Homosexuals do not need us/you to be offended for them. They don't need us to stick up for them. They can fight their own battles. I would be willing to guess that the vast majority of people who are upset over this are not even gay. More likely than not, the vast majority of GB users are straight white men. I (like most people) am of the opinion that hating someone because of their sexual orientation, race or religious beliefs is something that this world would be better off without. However, I also think it is important for those people who are affected by this hatred to speak their own minds about it and not have their arguments clouded by people like me who have no "horse in the race", so to speak.

I think this is a terrible viewpoint in general & in this specific case is wrong( anyone watching the stream would have paid for this content, therefore we do "have a dog in the fight"). Fortunately Ryan gave an immediate & sincere apology & no real damage has been done & the matter should be done

He said sorry. I implore any of you who are outraging about it to tell me that you have never said anything even mildly offensive. It is not like he just drops it all the time, and he apologized immediately.

I want no one to ever make fun of a woman because they are a woman (i personally don't even like this how males tend to say people have a vagina because they are not doing something, or not doing that something well) but I think if I made a stink about that, people wouldn't give two licks.

Calm down people.
 
GB DayZ content would be fantastic but I'm certain it'd be a complete clusterfuck if they played it live (or, potentially, even with their known tags).

I want you and everyone else making posts like this to cite even just three examples of people being outraged in this thread. Some have expressed concern, some have expressed disappointment, some have said that it's not right to tell people what they should and shouldn't be offended by, but people aren't "outraging" at Ryan.
 
Okay, I've sort of off and on kept an eye on this thread since Ryan dropped the f-bomb. I haven't read a single post in here from someone who super offended and complaining about what Ryan said. I have read a bazillion "Why the fuck is everyone getting so offended!" posts. Maybe it's just a coincidence and I've missed all the people complaining but ....

Not cool that he said it, but he basically responded about as best as one could. Immediately made an apology, and refused to make any excuses for it.
 
I still think someone should gather up all of the shit Ryan has said before without giving a fuck about the fact that it may not be entirely appropriate. Just for the sake of comparison. I can think of "I hope your parents die in a fire" and "I hope the t-shirt (that you won from us) gives you cancer" off the top of my head.

Yeah I'm buzy reinstalling ARMAII and bought the Expansion tonight so I can play this and check it out. Hope it lives up to this. The guys in the DayZ thread seem to think so.

Yeah. Because it isn't a big deal. I mean it's not something you should go around saying obviously but from my understanding he didn't say it to someone just said it. People just don't know how to react so they feign outrage. I would really love to know honestly deep down how many people were watching as he said that word and felt attacked or hurt on a personal level. I would say that number is "zero." We watch these guys goof off day in, day out. We know that Ryan isn't a homophobe or a racist. He said a word he probably shouldn't have said, big fucking deal. He wasn't bullying someone. If you feel it warrants anything more than "yikes" facial expression you are immature and I'll equipped to deal with the real world.

Random PC Game please, multi-parter if necessary. It'd make for a crappy TNT (well, it'd still be funny I guess, but it wouldn't be representative of the game at all -- like, 90% of what makes the game interesting would be entirely neutered).

It'd be a waste of an awesome game if it was anyone but Dave, Drew and Vinny. Jeff's already said DayZ couldn't sound more unappealing to him. Big surprise, I know.

To be fair, "Arma 2 with zombies" does sound pretty dull. Seeing it in action makes the difference, IMO. That, and the persistent elements and the endless fucking over of people.

Watching some DayZ and dudeeee. This made from the ground up with this concept in mind instead of a mod for an existing game would be the greatest thing.

Jeff feeling comfortable enough to be able to tell a user to go fuck himself is, if I may just abuse the phrase, much more 'what Giant Bomb stands for'. Talk nonsense as a member of the community and don't be surprised if the crew call you out for it.
 
I think the only issue and this has nothing to do with F-wordGate, is that Ryan thinks he's somewhat of a comedian. He has his moments but every single Bombcast it almost seems like he's trying to do a routine that mostly ends up with him sounding like a dick. I enjoy what he brings to the site but he should probably chill out a little.

I swear I read somewhere that they totally want to make this a reality. Although it might just be a case of them wanting to license out the ArmA engine and make DayZ a stand-alone release.

Ryan's use the of word wasn't liberal anyway, he said it once apologized and moved on. You know what? I'll indulge your hypothetical "gotcha." If I was at Christmas party at my work and they had a Wii set up and I got really worked up playing Tennis and dropped that word I probably wouldn't get much more than a few yikes faces. But thats just my work.
 
I wish we (not solely GAF, basically everyone involved in this) could fall somewhere between vehemently apologizing, and calling for the guy the guy's head. Is some kinds middle ground out of the question these days?

Of course, I thought it was perfectly fine when Janet Jackson got he tit out, and was surprised by that shitstorm too.
