Vaporware.
Yep.
Vaporware.
Same. Followed by the Jan 2011 trailer.
Love the cut backs and transitioning. Not to forget the amazing track.
Almost 1 CG video per 2 in-engine scenes. That's... absurd amounts of CG. Higher than XIII.
XIII-2, which was multiplat, had like 4 or 5 total.
It still beggars belief that this game was announced at the same E3 at which Nintendo properly unveiled the Wii, and yet it won't be out until the Wii's successor is out worldwide.
There's probably a whole book that could be written about the sheer mismanagement of this project, though I doubt we'll ever get the complete story.

On the other hand, if its actually progressed and remains a PS3 exclusive, maybe Sony has it locked-off as a "surprise" reveal at its keynote.
Not likely, admittedly, but Sony does have a track-record for giving SE product spotlight time at its pressers.
I was talking to someone about that quite recently... the amount of KH3D promotion really pales compared to say... Sleeping Dogs. There was a time when KH was bigger than Final Fantasy in America... that time is now long over![]()

How S-E fucked up their two biggest brands in one genration, surely must be a case of study.
They haven't released Dragon Quest X yet, so there's still a chance of knocking out all three major Japanese brands at once!

All accounts seem to indicate that no meaningful amount of development took place until after XIII shipped.
Gotta fill up that blu-ray disc space I guess.
I wonder if Square Enix has a mandate for this game to be good. In light of the XIII and XIV disasters, maybe they see the necessity of the next big FF to be great, and restore trust in the brand.I can't think of too many games in development for over 6 years that were successfully completed and released. I can think of even less that turned out great. There's a reason it's called development hell.
Still, stranger things have happened, maybe they're busy retooling it as a next generation title, who knows.
So what comes first? The Last Guardian, Half Life 3, or FF Versus XIII?
Considering FFXIII nearly maxed out the 50GB disc, I think it's possible Versus may be the first multidisc ps3 game. Assuming it has a lot more CG and a bigger game world.
Does anyone even care? Square seems to have killed the franchise this generation. They should work on either: 1. Something new and wonderful or 2. Fixing Final Fantasy, period. Not some offshoot of a main franchise release.

Unless they intend to launch this without ever showing up to an E3 conference, it's not wholly implausible that the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 make it out the gate first as well.
Do you just chose not to read? What kind of dumb question is this? Just look at this thread. Many posters commenting that they are disappointed that Versus XIII is a no show. Comments that they hope the game still makes it. Many threads on this same exact game that has so little actual media. A thread will be made about the slightest info as well. And you want to ask does anyone care?Does anyone even care?
In your opinion sure.Square seems to have killed the franchise this generation.
Versus XIII seems to be new. It seems to be a very new direction for FF, in gameplay, atmosphere, and visual design. The idea that they should just drop it and make something "new and wonderful" is dumb. What would that be?They should work on either: 1. Something new and wonderful
Which is something Versus could easily do.....or 2. Fixing Final Fantasy, period.
I really don't think ant FF spin-off has had the development time, resource, creative talent, and overall seemingly production quality of Versus XIII. Why you want to call it in off-shoot makes no sense. Just kind of makes you sound a bit nu-informed.Not some offshoot of a main franchise release.
They're probably changing things little by little and generally putting so very little effort into the development of the game that it practically doesn't exist.
You know when this game was announced pretty much nobody used Facebook or Youtube, there was no iPhone, etc.
Versus XIII seems to be new. It seems to be a very new direction for FF atmosphere.
Seems like Versus XIII will be Square's true "Final" Fantasy.
It's just crazy, they showed voiced cutscenes and gameplay footage years ago, what is taking so long?
Well, As long as TWEWY2 is announced, then I have to reason to be disappointed...
It is coming, right guys?

... Guys?
This is bullshit. It's another title set in the future with armies invading. SE needs to stop with all this future sci-fi crap and go back to actual fantasy.
In other words remake FFIX and add more content specifically Amarant content because he's awesome.
