Thanos will work better if they don't actually have Death being a being that exists in the MCU, and instead just make him a total headcase who believes he can "court Death". Besides, he needs a serious flaw to undermine his ridiculous strength and intelligence.

edit: love this

What's the Galaga and Legolas scene again?

The Galaga scene takes place on the helicarrier when the heroes are all assembled for the first time. Stark walks out talking a mile a minute as he always does, and one of the things he says very quickly is along the lines of "that man is playing Galaga. Did no one else notice that?" and then he keeps going on about the mission. 5 minutes later when the scene ends, there is a two second shot of one of the crew sitting at his terminal and turning Galaga back on.

My theater erupted when Hulk caught the pilot when he tried to eject. Guy actually yelled out "GET YO ASS BACK HERE!" adding to the hilarity.
that was bad ass hahaha. but the guy playing galaga and going back to it was fuckin amazing lol. the biggiest pop though was hulk hitting Thor after talking care of business

hulk was a beast in this movie

Some parts I really liked that isn't getting enough love:
- how Hulk tried to pick up Mjolnir and started digging his feet into the ground.
- the visual of the rockets of Iron Man spinning the ship's turbines going round and round
- RDJ getting into space and having an OMG look on his face as he looks at the giant epic explosion, while dying from lack of air (I assume)

ScarJo wasn't great, but she did do a good job expressing fear of the Hulk just from her eyes.

That's a certainty, but in what capacity? I'm really curious to learn more about the plot for Thor 2.

He's already signed on for Thor 2, and I think they mentioned they want to take the story through more of the nine realms. The natural place to take Loki's character now is to bring him back into that gray area where he resides in the comics. He'll probably end up
saving Asgard
in some way.

Really? I hope she shows up. Watching him try to woo a hooded skeleton will creep people out, in a good way.

Have Thanos talk to somebody nobody else sees but have him see Death. Leave it to the audience to think A) he is batshit crazy or B) He ACTUALLY talks to death.

Also make Death hot as hell.

I want Thanos's monologues to have a shakespearan vibe to them and want him to mock the Avengers throughout the fight.

We know that it'll be about how Asgard is dealing with the bifrost being broken and how that effects the 9 realms, along with actually exploring some of those other realms. Also exploring Jane, obviously.

I don't dig it. Too abstract for something like this.

I definitely wouldn't mind if only he could see her, and they left it up in the air as to whether she was a real thing, like crimonspider says. But don't have her definitively be a being, like in the comics.

Just imagining the possibilities of these guys fighting Thanos in the next Avengers movie has me so excited. Hulk and Thor throwing down with him is just going to be incredible.

Speaking of Thor and Hulk, that fight between them was just incredible. I loved it. When Thor is just holding out his arm waiting to pull his hammer at the right time, that hit was just incredible. Loved it. Also the double team moves, Iron Man and Capt America, Hulk and Thor, was a really nice touch.

Wasn't the Infinity Gauntlet teased in Thor? They'll probably have that be part of the plot of Thor 2, with it not actually being obtained by Thanos until Avengers 2.

Saw it a second time last night. I had to make sure it was what it was when my brain wasn't melted from excitement. It's just as great on the second viewing.

Some big audience reactions people aren't mentioning much:

"I watched you while you were sleeping."
Thor uppercutting Hulk with Mjolnir made several people yell "Holy shit!"
"Son, you've got a condition"
And though most people had left the theater, the shawarma bit got a big round of applause and laughter both times.

A small thing: Cap balling up behind his shield before the Chitauri bomb went off inside that building was awesome. I missed that the first time.

Both audiences were incredibly quiet after Coulson's death. Credit to the filmmakers for giving that the poignancy it needed. The audiences seemed genuinely affected by it. I did not, however, like Fury lying about the Captain America cards in Coulson's jacket. I felt like it diminished his death a little bit.

I really like the kinship established between Banner and Stark. I hope Ruffalo has a role in IM3. He's really good as Banner.

Also, virtually nobody got the Point Break line in either show I went to. That seems to be the most obscure reference in the film and it's not even that obscure I don't think. In comparison, everybody got the Stephen Hawking bit between Rogers and Coulson, which I didn't expect.

Also, did I detect seeds of romance between Natasha and Banner or is that a reach? It seems like it's barely there, but the look on her face when he transforms in the helicarrier, and then her passing him his bag in the ending (they were riding together?) made me think something was there.

Oh, and the "courting death" line to Thanos at the end was a very nice touch. I didn't make the connection the first time.

The only movies I've seen are the two Iron Man films and Hulk. Should I watch the others before going to see this? Which ones if so?

Yup. The Wolverine issue you posted was the aftermath. Them trying to keep Logan alive as they raced back to Earth.
Ah yes, I recall that. All very vaguely.

Really, all I remember of the series is that they fought on Magnus' orbiting space station...something about him falling back to earth and having his powers enhanced by the magnetosphere...being able to control anyone with the iron in their blood...then him snatching Wolverine's adamantium before being mentally terminated by Xavier.

Oh, and I remember it was fucking awesome.

I've enjoyed all the Marvel movies so far but this one really made me think about how everyone who originally worked on the Avengers in comic form has to be in complete awe at how their creation was brought to life. I'd be in tears if anyone did that much justice to something I made.

Also, loved this movie in 3D. :)

That speaks to the audience, not the obscurity of Point Break. Means most people watching were probably, unsurprisingly, teenagers.

Thanos might have a small inclusion in Thor 2, but I doubt to any significant extent. He is not part of the 9 realms, as he says in Avengers; an unknown world.

Thor 2 is all about further exploring the lore and the realms, so having Thanos be a focus doesn't make much sense in that sort of goal.

I didn't get it either... when was it exactly ?

He could be behind the scenes, pulling the strings of whoever is the villain in Thor 2, in order to further his plan.

Thor is about Loki, Captain America is about the Tesseract and Cap obviously.

So I say watch both. I watched them after seeing Avengers and regretted ignoring them before.

Another great bit of dialogue:

"phil? His first name is agent"

Paltrow in that scene HNGGGHHHH

You know, as much as RDJ and Hulk carried the film, I think Hiddleston is really the unsung hero of the movie. His performance was fucking awesome. So much better than he was in Thor.

I totally agree, he was such a delightful villain. I hope they find a way to shoehorn him in Avengers 3 (since I take we won't see him again right away).

I think we could see him sort of behind the scenes of all the marvel movies. That would be a pretty great buildup to avengers 2

I think that would be way too much. I don't want another post-credit scene of him grinning in the dark. There should be a legitimate villain for a change. Maybe some Thanos involvement, but not entirely pulling the strings.

First show I went to was all 20-30 somethings - if any crowd would have gotten it it should have been this one. Second show was much more varied - teens, families, seniors, etc.

A better script taylored to cater to his aggressive side will do that for a villain.

In Thor, he was to be the trickster. In Avengers, he was on some Dr. Doom-style "gives no fucks" world domination shit.

Oh, well then they just suck! Who doesn't know Point Break?!

Yeah I suspect he will be the post movie teaser focus for all the MCU movies from now till Avengers 2 instead of Nick

It's quite like that but I believe he said more about the lines "but he thought nobody noticed that.". That's what I thought.

The Legolas scene was when someone, I believe Iron Man had to bring Hawkeye to the rooftops and somebody said bring Legolas instead of Hawkeye. I assume Iron Man said that since it wouldn't make sense with the rest of the characters.
