If I were to go check this movie out tonight, how packed do you think it would be for a opening night on a friday?

I'm not sure what the specifics are for this particular project, but generally when a studio puts out something for vfx bidding each vfx house puts in their estimates for how much it would cost for them to do each shot, and if possible some samples of what it could look like. There's a bit of back and forth as scripts/storyboards/screenplays are adjusted as well as the usual price haggling. Eventually the studio makes the final call and gives out contracts for each sequence or set of sequences, usually with one vfx house getting a good portion of the work and the other companies splitting the rest with the main vfx house overseeing the rest of the vendors (to try and help keep a consistent look across vendors).
Pretty sure the first one was Digital Domain, the second one was shared between ILM and Weta.
I had that happen once (and they hadsaid been talking the whole time)I and I told them to shut up and they said fuck you. So I got up turned around and in the strongest possible terms told them to fuck off. They were like sit down, but I told them if they didn't shut up I'd shove a copy of pitchfork up their hipster asses (no idea how I thought of that) and sat down...they didn't say shit for the rest of the movie. lolUnfortunately there are dickheads though who laugh and do stupid shit during serious scenes and ruin the moment. I stopped going to theaters because of this but still go for big movies/directors
Extremely.
Very.
I like all of them too. I think there's a big gap between the others and the Avengers though. They raised the bar.
Not encouraging but midnight number is still impressive.Nikki Finke said:FRIDAY 12:45 PM My sources are giving very early estimates for Marvels The Avengers of between $65 million and $67 million for Friday (including $18.7M midnights) based on matinee trends. Not a record. That would bring the worldwide total to $371 million so far and counting. More later.
Don't go after 2, best way to avoid loud teens and annoying kids who talk during the movie.Damn, I kind of wanted to see it but I don't handle crowds well at all so I guess its off the table for a while.
Do people really go booing and cheering and stuff during trailers in America?

Also, don't go during weekends. Weekday matinees- take a long lunch.Don't go after 2, best way to avoid loud teens and annoying kids who talk during the movie.

I usually hate crowds, but mine was absolutely awesome and actually added to the experience. There were no jackasses, just people having a ball, howling at all the good moments, cheering and clapping. It was contagious.
Best crowd ever.
That's the way it was when I saw The Raid at MOMA. I love crowds like that.I usually hate crowds, but mine was absolutely awesome and actually added to the experience. There were no jackasses, just people having a ball, howling at all the good moments, cheering and clapping. It was contagious.
Best crowd ever.
Same. Just an outstanding group, my favorite night at the movies ever.I usually hate crowds, but mine was absolutely awesome and actually added to the experience. There were no jackasses, just people having a ball, howling at all the good moments, cheering and clapping. It was contagious.

EDIT: sorry thought you said this not thereIs there a spoiler thread?
Its not so much how people act as me having agoraphobia and pretty severe social anxiety disorder. Haven't been to the theater in like, 8 years or so I would guess. I wish I could go for a movie launch, seems like fun.
Yes there is. I don't have it up right now. Marvel Cinematic Universe is in the title. Is there a spoiler thread?
BTW, I need to fucking know where I can buy Tony Stark's original shirt.

Not that I have a smidge of RDJ's swagger, but still.

edit: I did, like many here, miss out onas a result of mass cheering and hollering (actually continued for several seconds after that as well, and I was right there with them. What a satisfying damn moment that was).PUNY GOD
Fuck that I can't wait to see Battleship!
Not encouraging but midnight number is still impressive.

Okay, favorite Moment of Awesome, GO!
Iron Man reflecting a repulsor cross-beam off of Cap's shield. So unnecessarily bad. ass.
When the trailer for The Expendables 2 showed a lot of people cheered when Chuck appeared. And throughout the movie various scenes got cheers.
The smart-car scene got the biggest response at my screening, and deservedly so.
I meant in trailers and comments. Sure, that scene deserves cheering (fucking HATED the movie, except that scene which stood out so much it's the only thing I remember), as well as some (a lot) in Avengers. But trying to be the funny guy and yelling jokes or people booing at a trailer? It's completely alien and ridiculous to me. People would tell those to shut the fuck up.I still remember the crowd when I went to see The Golden Compass. Didn't seem anything remarkable, wasn't even sold out - but during the fight between the two bears, when Iorek knocks Iofur's jaw off and breaks his neck, the place just fucking erupted with cheering and applause. It was bizarre.
The scene in question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkyH4ijgFbA
Yes, that is all.

Fuck that, I will not cheer for Chuck. Motherfucker was pushing for a PG-13 rating.
