Why do people have such a hard on for Ant Man.
He has never been an interesting character to me, and the only interesting things he had was when he was a wife beating douche.
Avengers have Stark and Banner as their token brains.
Pym just does not strike me as someone who would be interesting on film, even if it may lead to Ultron.

I was thinking about how they could introduce him in the next movie. I was picturing Hawkeye being caught talking to 'himself' in a scene or two. Then during a mid-movie action sequence they could do the whole "ant-man on an arrow" sequence or something be his big reveal.

Is this a UMvC3 reference? I should really put some time into that now. No real other modern way to play as the Avengers...
Yeah. The movie only had regular, exploding and grapple hook arrows. If there was other types I missed, I'd love someone to point it out.

I think you'll enjoy Battleship. I went in with low expectations and though it was entertaining.
I look forward to it!

My problem with Battleship is not that it's extremely high-CGI, mindless Michael Bay loud-splosion action; it's that the source material it's "drawing" from is a fucking board game, unlike Transformers which actually had, you know, characters and stakes that made sense to incorporate into a movie.

It just smacks of "lowest-concept action film ever." And I am not at all against mindless action on principle.

...
You haven't seen many of the films Cannon movies made in the 1980s with Golan-Globus at the helm, have you? ;)

From what I understand Berg just took advantage of a property the Universal had for a project he had wanted to do anyway.

When he Hulks out on the helicarrier he casts a glance at Black Widow in the middle of the process; I read his expression as fear. He was losing control and afraid of what he might do.

None of that in the Manhattan scene.

What about those Marvel Ultimate Alliance games?

There were a couple more. He has one that shoots out a spread of extra bolts after the first impact (he uses this right after going "Cap, it'd be my genuine pleasure") and one that gets superheated on impact instead of exploding (uses this to cut a Chitauri scooter-thing in half and help take a couple more out that are chasing Iron Man).

*That I haven't played the shit out of and loved (1) or aren't disappointingly mediocre (2) :P

Off the top of my head, there was the arrow with a computer interface that turned off the helicarrier engine.

EDIT, and what Hawkian said, so at least 6 different arrow types.

True. Hacking arrows. Because when you are a master marksman even disabling computer systems should be done with a bow.

I wanna watch the movie again with a pad and paper to record every arrow type fired.

I remember this one. Useful if he ever wants to take down a Sentinel.

TOBOR. Tell me how much you liked this movie. Then give me a list! Favorite superhero films, GO!

To me the staff had to be doing something, since the whole scene with Loki captured was just implying all over the place (and then directly presenting) the fact that Loki's reason for getting captured in the first place was to force Banner to Hulk out on the ship and destroy it.

- When Loki passes Bruce in the lab he gives him a shit-eating grin
- When Scarlet is interogating him the final takeaway that she discovers is that Banner Hulking out was his ploy
- When they are arguing the staff is made central to the scene and ends with Banner holding it as he's furious
- When the Hulk finally does appear, Loki grins as if his plan succeeded

I don't think Loki's plan was to just show up and that alone would be enough to incite the Hulk. I'm thinking the staff had to be central to that plan.

The staff was the key to many parts of his plan.

1st it acted as a homening beacon which allowed Hawkeye & crew to find the cloaked carrier. When Bruce picks it up it's signal is shown on the dash of their plane.

2nd it was there to rile up all of the Avengers. When they are all arguing before the explosion there are shots of all of them acting as if something is wrong, eye rubbing head shaking, like they are all surfing from a migraine.

His plan was to build up distrust and he knew that coming attack would lead to the Bruce hulking out from the impending explosion.

But the staff wasn't the reason he couldn't control the Hulk. If it was the staff causing his lack of control he would have changed while holding it. He didn't he put it down checked the computer and before he could tell them the location of the cube the attack started.

Oh shit :O

This is totally accurate (noticed it last night) but I did not catch this even though I saw it twice- you are totally right though. And letting himself get captured suddenly seems more sensible.

If this movie makes you crave Shwarma, maybe it will also make you crave to play a game where you manage your own chain of Shwarma restaurants with some mobster action?

I saw it mentioned a few pages back and the Infinity Gauntlet does show up in Thor. It's during the part when the Frost Giants break-in and the Destroyer is attacking them. You can barely see it for a sec as I had to pause and then go frame by frame on the Blu-ray.

Dax, I saw it in 2D for my second viewing, highly recommended. You can pick and choose what to focus on whereas the 3D forces your gaze a lot of the time, especially during fullscreen action.

Dat 3d tax.

Those bringing up Rises, I have to ask...why? Rises, as far as I know, won't have a 3d release, so it's unlikely to pass this OW total anyway. The real test is now to see if it has legs, which I suspect Rises will have...this might not. (pure speculation on my part)

It will have legs. The Friday to Saturday to Sunday drops are already phenomenal, and with social media, I think we're already seeing the effects of WOM. Considering the A+ Cinemascore, this is gonna do close to 600 million if not more.

That's why the estimates always keep going up, not down.

I wonder which cosmic hero they could bring in to give everyone the skinny on Thanos.

Mar-vell?
Thanos is a mix between cosmic baddie and magic, so either Mar-Vell or Dr. Strange, if you want to go that route.

Got myself some Shawarma this morning. Had it with the Jalapeno and Scallion Hummus and some cucumber and tomato mix. THIS STUFF IS DELICIOUS!

I now know why THOR was destroying that stuff!

Really if you like Turkish/Moroccan/Mediterranean food, you'll love this. Can't wait to buy my wife some (as she loves the three food types above, heck she's the one who got me to try Moroccan.

That's what you call..... shawarma?

Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Cap'n are all viable. Thor sucks balls, far too slow. Spidey and Wolvey are in there but weren't in the movie :(

All the talk about opening weekends and box office total is completely pointless and silly. Its taken up the slack for NPD threads on GAF.

So what if it opens to 40 million less or makes 150 million less in its run. Box office success has nothing to do with the quality of the film.

But one factor that might work against the DKR is the ending. If it ends like it seems it might, it can hurt repeat business.
If Batman dies, people more then likely won't want to see it multiple times outside from us hardcore folk. It might be a very fitting ending but the average movie gower wants a happy ending where the hero is victorious. There are exceptions to the rule like Gladiator but that's not a superhero movie. Little Johnny isn't going to ask for seconds to see his hero die. But that's all depending on if Nolan kills him.

I saw it in 2D, of course. I refuse to pay for 3D.
I had to see it in 3D because I was with a group and the showing we went to was sold out. The next 2D showing was hours away, so we picked the next 3D showing. I was not happy, but it was mostly inoffensive (as in, most of the time I didn't even notice it was there). There was one part where I had to avert my eyes because the 3D was so bad (when showing one of the giant lizard things).

people I know who saw it in 3D said it was terrible so def not worth the extra price.

I saw it in 3D, and I generally hate 3D. It wasn't terrible mostly because it wasn't too intrusive. I didn't really even notice it was there most of the time. Going to see it again in 2D next time. It's unfortunate that all the good screens in my city are only showing the 3D version.

So dumb question:

When Banner shows up on the bike is about to take on the flying worm thing head on...but is still in Banner form, he goes "I've got a secret...I'm always angry." then he immediately transitions into Hulk-mode.

Is that meant to imply that he's been in control of the hulk the entire time and he only lost it on the airship because of the staff? Just not sure what's changed that allows him to control the monster all of a sudden.

Didn't see any of the Hulk movies or know much about Hulk lore, so bear with me.

The ending of Incredible Hulk explicitly shows Banner able to control his transformations.

Completely accurate.
