I didn't get the Spidey trailer. I had:

Brave: Crowd was still rowdy from before the reel started. Barely paid attention.
Frankenweenie: Silence.
The Dark Knight Rises: Someone yelled out "Everyone shut the fuck up!" when the DC logo appeared. Crowd went silent. People applauded at the end.
Prometheus: Interested murmuring after it went off.
ParaNorman: Silence.

When they showed Bale sitting in his study at the beginning of the trailer someone in my audience said, "WHERE'S HARVEY DENT!?" in a very convincing batman growl. It was super quiet so everyone heard it and the entire theater started laughing.

About 6hrs left for me! :)

At this point, if I leave the Avengers satisfied, then it will be because it's an amazing movie that actually met the ridiculous hype I have for it. I mean, I'm almost expecting to be letdown due to all this build up.

Oh man, all these positive reactions to the flick are killing me. I have to wait untill a buddy of mine has some free time, but he needs to hurry up :(

Go by yourself.

Nearly everyone bailed on tonight (had plans/tickets sold out/family in town/etc) except one co-worker, and I'm not even sure he's going to make it. I said fuck y'all and still going to watch it. I can't wait any longer, even though I already bought tickets for the wife & I tomorrow at 7pm.

How do you boo prometheus?

Maybe the audience didn't know what the hell the movie's about? I've only seen 1 trailer, and if I hadn't known it was Aliens-related beforehand, then I'd have no clue what it was about other than being sci-fi

I am disappointed I didn't notice the cameo/reference of
Harry Dean Stanton asking Banner if he was an alien
until i read it on the imdb page.

man my theater was weird for the trailers
TDKR=silence
Prometheus=booed
Spiderman=crazy cheers

I would of heard the boos and...

Saw it earlier to today, very impressive balance in using all the characters, and Whedon's humor really gave the movie a different feel, but the crowd realllly loved it.

Some thoughts:

- The team dynamic worked fine, and I'm happy with the split between action / dialogue

- Mark Ruffalo was ok, admirable even, but I'd be lying if I said I don't miss Norton :(

- Action was largely great, but it can get annoying when the camera zooms in a little too close

- The nods to the fans were fun

Overall, excellent popcorn entertainment, and nicely sets up follow up movies.

Great movie. Probably the best of the Marvel movies (with Iron Man a close second). Can't wait for part two. Obviously Downey stole the show with his performance, but the other actors weren't too shabby.

It did have a lot of action, but it wasn't Novocain like a Bay flick.

Do people really go booing and cheering and stuff during trailers in America?
I recall during XMen 3, one trailer was Snakes on a Plane, another was Ghost Rider, where one guy applauded at the end to which I yelled, "Ain't got Snakes in it"...to which everyone busted out in laughs and applause. I was kind of shocked that it got such a reaction. lol

Went to see the Simpsons movie with some friends a couple years ago and there was a trailer for one of the Bourne movies.

When Matt Damon showed up on the screen he yelled "MAT DAAAAMON" in that derfy Team America voice. The entire theater busted up laughing.

Frankenweenie: Confusion, awkward laughter, sarcastic clapping and cheering after. Me turning to the friendly people next to me: "Seems like they could have chosen a much better order for those trailers..."

You guys too, huh? We got started with Battleship, which got the response I thought it would. Then came The Dictator, which got a huge response. After Prometheus, ASM and TDKR followed one after the other (lots of love for all three), I thought that would have been the end of it, but they rolled into Frankenweenie and Brave after that. The collective WTF?! in the theater was palpable.

Lol I can imagine the guy yelling that , it makes me laugh.

I need to see it in IMAX though

Hulk <3

The audience booed when the trailer for Battleship appeared. Faith in humanity = restored. Can't wait to see Ruffalo in future Hulk movies.

That's right, very similar, forgot about Battleship, the Dictator, and a cop movie with Jake Gylllenhaal... no Brave, though. Such bizarre pacing. Really should've been Prometheus->Spider-Man->TDKR for massive hypemage.

Awesome movie. I was leery at the first act, but the second and third acts were amazing. My wife and i cringed at a group of guys leaving the theater behind us acting like they knew what they were talking about, "JOSH whedon put his name all over the credits"... "DAVID banner was great"... The rapper? Haha.

probably confusing the TV show

When TDKR trailer come up, someone shouted "DC is better than Marvel!" which got a few chuckles, except for one lady who just about DIED laughing.

Just saw it in IMAX 3D. Loved it. It was much funnier than I expected. It's Joss Whedon, so I should have expected some solid comedic chops, but sometimes I'm just that dumb. We got these trailers before hand:

End of Watch
The Dictator
Prometheus
The Amazing Spiderman
Frankenweenie
The Dark Knight Rises

There really wasn't any reaction for any of the trailers at my theater. But there was a boy in the row in front of me who couldn't have been more than 8 years old and after every trailer he would turn to his dad and say "I want to see that movie" or "I don't want to see that movie." He did want to see The Dictator, he didn't want to see Prometheus. Perfectly understandable. That trailer was terrifying.

"DAVID banner was great"... The rapper? Haha.

Well, actually: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Hulk_(TV_series)

In the series, Dr. David Banner, a widowed physician and scientist, who is presumed dead, travels across America under assumed names (his false surnames always begin with the letter “B”), and finds himself in positions where he helps others in need despite his terrible secret: in times of extreme anger, he transforms into a huge, incredibly strong green creature, who has been given the name "The Hulk”.

I didn't get a Spiderman trailer in front of my screening last night. :( I was waiting for it.

But did anyone else get this trailer for a movie about a native American lacrosse team?
It almost seems like a parody of sports films. A lot of people in my theatre were laughing and likely thinking: "What the hell?"

Chumbawamba. What's not to love.

There's this one particular scene I thought was cool:

Steve was dishing out orders to the team and after Thor receives his, he spins his Mjölnir and flys off.
So cool.

Do people really go booing and cheering and stuff during trailers in America?

During big anticipated trailers yes, it's fun. It's more rare but it happens occasionally during the actual movie as well. My theater clapped/cheered a few times during Dark Knight and after the hallway scene in Inception.

Unfortunately there are dickheads though who laugh and do stupid shit during serious scenes and ruin the moment. I stopped going to theaters because of this but still go for big movies/directors.

is it normal to get 6 trailers in the US? i was annoyed we got 3.

I feel like we get much more than just 6, maybe I'm wrong though.

I really, really, really, really liked this movie. I wanted to see it again immediately after it ended. I do, however, want to see it in 2D this time. The 3D seemed practically non-existent.

6 definitely feels like a low estimate...

Whenever I'm trying to figure out when I'll be getting out of a screening, I always add on 15 to 20 minutes to the film's run time to account for the damn things. There's soo many.
