.

The transition to season 3 was a little rough because of the strike, I guess, but once they got back into the groove it pretty extraordinary from there on out. There were a few plot points I found a little frustrating still, but overall it was probably the best show on TV for those three years.

I don't see how you can totally separate them when they were both really created by the same guy.

Their separate in terms of story/cast/characters etc. It's a pretty clear separation.

I think the show mentions the city of Odessa once, off hand.

As much as I love the show...do we really need one?
It's one of the few series that ended quite perfectly.
One of the best since The Wire.
